Marcus, thank you for creating and sharing your training tips. I have struggled making contact with the ball for almost 30 years and then came across your videos two weeks ago. I bought into your tips and experienced immediate results- great contact and great looking ball flight! I incorporated the slap shot motion into my practice swings and it helps my body remember how it feels. I am no longer clouding my brain with rotating- it naturally occurs by swinging inside out. You reference “Magic” all the time and you are correct- Magic does occur by following your tips. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Marcus I put this idea into play the past summer that you talked about in previous videos. One thing I did that helped get the feeling of the circle is to warm up on the range with my feet and body maybe 60 degrees open and the ball placed back by my left foot (I swing left handed like you). Using a wedge, you had to make a circle to hit it to target. Between this and "fast hand, slow hand" it really helped. I had struggled with knee pain in my right knee and swinging using your method there is no knee pain!
See a few times! I think so. This really explains most of the over top issues and in my case lack of full follow through. Mike Dunaway demonstrates in one if his videos that the circle (plane he says also) is rotating too. Your explanation and by placing the camera behind you gives a clearer understanding than Mike’s for me. In fact I think your swing particularly the follow through resembles Mike’s. I believe this is my problem. I am trying to do something that requires two circles of rotation but only doing one. Thanks Magnus, I believe this may be the key. After some coffee, I will try it with a whiffle ball. Absolutely brilliant explanation, Lad.
Good video Marcus I’m single figure golfer struggle with long game short game saves me however in my long game I have so much going on in my head your sounds really simple to understand I’m going to try this method 👍🏻
Great video. I am guilty of the keep my back to the target, hold the rear shoulder back thing. What I like about your method is it’s all in the hands and arms. The body will support and help where it should on its own.
Discovered your channel recently, thanks to TH-cam's algorithm. Going back through your videos from a couple of years ago to now. Hardest part for me is getting the hand motion circle. Hard to overcome the temptation to lunge at the ball with my upper body, because that feels strong. But, as you say, it's not fast.
Hey Marcus, great videos and I’m hitting the ball much , but I seem to be pushing my driver, lots of distance and straight, but push..any tips? Thanks again and much appreciated all your videos. Chris 🇨🇦
Hi Marcus, I am 64 year old golfer left hand playing off 7. I have incorporated your circle of speed and it has given me great results, long high draws with the driver. I do however have a problem with the irons, I seem to over draw these, I even struggle now with trying to fade the ball with the irons. Have you a video on the best way of fading irons with your technique? Many thanks

nicely explained. I do a similar thing on the downswing but on the backswing I go up over and down so that I'm drawing a continuous circle in one direction instead of 2 half circles with a change of direction.
Hi Marcus. Been using your concept all summer. Suddenly developed the shanks and now unable to hit the ball. Any tips? Any drills to fix the shanks besides the generic ones all o er youtube
I don't know if this video had anything to do with some of things that I had commented or not. Not that I expect such a thing to happen but I did hope that you would elaborate a bit more on the details of how you are blending arm and club movement with your impressive rotation into and through impact. I know that you have addressed these things from many different angles but I still think that the way that you explained them in this particular video will be helpful to many golfers. The pattern of low to high to low arms in the circle (with the circling motion of the clubhead, also of course) is very powerful because as you rotate in the early downswing, the trail side is coming toward the target line which effectively causes the arms and the clubhead to be higher so the dropping of the arms and the clubhead behind the motion is what allows a good shallowing and inside path to the ball for a solid strike and good compression. I also believe that this "circle" is happening in some form in all really good golf swings, and has to, and just looks a little different in your swing because you emphasize the trail side and play the ball back. Excellent description and breakdown. Cheers.
If more golfers could understand that it is two rotations that need to work together with good timing between them we would have more "good" golfers. Most people only use one and that will never work...
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Yes, and there are also nuances depending on you you move your weight, etc.. The thing that I see is that all powerful hitters move the club around their address spine angle and the circle works in conjunction with that. So if the trail side works back more than the lead side goes toward the target line in the backswing ( one of my bad tendencies ), then the motion of the circle needs to flatten out a bit towards the rear of the body and then as long as you get back to somewhere close to your original spine angle, you can deliver a nice hit from inside and shallow enough with plenty of speed due to coordinating the circle properly for that motion. Kyle Berkshire for example, stands up a bit in his backswing with very high hands and then he re-compresses back to his original spine angle more or less on the way down and then his hands are much higher at impact than at address so he actually increases his arc in the backswing and downswing, as he swings out to the ball somewhat. Nevertheless he returns to an almost identical spine angle at impact. No doubt that the circle works almost perfectly in those motions and is hard to detect. You also have some of the stand up and compress in your swing which I think is great for power hitters or anyone who has the timing to be consistent with it. It gives the opportunity to increases the vertical force on the clubhead in conjunction with the dynamics of the circle. Of course, the ideal consistency is going to be achieved by a very predictable turn combined with the appropriate circle for that turn and a return to approximately the address spine angle, however you achieve that. If one is really good at sensing the circle when mixed with motions that increase the arc and power, one can really add a lot of useful clubhead speed and still achieve really good strikes. A somewhat unusual feature that helps achieve that also is the one that Ludvig Aberg has in this swing. He is able to move his hips quite far towards the trail side and return them back and still recover his spine angle and obviously manage the circle. So he gets a big step into the ball through impact like a baseball player and has a huge arc, thus easy and controllable power. In all of these things, the circle really is a huge part of the "secret sauce" as you have well and often pointed out A simple understand of these things in their basic form will get the average golfer hitting the ball solidly in a consistent manner and then they can tweak it as they may to increase power according to their abilities. No doubt you are getting a lot of people started well on that path.🙂 Cheers.
A very good example of hitting long and straight, like your tips here, I witnessed at this past week's men's PGA tournament with Aberg cruising to victory. It seemed he was always the last to hit in his group on par 4's and 5's. Well done Marcus.

The one thing I think would be important is the relationship between the rotation of hips with the club. If we think the trail arms has a string attached to the rear hip and they move through the swing plane together it makes sense.
Sir we have two hands and two arms and I need to know when to use left arm and when to use right arm in golf swing. Or, use both arms together? When i use only right arm and hand , it causes pull hooks because left arm get collapsed in downswing.

Hi Marcus, I like the way you think! Question for you. Would it make sense to hold a hoola hoop with the bottom of it pointing at the taget line yet holding it on an angle in order to represent the shaft plane? Or is that too much of a single plane. Thanks!
If we hit the ball when the club is on its way down in the circle all will be fine. We all need to learn to hit down or up if we wanna master all clubs. 👍
Hi Marcus, sounds to me that the downswing for the circle is casting - something most instructors tell us not to do other than for bunker shots - would you agree please?
We call it casting when we cast the club over the top with only our wrists. We call it throwing when we do it down first and "under" the top. It is the same motion but totally different directions and therefore I don't agree. 😊 In this video I will explain better: th-cam.com/video/8OfnbdKxWH0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QSP49GacYh1eE6JK
Marcus, would you describe your technique as "hitting" or a combiantion of "hitting" and "rightside-swinging"? Would you say you are pushing against the handle or the whole shaft? I try to get a better swing-picture to automate the correct movement.
I'm absolutely "hitting" and not just swinging the club. I'm also swing on the trail side not from one side to the other. The last question about the push is harder to answer. The contact point is always the grip but in my mind I see and feel the club head move not the whole club. I think we all need to find a way to make the club move. We can ask someone else what to do but how to do it is our own responsibility to find out.
If you would describe your swing - is it 1. like striking with an axe or 2. throwing a ball or 3. stone flitching or 4 throwing the club or 5. throwing a medicine ball (over a wall)? If none of these images fit - what comes closest or which image would you find most appropriate?
