Was in a high school bar band when I covered Gadd's playing on 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. That experience taught me two things : finesse is important live and Gadd is a drummer to follow. Now 40some years later I still love exploring his varied skills. The guy is just COOL.
Still then Smoking in the Pit..I was lucky to see them at the Iridium in NYC in 2009? The guys that changed music in and out 70-80s...Great video!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I've been a fan of Maineri and Bernhardt for probably 40 years. actually met them at a King Crimson concert. in addition to being two of the finest players on the planet, they were both so delightfully human, humble, and encouraging. I was actually trying to find a duet piece to show an old friend. As soon as I heard this performance start, I knew that this was the piece I wanted to show him. Such a masterfully dynamic, melodic, and evocative performance, it's going on to my study list... Thanks for showing us how it's done...
Mainieri grip. It's similar to stevens grip, except you can move the inner mallets forward and backward to make playing two notes on both the accidental and natural manual easier. it's not easy, but it's a great pinkie workout
Fantastic tune; fantastic performance; fantastic live mix; fantastic MUSIC! What a superb collection of talent.
Thank you Japan for recording this tune greatly like treasure~~|~

As good as STEPS !Mainieri is a great composer and perhaps the best vibraphonist w/G Burton!
