my Chinese step dad used to make these for me whenever he visited and I loved them so much I decided to learn how to make them myself... I am proud to announce the family has decided mine (yours) are better!
Made this the other night. My wife’s eyes opened wide and my toddler gobbled her portion up. So far all your recipes I’ve tried have been spot on (eg garlic fried pork)! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for this easy yet ‘superlicious’ recipe. I cooked this for reunion dinner early this year and tonight for Christmas. The eyes immediately lit up the moment they put the ribs in their mouth 🤩 Would love to see more pressure cooker recipes 😊 Thanks and a Blessed Christmas to you and your family🎄

@@spicenpans: Dear Spice: Wonderful video. Well done. Question: Can this work with lean beef patties, and will this work with an ordinary stove-top pot?
I did this with frozen beef from the freezer that I had no idea what to do with. I just slice it up a bit smaller than the ribs and use a wok since I have no instant pot. It still became saucy beef and taste good. Nice recipe!
We've made this dish several times now and it's always a winner. Even the 5yo devoured it so it isn't too spicy, just a nice bite! Thank you so much for all your recipes and videos (our son LOVES watching!)🤣

this recipe is great! I didn’t have star anise, cinnamon, hoisin sauce, or shallots but it came out great. I added sambal olek for some spice, even if you don’t have every ingredient follow the steps and it’ll turn out great!

I just cooked this tonight and it is unbelievable! Thank you for this recipe! The only thing I changed was that I used less ginger (not a huge fan of the smell), but the result is incredible.
Currently at home in Europe celebrating lock-down easter and trying to make the best of the situation. Prepared 2 kilos of ribs as per your recipe and for the first time in my life. Absolutely delicious! Thank you and Kind Regards from Chris

Just made this! Couldn't get any pork ribs at my butcher but he had some lovely pork belly strips. Holy mackerel this recipe and my pressure cooker are a winning combo!
Just made this today, didn't come out that dark and took longer to reduce the liquid but I had a whole rack of ribs added a cup of water and Chinese rice wine, added one more tablespoon of hoisin and oyster sauce, soy sauces and 4 tablespoons of honey instead of brown sugar but came out great! Ty
Directions: Heat up some oil and brown the ribs, about 1 minute each side. Use multi-cooker set to open lid cooking. If you don't have a multi-cooker, use a normal pot. Remove ribs from the pot. Add more oil to the pot. To the pot, add star anise, cinnamon, ginger, shallots, garlic, and chillies. Stir fry for 1 minute. Add Chinese rice wine, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and rice wine vinegar. Bring to a boil and add in ribs, bone-side up. Add enough water to cover the ribs (3 cm above ribs). Put lid of pressure cooker on. Cook for 40 minutes. Release steam from pressure cooker, and carefully open lid. Set cooker to open lid cooking and simmer until sauce is reduced and sticky, approximately 15 minutes. When the sauce coats the back of a spoon, it is done. Enjoy. Ingredients: 500g of prime ribs (you can also use spare ribs or beef ribs) 1 piece star anise 1 piece of cinnamon bark (5 - 7 cm) 1 thumb size young ginger - minced 2 pieces shallots minced 4 cloves of garlic - minced 3 pieces dried chilli, rehydrated and deseeded 1 cup of Chinese rice wine 2 tablespoons of brown sugar 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce 2 tablespoons of low sodium light soy sauce 2 tablespoons of premium dark soy sauce 2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar (or apple cider) Enough water to cover the ribs
I like how detailed your instructions on cooking always. Tried this recipe and turned out so well. Just that was using gas type pressure cooker, so water dried up more but still very delicious. Tqqq.
This method of boiling the meat then taking off the lid to reduce the juices till thick really is the best on any meat and makes the meat tender and falling off the bone . I do this with chicken .
Thank you so much i learn a lot with you i’m improve a lot because of your recipe, i always use your ingredient and style , my employer love all the dishes i serve to them . God bless you always

Could you please make a similar program using basic kitchen ware that every one has ,because as good as the food looked and the way that he cooked it ,it did seem more of an advert for Multi Cooker and I would love to see it done with saucepans and a wok
I am cooking this in a normal pan and over the stove.. Really super tasty! I made this a lot of times and the people who tried it found it very delicious.
Thank you chef, came out good not as good as yours, but i will have to practice it again, but the taste was definitely there!, i think i put too much water and took 30m minutes plus to reduce ,but still could not get the consistency you had, then the meat started to crumble off the bone. But taste wise it was great. I will do again and nail it, Thank you for the recipe chef!!! Regards, Rene . Sarasota, Florida . USA
For the first time, my very picky dad liked something I cooked! I can tell my family get hungry every time the aroma of the star anise & cinnamon comes steaming from the (manual) pressure cooker. I love it when the sauce starts to reduce and gets darker & darker on the wok, concentrating the flavors on that sticky addicting stuff! Thank you Spice N' Pans! :)
@@spicenpans His & my nephew's approval felt so rewarding! I used to cook many things for them but they never quite liked it and my dad can be so blunt. But this recipe! I mean I had to turn down his request for me to cook it on Tuesday (& I just cooked it last Sunday) bec. I wanted to reserve it on Sundays, the family day! *NB: I can't find Chinese cooking wine, so I use Apple Juice instead :)
@@quinten4401 I 4x the recipe and used 2 instant pots. When I sautéed the ribs in the pots, they kept sticking so if I were to do it differently, I’d cook it in a separate pan. I also couldn’t achieve that sticky texture of the sauce, so maybe once the ribs are done cooking, remove them and let the sauce boil for a bit or mix in some corn starch
thanks for the recipe. i loved it. i cooked it in advance so that I'll only have to reheat it before packing it for lunch. i'm going to eat this at school.

Thank you for this recipe!!! Our family loved it.. my husband compared it to the general tso's sauce. I don't know what General Tso's sauce tastes like, but my family loved the dish. I made it with oxtail and needed to decrease the chillies quite a bit. Even only 2 dried (deseeded) chillies were at the limit of my (low) spice tolerance. I must have gotten some fiery ones somehow. This is a keeper!!!

Phew!! We read your feedback with bated breath. Glad that you enjoyed it.
Directions:
Heat up some oil and brown the ribs, about 1 minute each side.
Enjoy.
Ingredients:
500g of prime ribs (you can also use spare ribs or beef ribs)
1 piece star anise
1 piece of cinnamon bark (5 - 7 cm)
1 thumb size young ginger - minced
2 pieces shallots minced
4 cloves of garlic - minced
3 pieces dried chilli, rehydrated and deseeded
1 cup of Chinese rice wine
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
2 tablespoons of low sodium light soy sauce
2 tablespoons of premium dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar (or apple cider)
Enough water to cover the ribs

Glad that you enjoyed this recipe. Thank you so much for using our recipe, Laura!!
This dish is so good. It must get a million views. Thanks for sharing. I ate in the restaurant didn’t know how to prepare it. Thanks for sharing.
Could you please make a similar program using basic kitchen ware that every one has ,because as good as the food looked and the way that he cooked it ,it did seem more of an advert for Multi Cooker and I would love to see it done with saucepans and a wok
Hi Alan. You can use the same recipe with slightly more water and cook it over stove. Just need to cook them longer. Hope this helps.
I am cooking this in a normal pan and over the stove.. Really super tasty! I made this a lot of times and the people who tried it found it very delicious.
@@dutchmenot698 if use pan how long do u need to cook it? I don't have pressure cooker.
2 to 3 hours.. But definitely worth it!
Use an Instant Pot...same
Made this last week. It was the best recipe so far for pork ribs. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for using our recipe. Glad that you enjoyed it 🤓🤓🤓
Thank you chef, came out good not as good as yours, but i will have to practice it again, but the taste was definitely there!, i think i put too much water and took 30m minutes plus to reduce ,but still could not get the consistency you had, then the meat started to crumble off the bone. But taste wise it was great. I will do again and nail it, Thank you for the recipe chef!!! Regards, Rene . Sarasota, Florida . USA
Greetings from North Idaho. Making your recipe this evening with some beef ribs instead. Thank you for sharing!
Woohooz!! Thank you so much for using our recipe, pg. Glad to know that your dad enjoyed it. What a win!! This feels good. Thank you so much!
I’ve made this several times already and this deserve a 5/5. Enjoyed it everytime and so easy
Made this for 15 people using 9 lbs of St. Louis pork ribs (8 lbs should be enough). Everyone loved it!
Thank you so much for using our recipe, Tiffany!! We’re so happy to know that everyone loved it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
By now much did you increase the recepi? Did you increase everything?
@@quinten4401 I 4x the recipe and used 2 instant pots. When I sautéed the ribs in the pots, they kept sticking so if I were to do it differently, I’d cook it in a separate pan. I also couldn’t achieve that sticky texture of the sauce, so maybe once the ribs are done cooking, remove them and let the sauce boil for a bit or mix in some corn starch
I made this today, only with a pork shoulder instead. Like Chinese pulled pork. Incredible combo of flavors. Thanks :)
What a delicious recipe Sir and thank u for sharing.God bless.
Thank you so much, Coy :))
thanks for the recipe. i loved it. i cooked it in advance so that I'll only have to reheat it before packing it for lunch. i'm going to eat this at school.

This looks great, thank you for this fabulous share, I can see by your k gradients it will be superb…..I’m excited to start maki g my pork right now. I have followed many of your great recipes. So great to work as communities like this, helping each other grow and to make great food for our families. Love it. ❤️♥️❤️
Thank you so so much Elsie for using our recipe! We’re so happy to know that your family enjoyed it! Yayayaya!! We’re so happy now!
About to cook this stunning looking recipe all the way in Scotland 👌 recently have taken up learning how to cook authentic Asian dishes from all the different provinces, other half treated me to a carbon wok, recently stocked my pantry with all things asian to make pretty much any asian meal I like from scratch. This recipe is the first rib recipe I am trying in the insta pot. Hopefully my bones are left squeaky clean also. More one pot recipes please I have fallen in love with your channel ❣
Edit. Just finished cooking along to the video and OMG!!!!! Best ribs I've ever had the meat was falling away from the bone while I lifted the ribs out 🤤🤤 highly recommend this recipe you won't regret it. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing simple yet incredibly flavoursome recipe
Hi Taylor! Wow. Sounds like you’re going have lotsa fun in making Asian recipes. Super awesome! Glad that you liked how the ribs turned out. Thank you so much for using our recipe! 🤓🤓🤓🤓😘
Chef..thank u for sharing! Every dish you share with us is a huge gift💝
Thank you so much too, Paloma Healing. You’ve made our day 😋😋😋😋
It isn't easy to make flavorful foods from a pressure cooker. I see all the aromatics that you've added and flavor shouldn't be an issue after cooking it. I see how easily the meat falls off the bone! Looks wonderful! Thank you for the presentation of your Chinese Style Ribs!
You’re most welcome, Linda. Happy new year to you!
Those look absolutely delicious.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
Sounds good the ribs and rice. Throw in some vegetable lo mein and I'm sold on the meal.
An Instant Pot is SO much easier to use! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Yeah you’re absolutely right! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
