  • First I want to say thanks to Flash 001 USA, docdcox Dan, Josh Burks for their videos on wood gasification without these great videos I don’t think I could have done this so easily. I watched a lot of videos on TH-cam and thought it would be cool to try this. Little imagination I built it. Its very interesting how wood heated releases a gas that can be used as a fuel to run a generator.

    Really nice build. I didn't expect this. All of you guy's have taken my basic build and polished it up really good. If you don't mind I would like to put this up on the website. I seen you used an ammo can for the clean out port. Yeah I can see how that would really simplify life in general. Anyhow, I'll be looking forward to a gasifier start-up video along with the engine up and running too.

    Looks beautiful. At the end of the day we are producing the most useful appliance for a homestead. Many offer some very intuitive ideas, flash001USA is certainly one of them, but you are both putting imagination and action together to come up with some very nice design ideas. Three Cheers

      Love what you are doing with the system. I have a million dollar question for you. Do you think it is possible to use a chamber to create bio-char ? I was also hoping when I do mine to incorporate 2 gas lines, one for generator and the other for feeding gas appliances. Thinking also of running some feet of copper for heating water. For me this gasifier is a game changer, no matter where you live can use one. Keep up the good work, look forward to hearing from you.

    • @Josefppaz
      @Josefppaz  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Don-sx5xv sorry for not getting back to you sooner. bio char maybe but the area being super heated is very little and creating char would very or if at all non existent. Don’t get me wrong you can still try and experiment. The problem with these gasification processes is if it is not hot enough produce a lot of tar in the system. Cleaning is the main problem and explosion risks are very high due to oxygen still present in the gas mixture. If you do run pipes clean the gas beforehand but the risks of your pipes exploding with a flash back may happen. It can be very dangerous. Mainly the gas is used for a engine generator. Interestingly when I did my experiments the BTU of the gas is very low. When I ran my engine for about 20 min the engine was warm to the touch but not extremely hot. Not sure if this was the wood I had at the time but was very interesting to see. If you make gasification I’m curious if you use the gas to heat up for cooking if it does get very hot for you. All the best

      @Josefppaz  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Don-sx5xv also Don I forgot to mention if I did this again i would personally use hydrogen made with solar panels, instead of wood gas which is more cleaner gas meaning no tar to clean up 👍.

      Wow thanks for the compliment Billy. I’m sad to say I don’t have the machine anymore. Mainly this was a test rig to see how it works. I’ve used lots of information from TH-cam in building these gasifiers. I’ve talked with Flash001usa named Mike he has some great videos too on TH-cam. As you might know these things get dirty and are hard to clean. Even with mine there where issues but it worked very well. I find using antifreeze for filter instead of saw dust really did a great job in cleaning the gas and with no clogs in the machine. Some time Bill I plan to make another one way smaller. The trick is to heat the air before it gets into the machine. I find the more hot the less chance of the annoying tar build up . This was a fun experience. Will I
      Ever build another machine maybe yes but I would need to look at ways to get rid of that tar and moisture, or less of it. The machine I had was a great start but like everything there was lots of improvements to be made, and I had no plans just put it together what came to mind. Thanks for liking the video cheers 🍻

    Nice work mate! I couldn’t quite hear what you said the second blower was can you please comment. Iv been thinking of the silica gel also to take out the moisture, kitty litter is the same thing and a lot cheaper if your still doing this. Is there a way to make the ignition automatic? I was thinking of making this for my mum and need it to be as user friendly as possible, so an auto ignition would be a great start. Pardon the pun.

      Thanks man . The second motor is the same model as the first called a bilge blower. So the first blower is the primary when I start the machine up, when you see the smoke can be ignited then I turn that blower off and close the valve and turn on the second blower

    How did you build the burn pot?

    • @Josefppaz
      @Josefppaz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly talked with Mike ( Flash001USA) he used a small wheel rim mixture of concrete and sand on one of his videos that I followed. The container inside the 55 gallon drum is a portable air tank I got cheep from princess auto in Canada. In the USA would be harbour freight . Cut the top off for the lid and that’s about it. At the time I didn’t have a slip role machine so I had to use air tanks :)

      Oops!
      With a bit of practice, I think you'll pick up on those tar problems before they get a chance to foul up your system.
      I tarred up my first gasser, and also damaged the engine, so I have a pretty good idea of how dirty yours has recently become :) .
      In time, you will discover an easy way to start your gasser up, and get it hot enough for a clean run.
      Once you get familiar with it, the process will seem so simple that you won't even have to think about it during subsequent runs.
      Looking forward to seeing the "dirty movie" you are planning to make with this gasser ;) .

      @@Josefppaz Thanks,. I understand the basics,. Im wondering how most of these dont jam up if wood chips get funneled into the burn area,. Anything i see seems to be a funnel. Just trying to verify . Had some thoughts using a brake drum since they can ve had cheap

    • @Josefppaz
      @Josefppaz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@laserfalcon that’s for sure. Jamming up can be a problem. Usually the shaker grate would help this a lot with the vibration on the unite. I know that people have used a little dc motor and put a weight on the shaft to have that vibration effect. Most of the time that area with the funnel really acts kinda like a blow torch creating a supper hot spot. The more hotter the better the result and less of that sticky tar.
