  • Had a few small hitches of logs left over from some work we had done on the trails behind the house leading to camp. With snow in the forecast and winter just around the corner it was time to do some clean up. I believe the skidded is a 1995 with a single arch and winch. The grapple does not have full rotation so when you grab onto a hitch of logs it better be facing the right direction. For the most part the skidder is in good shape, the articulation cylinders and pivot pins are all fairly snug. Thanks for watching.

Just what I thought it was. A forestry grapple. Seeing the chains ⛓ and front plow. 😁

I love that little skidder. Having the grapple and winch is awesome, only thing that I don’t like are the big tires. They are so close to the frame that chains will rub on the front so I only run chains on the rear.
John Deere discontinued the 548 series a few years ago, so she is a dying breed.
      Thanks for watching.

Looks a lot easier than choker cables. My son's hoping you get snow over there. He's got a season pass this year and gettin itchy!

Weatherman is saying 4-6 inches on Friday. I’m hooking into the plow in the morning, not entirely sure I’m ready for snow.

Thanks for sharing video . Does the skidder get pushed sideways in a tight corner with a large hitch ? I didnt realize hose gets caught in brush and tears out . It sounds good though

I have not had any trouble in tight corners but since I’m not trying to make money and mostly use it on my own property I never really take big hitches. Thanks for watching

Well kept You cut all by hand looks like you could use a nice Deere track saw

Yeah it’s all cut by hand but I bunched it with the excavator, helps make it a bit easier for the skidder. I would love a tracked feller butcher. I am always looking online at used machines, hopefully someday.

Yeah it’s kind of a pain in the ass but it’s not a full time working machine. It is mostly only used on my property to clean up blow downs and haul out fire wood and pull the occasional truck out of the ditch. It sure beats a tractor with a winch and I’m the only person who runs it.
