      aleve is naproxen, an anti-inflammatory like advil (ibuprofen). acetaminophen is a pain killer (Tylenol).

      I agree with you about Naproxen sodium being an anti-inflammatory pain relief albeit, In my personal experience they cause indigestion, stomach, heartburn, acidic esophagus problems. When Acetaminophen is also good for pain yet had excellent Fever reducing properties.

    I love your kit.......my suggestion is to fold some money flat and put in the bottom, needle and cotton, or fishing line and hook and a small freezer bag to hold water.....I have a couple of small kits because I love them.....you should see my partners face every time I find another thing to add. He is fascinated that I am interested in these tins however when you think about it every woman has the ultimate survival kit on her everyday........her handbag!

    Cute. I really enjoy looking at these little kits and I also have a bunch of tiny tools. That being said, I can't help feeling that in a genuine urban survival situation, the best thing you could fit into an Altoids tin is probably a selection of tightly rolled dollar bills. And a few quarters.

    • @joedirt6073
      @joedirt6073 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you may be new to this.
      EDC stands for "every day carry". Everday carry of Bills should be in a wallet or money clip and coins in your pocket...your every day carry backup cash should be hidden in belt, hat, sock, etc.
      A survival kit is completely different animal...and urban vs rual survival kits are unique to each situation. A survival kit you carry daily doesn't really need Bill's or coins since you should carry plenty of those items elsewhere everyday

    I really like the "no mess" nail clippers. Being the pig that I am, I could go out to a flash restaurant and while everyone is eating, I could sit there and cut my finger nails and when I was done I could just reach over and empty the contents in someone's drink. I am such a likeable bloke, but I can't understand why I don't have any friends.

    Here in Ohio at a lot of lottery retail places they have mini pens and mini pencils that would be great I think for a altoids can. I may have snatched some up before 😉 definitely a very well thought out altoids tin kit for sure!id say probably one of thee best I’ve seen. I personally would put some char cloth in place of the microfiber but I’m definitely impressed! Idk if ya know about wazoo gear but I got one of their cache caps and their belts and absolutely love em!so handy and I have their essentials kit in my belt plus random redundant stuff in my hat. I highly recommend em.

    I love how the first 2 minutes is spent explaining what a pen is and what it can be used for, and why you might want a pen, writing, who knew and then goes into showing the very important leather case for over another minute that is needed for the metal case because one case is not enough, two cases when trying to make everything as small as possible is the way to go.

    Thanks for sharing your kit! It is because of this video that I decided to fit a Leatherman Micra in mine. Amazing how tiny it is in a regular-sized Altoids tin, but it packs a ton of uses. I will try cramming my Fisher Bullet pen in there next. Gonna be a tight fit since I also have a mini Sharpie pen inside already.

    If no one else has suggested this already, one of those food storage vacuum sealers would be ideal for the medicine tablets. They are completely water tight so the tablets would be protected from Florida humidity and are see thru. I use mine for that to save space in my toiletry kit.

    For your own ease in Id'ing, (and the cops), recommend we all keep over the counter pharms. in factory sealed blister pack. I was stopped in Nevada, trooper asked me what was in my small pack, saw the aspirin in a bag, and insisted in checking for meth, or something. When it came back neg from his little test kit, I asked to be compensated for my pill. He refused, I requested a supervisor, who came. After seeing my federal ID, the sgt. gave me a quarter. (Oh buhaha). It was just the point of the matter. I was being a dick, but so was he.

  • @edwardcnnell2853
    @edwardcnnell2853 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Since the tools shows this is not woodland centered two other things and one suggestion.
    Top with a folded bill. A US dollar bill is the same size as hundred but choose your denomination.
    Rubber bands but not inside. Wrap on outside so the until otherwise needed serve to keep lid more securely closed. The belt pouch serves to do this but if you get fumbled fingered opening it don't want to drop all that stuff and have to search for it, maybe in the dark. The rubber bands also will reduce the possibility of it sliding out of a pocket if the tin is kept there.
    Suggestion;
    Tums are nice but I value an antidiarrheal more.
    I would rather walk around with an upset stomach than a load in my shorts.

    A couple of $100 bills, and 2-3 $20s might be a little social lubricant. A box knife razor, couple of bobby pins (handcuff shims). None of those take hardly any space. I like someone's idea of a little tape, and on outside some thick rubber bands.

    Great kit, thoughtfully packed. True utility manufacture a very small telescopic pen that would allow you yet more space in there.
    More years ago than I care to remember, we kids in primary school were challenged to strip out the internal parts of an old fountain pen, and see how many small items one could store in there. The winner would be the one who could get the most objects in there...I cannot remember who won, but the idea always stayed with me.... C'mon TH-camrs!! There's a challenge!! A survival kit packed into a fountain pen....😁🙏

    Dang! Wish 2 Tums would help me. If I don’t have at least 6 or 7, I don’t even bother. Also, if you ran the magnetic tape that holds your clippers in place all the way across, it might help with moisture ingress.Good vid well enjoyed. Thanks!!!

  • @mannihh5274
    @mannihh5274 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nice kit - though I wouldn't bother with pens, just take the refill, it's large enough to write short notes with it (won't attempt to write an essay or a novel anyhow).
    I don't use nail-clippers, they always leave sharp edges, which I don't like - I carry a small sapphire nail file, cut off the handle, which makes it just a light-weight, flat piece. It can act as a knife sharpener too, when kept wet and handled gently.
    That should give you enough room to fit one or two quick-tinders and a small piece of duct-tape.

    I recently noticed that there are tins similar to an altoid tin available on scamazon with different dimensions. So instead of sizing down a tool that almost fits an altoid, one can buy a slightly larger tin and get more stuff in it. But you do have some cool kit in there.

    Hmmmm..... I might use half of those items in a camping situation. The rest of the items wouldn't be very useful to me. What are the mini tools for? Not intending to be insulting, just curious.
    Maybe I'm just not understanding the EDC thing. You carry this in your pocket every day?
    For what reason? For "survival", I'm thinking there may be other items that would be better suited. Maybe if there were some examples of what the tool uses were for, it would be better for the intended audience.
    But thanks for presenting your setup. Kudos for getting all that into an Altoids tin. I have never been able to get all my "items" into an Altoids tin. How does one get a kitchen sink in there?
    Alright, take care, stay safe!

      Really just for anything and everything than can happen in everyday urban life more than "survival". Just recently, the mini ratchet came in handy when I had to tighten the seat adjustment lever in our van. The Phillips screw that holds it on was very loose, and the mini ratchet was perfect for reaching into the tight space. The mini pry bar is a more recent addition and I haven't used it yet, but the idea behind it in this kit is that it's for those times when people think they want to use a knife blade to pry something. Yikes.

    So……NOT a survival kit for the wilderness.
    I’d still want to have some kind of fire starter, sewing tools, and water collection pouch in mine. I’m surprised for an urban kit you didn’t add any duct tape or strong cordage.

    You should seal up your tin with electrical tape to seal it up.

    Get rid of the nail clippers all together, the scissors on the Micra are so much better and they aren’t a one trick pony.
