The over Whispering death bowled to Boycott in 1981 was it at the oval? When he never laid bat on ball and lost his off stump in the final delivery

Ref over rates. I have never once been to a Test (and I've been to a lot) and after the day questioned the number of overs we've seen due to over rates. The conversation has never been about that.

Unusual observation, but I'm getting just the slightest whiff of sober Bam Margera energy from some of George's mannerisms, particularly when he looks directly at the camera.

the logic is that the quicker they score their runs the more time they'll have to take 20 wickets.

    • @samsowden

i don't think they thought west indies would roll over, i think they assumed that a day like today was possible, or even likely, and that if west indies got to 350/5 after england scored 600 in 150 overs then the game is condemned to a draw.

What's the point of Mark Wood bowling so fast and getting zero wickets ?

Rarely have I seen/heard a cricket journalist so pleased with what he's about to say. So eternally dissatisfied with England's performances but so satisfied with his own.

It's supposed to be a humorous take. He's deliberately being like that. When he's on more serious shows he has another persona. As for his take on England's cricket, he's 100% correct. England should have scored 600 in 150 overs on that pitch against those bowlers. Their approach is entertaining but cavalier. If they play like this in Australia they'll be humiliated.

He's one of the few critical voices on "Bazball" - talking about where it's emperor's new clothes, when too many of the other commentators are compromised by needing access and avoiding triggering Stokes's thin skin reaction to criticism. I don't get the feeling he's pleased with himself either, he seems very self aware.
