Last step - If you did press the link plate a bit too far when installing (very easy to do) and crush the o-rings too much, the mater link will be "sticky" and not roll/swivel correctly around the sprockets. After installing the clip, use the press out part of the chain tool one more time, and put some pressure on the master link pins again. It can't be removed with the clip in place, but it will free up the link so it can freely swivel.

I had a sticky master link, took your suggestion, and that totally resolved the tightness. Thanks!

Good O/X ring chains are quite tight. I gotta say, usually I think these new tools are solving truly first world problems but this tool looks well conceived and executed!

Holy Sh.. thank god I'm not the only one who sees this as an absolute COMPLETE waste of cash! Most master links can be installed with my fingers. Sometimes I use a plier to effortlessly "press" it on, And obviously a plier is needed for the clip. This "tool" is made soley to take advantage of someone who has ZERO knowledge about installing a chain.

Joey, this is an excellent and useful tool or I wouldn't sell it. Many O and X ring chains have a very tight press fit plate and that is challenging to install or remove with pliers.

      Hello:
Most (maybe all) o-rings chains have a press on plate.

why don't you place it on top of the chain to keep it from dropping out before you snug it?

Scott Aubel Motion Pro and others make them. They are called Master Link Pliers. They work great for installing and removing the clip.
