One thing I do before taking a shot is marking the spot where the animal is, if it managed to run away i also make a marker of where it went after 50-100 meters. This way you won't lose a deer you shot yet can't find. Comparing it to real life, you could say you "memorise" where you shot it and where it went.
@@Howtopaintstuff You can use a golfpro styled rangefinder with a GPS parser medium IRL for under $200 bucks. So it is possible IRL. it's been used that way IRL for almost a decade now, maybe longer. Surely a hunting game in modern times using modern equipment should accomidate that.

On the aging portion of the video, not sure if the devs didn't take this in consideration or if someone told you wrong but longer sun exposure to antlers would not be a determining factor on "aging" the deer. Mule deer and whitetail shed their antlers every year so it is not like older bucks antlers are exposed to the sun longer than younger bucks. Where I hunt it is mainly the time of year when the bucks rub their velvet off that determines the white vs dark coloring of the antlers. Early season freshly rubbed antlers are white, later season they are darker. Great video though!!

5:57 WOW has anyone notice the top of the scope when your setting your zero the nobs are moving, that is amazing detail right there
The detail is what sold me in this game. It is by far the most realistic hunting game i personally been waiting for.

Amazing detail but they cant make the game load textures the texture poping is awful on this so far, hope it gets patched fast

Roe Deer caller definitely works. I'm at the beginning, haven't killed the 6lbs of pheasants for that mission yet but got the caller. Roes will come right up to you for easy kills. Don't call too soon, wait until the bar on the screen gets to the thick part of the bar, 15 to 20 seconds before calling again.
I agree mostly. I will counter with get the calls and start calling early. You need to level them up and you might as well get started. Deer, fox, and Elk are easy to call.
I would really like a color blind mode. It's really hard for me to see blood even in the hunter sense

Dude this was very helpful! After 4 days playing, I was still having trouble understanding the genetics and aging of the animals (which animals/when to cull in a heard/pack). Thankfully I finally found your video which is the only one I've seen that goes into the genetics system in depth. Thanks Scarecrow!
It is sooo cool to see they made a very good job with the antlers and trophies, so you can see in the field which bucks are the best to kill. I wanna see a bigger magnification spotting scope like in the Hunter Classic. I use it all the time. 40x spotting scope or something like that....it would be very useful here too. One thing what we really need yet (maybe the creators will put in the game later) is the BOW. I looooooooooove the bowhunting in the Classic and in the COTW as well. And treestands, feeders... it`s a beautiful and so realistic hunting game.
So there are no blinds/stands that you can put up? Bummer.
Technically, if you enable the slow walking mode you can walk with the hunter sense on before getting the perk. It is a bit slow but workable. The perk allows you to use it while walking at normal speed.
How do I enable slow walk?

well not to bad of a game 12 hrs of play froze once and major error but game play is pretty good on ddr5 mobo and 32 gigs ddr5 rams
i wish these hunting games would have a butchering mini-game people can do..it would help non-hunters learn how to butch the animal for meat and skin.
Nah I'm afraid it might become a inspiration for any future serial killer to do those to human. Gotta be careful.

12:30 I hope a future patch shows the animal's appearance when it died and not when it was first shot and survived.
This changed the game for me! I was playing it like a typical hunting game.

Little tip: With you hold down the shoot button the scope don‘t turn black and you can see where your deer or whatever is running so yeah

Yoo I just shot a whitetail on this game, it was a full pass through and the bullet hit the deer behind it. that's so cool..
Dunno if the headshot tip is correct. I've been headshotting stuff left right and center and the trophies haven't been ruined in most cases. (only ones that do get ruined are the ones where the trophy is the skull itself, likes foxes, bears, and wolves)
I wish camping sights had a parking place where you can call for your vehicle so we can access out weapons storage
Would be interested to know how old deer can get more sun fading on antlers than young since they both grow new antlers every year....?

I love this game, though one thing that bugs the heck out of me is that you HAVE to use the binoculars to get info on the animals, whereas in Hunter: COTW you can get the info using rifle scopes as well. It's odd. "Hey, I can zoom in MUCH better with this scope, but I have no clue WTF I am looking at because I am not using the crappy Binos that do not show anything really at all due to poor zoom." LOL. Anyway, thanks for the video. Liking and Subbing.
What I see with the mule deer antlers is your 99% has straighter tines on its rack. The other 2 seem "crooked".
Hey man! Great video but could you share your video settings? I have a pretty high end pc but just can’t get settings right, if something is more than 50feet away, I can’t see em unless I have binoculars out

I shot a black beat 6 times with that 2nd rifle u get. First shot hit the spine, it charged me from 250 ft. I hit it again in the lungs, but that last shot #6 hit the intestine, that stopped it. This game is awesome! Do they have Grizz??
How does sun exposure on antlers show age? It ain’t like he’s had those antlers his whole life. He gets a new set every year

The diffrent tone on the antlers is imo so small that u can hardly tell and good luck noticing that when u are out hunting the animal.

A beginners guides quality, will always raise, depending on the quality/usefulness of the advices, or given information.
But as a beginner, I don’t know anything..so what I look for, would be fast introduction(but deep) to game-mechanics, and what is important/have big impact, to my gameplay, income, or progression ..if I know about it now, from the start!(the things I otherwise, would only realize/learn slowly over time, on my own), preventing wasted time or resources!

Something i think i really cool but i dont know if its a bug or not is that some animals ive shot then ran up on have lied down to die but then gotten scared when i came close and then running a little more before actually dying

I got the game in the Epic store. I play on PC. My issue: when I leave the game and want to play on later, it always starts from the very beginning instead of where I left off. Any ideas?

I understand the genetics stuff. But how long does it take for them to make babies and grow into 5 stars? Can you skip time in this game to let them grow?
Why were ppl complaining about not being able to change ammo from SP to BT? There are so many more guns here i get wanting to change ammo but if you use the proper firearm seems like a small complaint also there are more then 2 after market scopes COTW has been out for 5 plus years with only 2 scopes i mean come on. I hope this game gets regular updates it could be something big

hey scarecrow i found auto walk completely by accident, just press F
I'm playing on console and I'm able to use keyboard and mouse, but the problem is you can't move the map and it doesn't show me the buttons to press on the HUD
@wolf harrington I am on the Xbox series s and Im using keyboard and mouse, and not with an adapter. I'm just able to plug my keyboard and mouse in and use it in game. And there is no way to change keybinds in settings that I can see

I have a question. Hope you know to clarify for me. Gray Wolf is tier 5, I shot two of them with a Remington 783 (.243) which is for tier 5 animals, and got one star Hunt Rating, and the meat was almost all ruined, like it was overpowered. Shots were between 50 - 100 meters. Do you know why?

@@vladanzervanov4146 30-30 doesn't have much ballistic energy. It goes off of the tier system but also goes off of the ballistic energy of the guns as well.

12:27 Not just sad, it is not realistic. If he survived first shot and continue to grow, trophy rating should be at the time you actually killed him. Some veterans came from war with a bullet in their head or body, doctors can't take it out, and when they die, they die as old persons, not as 20yr old boy when they took the shoot.

It would crawl and jitter more than any animal in the game and would probably not be enjoyable. It’s definitely a next generation game.

You need to level up a perk to level three, I think you need to kill 10 called animals to get it to level 2 so I imagine it’s 30odd for level 3

i think it would be interesting if previous shots would affect how a deer develops if it doesn’t kill it, like make the antlers grow abnormally next time it grows

Try to find some animal zones like feeding zones or drinking zones.
Then can check in the encyclopaedia on what time they feed etc.
Go to the hut and sleep till that time then go and check the feeding zones ,lights out deer 🦌 🫡🫠
