1 star mature should ALWAYS be taken out, no matter what. I started to manage my cape buffalo herds by taking out the 1 star matures, but later on, I found out that you can take ALL males with asymmetric horns. They will never be a 5star. Now, I have multiple herds of kaffers who produce only 4 and 5 stars. Good luck and Waidmannsheil!
I was on an stand and it was heavy rain watching some mules and it was a thunder storm and it was amazing just washing and listening the thunder and the mules just chilling in the rain then i knew im in love with this game
I can only imagine how neat that must have been to experience that! I tell you what, since the updated animal call features, I have been scared a time or two by some wolves I didnt realize were near me! Animals have gotten louder, and I love it!
Good information. My question pertains to bears. I always see them traveling in twos. A male and female. How would you go about taking them out when it come to improving the genepool for a better trophy rating?
To be honest I thought culling and herd management was a joke when i heard about it but i enjoy doing it glad its in game .........Thanks for the video....
I only just started so it's crazy to me that there wasn't sound to the water before. I did notice that waterfalls are way too quiet. There is a really big one up by the swampland and I am standing right next to it and it's barely making any noise. Anyone that has been near waterfalls, especially big ones, knows that they are LOUD. I am loving the game so far though and glad I came across your videos.
Thanks for letting me know! I am glad you found the Bear River Hunt Club as well! We are back in business after some time off and I am ready to start making for videos for you all!
Awesome tips man thanks for the video, I wonder if you could apply these tips with the rare fur types as well? High Fitness critters might help with that, right?
I made a video not long ago where I hunted two melanistic mule deer from the same herd. After harvesting, this was the very question on my mind! If I had let them live, would more melanistic Mules come from the hear?? As far as finding a rare fur type. yes, you will find them in the primary habitat locations. If you do come across rare fur types, that herd has high genetics!
I have played COTW and The Hunter Game a lot only bought this game five days ago because bows were not in game but next month that's all changing compound bows are here about time.. All I use are compound bows to hunt with and a shot gun. I only have 15 hours playing WOTH and I have seen things animal behaviors like moving and the way the move and feed and laying down and the way they look for danger better death animations even running when spooked and branches breaking when running away, and deer moving look so real and way better they sure as hell don't spin around when turning stiff legged, they move so much more realist by far the maps look beautiful. The flocks of sparrows flying up looks nice. Water sounds are great when near streams. Animals sounding off Is awesome and this game Is only less than a year old .Only thing COTW has over on WOTH are more and different antlers and skins. WOTH needs to go that direction because COTW that's where Its at TRU Racks lots of them and skins. Lets face It people who hunt are looking to hunt and kill the largest trophy animals' and antlers or horns In game. WOTH needs to add more antlers and Trophy's because that's what hunters who play these games want EW knows that. WOTH you already kill them with everything else from your game finish them off, add more antler styles and horns and keep It realistic, and don't give into the crybabies from COTW. EW some day will have to change to a new engine and better animal behaviors they half to down the road, a complete new game some day.
I honestly wish 5 stars were even more rare, they're a tad bit too common imo. And more antler variety is very welcome, i feel like all the animals i look at that are the same amount of stars and same age look @@Stagtastic
And what about the old animals ? For example i have a small herd of Alces ( old males rated ** and ***, and an adult + an old female) I would got potentially great offsprings but what if they die of old age before reproducing ?
I appreciate the type of fur indicator we get when we harvest. Overall, it is a lot easier to tell the different fur types when it comes to the animals age as well (Young, Adult, or mature) It is a lot clearer!!
I don't know how "rare," the furs are. On Nez, in the valley below the lodge, I took a black mule doe. Then, the same day, saw two more just west of the path you climb to Echo... In that sloped valley on the left side of the road just after you pass the path.
Stagtastic only have 15 hours and shot a five star mule deer yesterday near whitass area boy was i surprised to see It walking along a creek amazing looking deer and wounded It and shot It later . I guess this game you can even kill huge animals running around not worrying about heard management and that's nice most hunters just hope to see a huge deer some day while hunting, I have taken a few In my life time while hunting. The hills and mountains look the Sierria Mountains In Calif amazing
Correct, like in real life, you can come across some big animals without trying. But if you want consistent trophies, then you should consider herd management.
This was another great video, well put together, cheers. I'm new to the game and really enjoying it, my question is does herd management apply to free hunt mode as well? Is it interchangeable and relate with the herd management in story mode? Or is there no herd management in free hunt mode? Cheers all the best
How to act with animals where herd is only a male and a female? like bears or mooses (I know sometimes there are more than 2 but usually are only 2) for example. You never gonna be able to keep the herd with good balance of male/female numbers, as is only one of each. And there are some lonely animals too I think. Whitch strategics use in this cases? Thanks
Does low fitness mean low stars or low genetics? I.e. will a young 1-star buck with 90+ genetics still respond to a call? Really enjoying your content btw. I'm excited to see this channel grow!
Great question, and thanks for the encouraging words! Low fitness scores mean low genetics! A 1 star buck will have 90% genetics to begin with so they will not respond to a Low Fitness call. Their genetics have nothing to do with their age. Hope this helps!
Has there been a change to animal behaviour, because lately I have been attacked after shooting way more then before. Could also be just getting forward in the story that has triggered this.
They did change a lot of features recently. One of the ones you are referring to are that the animals will attack you and become aggressive if you shoot at them! Hope this helps!
I'm sure it's different on console, the best rating I've seen is 2 stars. I have shot all 1 star matures I come across, still not seeing anything better spawning in. Why??
Did you look at the genetics of the 1star matures?🧬 The higher the better. If a 1 star mature has 50% on the genetics than that 1star mature could be 2 or 3 star if you waited a bit longer.
1 star mature should ALWAYS be taken out, no matter what. year later and this vid still gives great useful information, got the game from a friend a few days ago and im loving it.
Really well explained vedio, thanks dude. Happy hunting

You explained this most clearly of the half dozen vids I've checked out on herd management, thank you!
Very well thought out video good job man watched it multiple times!
Thanks for the kind words!

Looking forward to your next new video on way of the hunter.
Liking your videos, thanks!
Thanks for the encouraging words! Thanks for being a part of the hunt club!
Let’s go new vid also new challenge idea get a 5 star in ranger difficulty with out the use of a scope or binoculars
That seems doable! I will put it on the calendar! Good to hear from you, OG!
Your video has helped me understand more. Even though I only have level 1 caller so it's a little harder but can't wait to apply these tips
Glad I could help you in this small way!
Thanks for the video! I am a n00b struggling to figure out how this game works. Appreciate the help.
Of course! Thanks for watching! If there is ever anything I can help you with, please let me know!
Awesome video bud!
very helpful thanks for the tips!
To be honest I thought culling and herd management was a joke when i heard about it but i enjoy doing it glad its in game .........Thanks for the video....
Glad you enjoyed it!
Right after watching this vid I saw my very first 5 star deer. A short time later I tagged said deer. Thank you!
Nice video ! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the encouraging words! I am glad you enjoyed it!
I always take the one star or two star matures I’ve had a white tail group to where an adult whitetail was a three star and a mature was a two
Its all in the genetics of the animal.

A greater variety of Antlers and trophies would be much welcomed by the community

I believe people who are familiar say it's the Idaho rockies.
Thanks bud 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Edit - just saw on main menu animal economy is shared between the two lol A LOT to take in cracking game 👍
Love the video

They respawn and act same way as the previous herd
I pretty much always cull 1star bucks and bulls no matter the age of their antlers are way uneven

Hrávam to aj ja je to súper hra
You clearly weren’t hunting in the start of this video, frolicking and jumping around like you were playing Fortnite.
Herd management is boring I’m gonna shoot some stuff
Go for it!
There nothing in this game to shoot at all
I don't like the sound of this. I just started playing and I'm not looking for work. I want to play for fun not micro manage imaginary animals.
Dont play it then. If you want to hunt just for fun, you have other games
@@AlejandroGonzalez-gw8vs Once the tasks were done there wasn't much reason to play. It's a good game but not very fun once all your goals are done.
