I started this game after playing the hunter call of the wild for a while now. It was a learning curve for me cause cotw was easier to hunt, tree stands, electronic caller and better more powerful guns where you can just change your ammo but not the gun. This game through for a loop but i love The way of the hunter so much now cause each hunt pays off as a learning moment and so many things you can do or even watch these animals if you dont want to shoot. Thank you for the videos!
Waiting for this to go on sale. Looks great. One thing from seeing these videos I like over CotW is the scope sway seems more realistic meaning it is better controlled. I hate how bad the scope sways in CotW even with the perks. It's as if he devs have never fired a rifle.
on sale on steam right now i just brought it for 20 comes with 1 map and some guns if you can get it id say get it its pretty fun so far and very beautiful
I keep coming back to this game. I used to try to herd manage the whole map, 5 or 6 species at once, but that was way too tedious, time passed too slowly. I'm going to manage 1, maybe 2 species in their primary hab at a time, and let the years pass more quickly. Get my 5 stars, then move on to the next species. Great explanation of the mechanics in your vid!
I played Call of the wild for a year.... Now I staryed this one and as a Hunter in real life I should say that Way of the Hunter is the real deal. Not easy tough but very good
Does anyone know, do rare fur colors also carry down in the gene pool? If you leave Mela or an Albino, will it potentially spawn later? I can't find an answer to that.. :/
Is it only the matures that procreate? Otherwise you can use the low genetics calls to lure in low genetics males of various ages, is it better to get rid of the oldest low gens first and then worry about adult and young low gens? I've never been able to fully understand how the replacement of aged out animals works. And do they only procreate after they expire or do they procreate every year?
So one thing that wasn't mentioned.. If herd size constant? Like if I take one in the grasslands, does another appear somewhere else in the grasslands? Or in that specific herd? Immediately or after a year?
Im also wandering, if i spend time in a different map, will my herds on other maps age along side or are they paused unless im on teir map? Sorry for all the questions, loved your video was really helpful
Where do you get the information about the geen pool of all deer in the grasslands? I cannot find any info about that, i thought each herd has different pool.
@YOTE1COYOTE same I only shot rare does but I did find a herd that had a melinistic doe and I watched them for like 5 in game days and they had no hucks in the herd 8 does only
Why only take out one buck at a time from each herd as your culling. I follow each herd around until I take out every buck in the herd that needs to be culled. Save you some trips and you'll learn a lot about your herds. Easy to do since they always come back. One hour of game play is 4 hours of in game play (day time). 15 min=1 hour. At night one hour game play is 6 hours of in game play. 10 min.= 1 hour. It's the time you spend on the ground in game that matters the most and not the sleeping time. In the coming update the devs are fixing it where sleeping will do nothing to change your animal's age. Sleeping will just give you a second chance at the animal. Playing the game for 5 hours is 1 in game day, I have discovered. You can age a buck to It's very last day if you're patient.
Antler size and shape, use the calls, look at the shoulder and neck size. Just have to realize the ones left will pass on their looks so if there are deer with big antlers or look real big it’s probably better to leave them. Older deer usually have thicker necks.
Look at their racks and their coats. The younger bucks of both mule and whitetail are usually lighter brown while more mature bucks are darker gray color and adults are in between as like a dark brown. Just judge based on that and wonky/unsymmetrical racks.

I like this game more than cotw bc of how much more in depth it is.

Yes definitely get rid of the oldest low for males first
Have you ever done a heard management video on Elk yet ? does it work the same way as it does with white tails and mule deer

When you are managing grass lands, how long do you sleep for at each camp, like what time of day the next morning do you wake up?
I manage during their drinking time. 11 am to 1 pm
You can choose when you wanna wake up
