Repairing Daikin U4 Error

In this video I repair a Daikin Air Conditioner that is displaying a U4 Fault Code. The U4 Fault is a communication error which can be caused by a few things but in this case it was the indoor PCB which was faulty. The root of the problem was actually a faulty fan motor which damaged the indoor PCB.

This job was VERY hot. Normally I’d change the fan over in the roof but it was unbearable that day! I actually jumped in the ocean after this job, and it felt amazing 😂

Thanks mate. It’s frustrating at the time but these things happen. The capacity adaptor wasn’t even displayed on the Daikin global data bank site. I had to get the spare parts chick to chase it up for me over the phone whilst driving to the spare parts factory.

Nice work. That’s a old unit. Did Daikin supply you the fan plug? Last time I wanted one they told me it was unavailable and I had to improvise it.

I got told the same thing so I also had to improvise. Luckily the plug was salvageable so I managed to clean it up and get it going.

I got told the same thing by mitsi. What i ended up doing was measuring the pitch (distance between each terminal) and plug dimensions, ordering a bunch of different plugs that came close

Just wondering is it possible to install a squirrel cage fan motor upside down if you flip the fan motor by accident when replacing itwould it cause the efficiency to go down or should not effect the barrels are put on correct way

Hey Mitch just a question. I recently just got qualified and want to buy units from daikin for weekend cashies. What did you need to set up a account with daikin to buy units?

So you need to ring up one of their trade centres (don’t bother ringing head office as they are a punish to deal with). They’ll only give you an account though if you buy more then a certain amount per month (I can’t remember the number). It’s not easy getting an account with Daikin. In the early days I used other brands because daikin acted like they didn’t want my business and it annoyed me. Now I have an account it’s fine. In your case I think it might be a bit hard only buying the occasional unit. Good luck!
