I first heard this song when I was 21 and it affected me then in a big way. With every year that passes, it becomes more and more poignant. I’m 56 now. Life gets mighty precious when there’s less of it to waste.
I am now 77 I have survived my addiction and the line in the song where life gets mighty precious when there is less of it to waste is particularly meaningful.
Go to bed she sings half a note out of key. Decent slide guitarist. Covers songs but writes few. All in all. Best female performance of all time. Each note is clear and crisp. Best tune ever. Maybe Patsy Cline was better or KD Lange. Maybe
Never give up, folks. Took me 39 years, countless wrong men, being a single parent & living a very isolated life to learn how to receive love as well as give. Now here we are, nearly 5 years strong but neither of us doubt that we both have found our person. Really does come when you're not even expecting.
Absolutely does. I had left my love life in God's hands and He rewarded me with the only man who would put up with me, grow spiritually with me, and love me for real - as best as a man can do. 💜☮️✝️✡️
The songwriting, production, vocals and melody on this song are at a different level. No wonder Bonnie won a Grammy for it. She even wrote the song alone, which is rare these days.
A song about our common fate. You can find love or not, but you WILL run out of time. Past 50, you can really feel the river sweep you along to your destiny, especially as your body starts breaking down.
As a kid I enjoyed this song but now it hits harder. I'll be 40 this April and I realize that I have just about as many yesterdays as tomorrows. Powerful song about time and love. 👌🏾❤
Get out there and enjoy as much as you can every day as precious as they seem for you today, they will be priceless to you in 25 more years as they are to me today Live every minute with peace on your heart and love like there’s no tomorrow
I got married at 43 and found my true soulmate. We have now been together almost 30 years. This song was my song back in the day when I met my husband.Great song----I consider it an anthem to those of us wait and wish and win.
I’m sorry, but this is just ridiculously, brilliantly, breathtakingly, life changingly, lovingly, meaningfully, beautifully, purposefully PERFECT!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the most perfect songs ever written. And nobody can do it quite like Bonnie Raitt herself. I had the great pleasure of witnessing exactly that when she came through London with her touring band about ten years ago. It was largely the same band that had recorded ‘Road Tested’ twenty five years prior to that (been with her ever since), which to my mind is one of the best live albums out there. The whole show was a masterpiece from beginning to end, plus her wonderful slide guitar and all the rest of it. But the biggest surprise of the evening, for me, was the sheer power of her voice. Maybe the people on the desk were messing with us but it seemed the sound engineers had to bring down her mic level urgently and substantially after the first few breaths. It just wasn’t normal. That’s a whole load of very tuneful SPLs you get at a Bonnie Raitt show!
"Nick of Time", is probably one of my top 3 favorite songs of all time. And lyrically, it's probably my #1 favorite song of all time. No other song has ever swelled emotion in me more consistently than this one. It rips my heart out and then heals it in less than 4 minutes. Outstanding song! I honestly wish many more people knew this song.
Nick of Time is in my top ten albums for sure. It exploded into my life when I was 32 and head over heels with a young lady. It didn't last but was the best year of my life. It took me a while to realize she was Nobody's Girl, a song from this album that breaks my heart to this day, just hoping she found whatever it was she was looking for.
A real gem of a tune that you will not hear the likes of at all today sadly. Evocative and profoundly composed. An absolutely beautiful tune from yesteryear of 1989. Better times.
"Life gets mighty precious when there's less of it to waste,". Thank you Bonnie Raitt, for the best relationship advice Ive ever had.My fave song of hers by far. Takes me back to wonderful time in my life.
Im shopping at a department store and was stopped in my steps and this song brought a nostalgia in my heart and I immediately went looking for the speaker to get the correct title to find it here on youtube . I completely forgot about this song until 2024 and it still hits my heart today.
Apart from the wonderful sound and Bonnie Raitt's unmistakable voice, the background singers Arnold McCuller and Fred White also contributed to the fact that this song became a masterpiece and is still one of the best rock/pop pieces ever. Together with their amazing singing colleague Bridgette Bryant, they were already an acoustic and visual highlight at Phil Collins' legendary "Seriously" concert in 1990 at the Waldbühne Berlin
Awwn❤ my heart melted right at reading this, y’all my fans are my blessings, thanks you! I would like to put you on my top fan club if you don’t mind ?
Bonnie sings this with genuine feelings. She was in her 40’s when she married, and sadly it didn’t last. I would say she didn’t find love in the nic of time… no kids and no husband, alone her whole life. The price for fame is much higher for women.
I've loved this artist for a very long time. I thought I knew the meaning behind this song for decades. Just tonight I have heard the message. Thank you, Ms. Lady. Thank you for your contribution! You are a tower among others. I thank you so much for your contribution!
Hello there, Mrs Bonnie here, I hope you are have a great day today although I don’t come on here often but I came across your comments today I just want to say thank you for the love and support towards me and my songs, I would like to have you on my top fan club if you don’t mind it’s a platform where you can communicate directly with me it’s the least I can do for a fan like you.
An absolute classic! It knocked me out when I first heard it, and affects me in exactly the same way today. the combination of Bonnie's voice, that fantastic lyric and perfect music make this one of the finest songs ever recorded, IMO.
Gorgeous tune. The lyrcis still resonate as much in my mid-50s as they did in my early 20s, when this was released -- the fear of time running out when you're pusuing something. Hearing Bonnie's soothing, soulful vocal and that gentle groove, I feel like everything will be OK. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music/Sacred & Secular
I was almost 50 when I married for the only time in 2006. 3 years later one of the girls I went to high school with decided she also would marry for her only time. I had been a blues singer for decades, so at her reception I have them this song. 😊✌💙

Classic song. I never get tired of listening to this.
This song hits different in your mid 40s
And at 62!! ❤️
It hits harder at 61😂❤

One of the reasons why she won four Grammys in 1989.
This song is a masterpiece. Bonnie is a great singer, songwriter, and player. Sings effortlessly with great feel, and tone.

wtf? there should be millions of people listening to this! it's one of greatest classics ever!
9 years on, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Coooooool♥️
it's interesting to me. I dont hear her pop hits from the early 90s talked about. But she is so good. I can never find this album on vinyl.
I had this song stuck in my head 🗣️ this morning.
Feel good knowing you're not just one of the herd
"Life gets mighty precious, when there's less of it to waste." Most favorite line
It's beautifully written.
The most truthful.
I used to play this on the jukebox in a Michigan bar in 1991. Everybody would just sit down, listen, and drink their beer.
❤
That's a Bonnie Raitt song in itself ❤
78 yr. old woman from Michigan , didn't do bars but one of my favorite songs
I have lived this song in many ways. I am an old lady now, Bonnie's age. Still loving life, listening to blues, jazz and bluegrass. Rock on.
ture words... I am an ol guy, thats the only difference...
I adore Bonnie. She never disappoints-- an irreplaceable musical treasure! Happy that I found her music four decades ago!

Indeed!
Truth!
Always love that line
They don't write them like this anymore
Yup
Bonnie Raitt is one of the most under rated singers. I love all her music and voice.💓
Definitely not underrated- she scored hugely with this album.

Rare these days? Did you sleep under a rock?
@@StillTheVoidAre you dumb or something? Look at most songs nowadays, most of them have several songwriters in collaboration.
Gotta sleep somewhere.
Rare even for Bonnie

2. keep going.
Still listening November 2024❤
Bonnie has been a superstar long before this album which, in 1989, finally gave her commercial recognition. The entire album is magic.
Amen! She's a true blues guitar player who can stand tall at her achievements. This is one powerful album for sure!❤
"I see my folks getting on and watch their bodies change, i know they see the same in me and it makes us both feel strange"...gets me everytime.
Incredible lyrics..
Listening in 2023!!! Phenomenal singer, talent and voice. One of a kind!!
Still love this song 12-9-2024❤😢

I'm here listening to this song in 2022! Hard to get used to the crap you hear on the radio these days. Still into the real music 🎶🎵❤
How sad you've allowed your mind to become narrow and calcified. There is great music today and it isn't difficult to find.
