You make it seems so easy, I love your gameplay and your decision making in tough situation. At 1:19:28 you drew 2 cards but your hand limit was 6 so you should have drawn 3. I played solo conquest a lot and also mine liberation, now I have to try this, It seems very cool and funny, thanks!!!
Thanks for the comment and great catch about the card draw, Matteo! That switch from 5 to 6 gets me more times than it should. :) I love Volkare's Quest and I think it's the best way to learn how to play against Volkare. Good luck!
1:20:42 interesting tidbit, since you had the Amulet of Sun in play, you could have actually used the gold mana die from the source instead of the red, and thus reroll one die in the source that is normally unusable at night.
Note: This is the last video I'll be posting with the old lighting set up, and I'm aware that the auto-focus was a little hyperactive in filming this one, especially in the early going. Fortunately, it becomes less of an issue as the playthrough moves on and I've since turned off that feature in subsequent videos thanks to a helpful comment. Stay tuned for a Solo Conquest live playthrough later this month!!
There's unofficial 3d printed "remakes" of all hero minis and Volkare on etsy. Not sure its worth it for a boardgamer, but as a minipainter I'm tempted. Braevalar especially gets a nice visual upgrade. Either way I'm really enjoying your playthroughs. Good tactics & pacing. Very enjoyable. I got back into MK in 2021 after a years long break and its been a blast.
Thanks for the comment and the tip, Niko - and welcome back to Atlantis!! 🙂 I’ve looked at a few alternate minis for this game in the past and I’ve always been tempted. Perhaps if I ever get back into mini painting, I’ll pick up a new Braevalar that actually looks like the bad ass crouching next to a bear that’s in the artwork!
I think you cant double the snowstorm if you already chose to have siege attacks become double and then be ranged right? Its either double all siege and they become ranged or double all ranged attacks? But you cant do both, right? You do it at 1:42:45
Thanks for the comment and nice catch. I’d have to go back to confirm but that sounds like a mistake I’d make. 🙂 Appreciate you adding that to the comments.
can we explore the map without any order? for example in wedge mode can we just go straight and straight whereas the side tiles haven't been explored yet?
You can go in any “order” provided each tile placement is in accordance with the rules that countryside tiles need to be adjacent to at least two tiles OR adjacent to a tile adjacent to at least two tiles, and core tiles can’t go on the coast (in wedge maps) and have to be adjacent to at least two tiles. I’ve had many a game in which the countryside tiles in two long rows of interlocked tiles, but this often isn’t the most efficient from a movement standpoint. Hope this makes sense!
@@SoloPlaythroughs Would you please say that this map is correct or not? Wedge Map. instagram.com/p/CE3WtzaB0Qi/ as you see I've not placed any tiles out of the borders of the wedge but I couldn't make a complete wedge, u said about two long rows and I got more sure that I'm doing right :)
It looks right to me! Although it also looks like a ton of countryside tiles. In a solo game (or 2 player game), you are only supposed to use 8 countryside tiles, including the two that start on the board during set up. So, unless you were playing with 4 heroes, you might have made your mission a lot harder here! :)
Hey Greg... I’ve never played MK but I am enjoying your plays. You got me interested in Spirit Island and I purchased it. I think I would enjoy MK much more so I will have to make it my next Purchase...Lol. Man, I have at least three impulse buys that I need to sell anyway. Maybe those can fund MK. Just a wild guess... this is your favorite solo game?
Hey man. My favorite solo game list mirrors my Top 10 pretty closely, with Arkham Horror LCG still edging out Mage Knight, followed by Spirit Island. But, as I've said before, it's not a truly fair comparison because of the amount of content that exists for Arkham and its ever-evolving card pool. That said, Arkham has recently shown some disappointing level of disregard for balancing some of its scenarios for true solo play; so, if that trend continues, the tide may be turning in favor of Mage Knight... :)
Solo Playthroughs ... Ok, AH... that’s interesting. I like AH but I haven’t even finished the core scenario yet so I don’t watch any play throughs for spoilers sake. I got two core sets actually because... well you know why. Also got Dunwich and the first two scenario packs so I really need to get with it. Gonna finish watching this. L8R.
No doubt; there’s something to be said about the experience of playing each scenario the first time. But, after that, I find most of the scenarios to have near infinite replayability. (I’m also a big fan of the “Return tos” which add even more variables that cause you to experience the same scenarios in new ways.) IMO, for a lot of the investigators, you will really want to get all the cards from Dunwich (and maybe even Carcosa) before they are viable to play a true solo 8 scenario campaign on standard difficulty. So it’s definitely an investment that is not worth it for everyone.
Ha! Yeah - the solitary dislike is a surprisingly common occurrence on my videos and I’ll never understand it. It’s always fun to theorize about like this though! 🤣
If I could ask for one change. Could you soften your card flipping. It literally destroys my ears when using headphones. Otherwise thanks. Awesome game! This is helping me become a better player.
Thanks for the request/comment. I hadn't noticed this particular sound being especially loud but I'll be sure to be more aware of the potential issue when playing and editing in the future. Glad the playthroughs are helping! :)

The horn is probably the best artifact in the game, it is really strong
For sure. Love it. And pretty sure it was the first time I had it combined with the Bow of Starsdawn against Volkare. So sick!!
@@SoloPlaythroughs Yeah, destroyed Volkare's army easily!

Who is the one person who dislikes this? Someone who really loves Braevalar and is angry at you bashing the ugly mini?
