Yes, but the Prisoner Mask is not from griffiths helmet, but from the man with the iron mask which was a french king who got imprisoned and had to wear it so people dont recognize him as the king since he was the righful heir to the throne
Yes, Miyazaki loves Berserk. However, some of these aren't direct references as Berserk took heavy inspiration from middle-aged Europe. The Church to execute heretics would tie a person to the spokes of wheels and twist them, then leave the wheels on sticks. That visual you see in Berserk and Dark Souls likely happened many times in history.
But nobody claimed Berserk is not inspired by medieval history, just that Miyazaki first exposer to it was Berserk which heavily inspired him to bring the aesthetic into his game.
The wheel decorations are a medieval execution and torture method, i specifically know of them from Romania where two beloved revolutionaries got executed this way. It involved being strapped to the wheel and have all the bones broken with a hammer starting with the arms and feet for maximum pain and suffering.
The Hunter's Mark is actually significant as a symbol too in Bloodborne. The design if the Hunter's Mark is to represent someone hanging upside down, with their arms hanging by thwir head. It's an image that appears repeatedly in Bloodborne but not just as a mark, but as a real representation; beasts hanging in similar fashion on massive stakes
All the people on this video acting like these are coincidences are just betraying their lack of knowledge. Miyazaki is known to be a huge Berserk fan and on the record took inspiration from Berserk for Dark Souls.
Artorias of the abyss is supposed to embody Guts and the Berserk armor. This is confirmed in an interview with the director when he says that both have only one arm (Artorias’ arm is basically dust inside his armor), both use gigantic swords, both use the same moves to attack and both have especially cruel and sad backstories
They both symbolize a continuous struggle. In my opinion at least. The dark sign symbolizes the cycle of slaying powerful souls and sacrificing yourself to feed the first flame, and the eclipse symbolizes the sacrifice of everything significant to oneself to ascend to godhood along with the rest of the God hand before you which all made the same choice. They both are polar opposites, sure. Sacrificing yourself to prolong the world is selfless, and sacrificing everything to ascend is selfish. But nonetheless they both tackle a loop of sufferage.
