genuinely convinced this is one of the greatest songs ever conceived. it keeps me up at night just to think about the emotion and the meaning. i think i’ll be thinking of this song when i die.
I dont think it's as well known as Cotton Eyed Joe, tbh. Believe me, I wish it were. I've tried showing it to other people a lot because it's such an iconic song to me.
I think the cast wearing pink shoes, is kinda poetic…. All Judy’s life, she never felt pretty/always insecure about her looks… as the title of the song, Judy Garland, and the pink shoes…. Pretty in PINK…. Pretty in pink is better than having red shoes! maybe it’s a metaphor for Mrs. Garland… judy you were always pretty lookswise but even more so in life/love/personality and character!❤️
Love this song and have been listening to it for months but I'm so confused at the message behind the song. Is it about remembering Judy and the pressure that Hollywood put on stars such as her? That's what I get from it.
It's Judy Garland saying that for her...to dance is to live ...she doesn't know why she has to dance, but she must. I think it sets the tone for her passion and that of the song :)
"Judy Garland hit the bathroom floor of her cold apartment 'bove a chelsea store." It says it right there, she passed away in her home...now unless you know exactly where she lived and can prove this wasn't the case, apartments above places of business are fairly common so it's not out of the realm of possibility that hers was.
i hate to break up this exchange but: "On June 22, 1969, Deans found Garland dead in the bathroom of their rented mews house in Cadogan Lane, Belgravia, London; she was 47 years old." :(((

It's so true though! It always bring a smile to my face too!
thank you God for these two boys from Brooklyn making not-country country music
you said it best.
This is Cotton Eyed Joe for people who listen to Orville Peck. Where has this been all my life?
an apt summation indeed, very well put
hell yes. love this comment, well done

The prechorus is one of the most expressive things ive ever heard in my life
"Why do you want to live?
I don't know exactly why, but I must."
I truly and not often enough believe this is one of the greatest songs ever written. period.
AGREED!

Frog are a great band
Now I know where the clip at the start is from. "The Red Shoes".
Thanks Adam Neely from the Wayne Shorter video.
This song makes me think of Jynx Monsoon and her love of Judy.
Great song! so bittersweet

It's about her dead due to an overdose
brilliant
Why does the guy at the beginning change his accent from English to some weird impression of French? Perplexing
Who cares his facial expressions are poetic
Anton Walbrook; Austrian actor who also spoke English and French.
all my friends sleep on Frog
woah 0 dislikes niceeee
yr gonna jinx it!
why is the first clip relevant? genuine curiosity

@@MidletonButerfingers that isn't Judy Garland in the beginning. Also Judy wasn't known for dancing, she was known for singing.
Watch 'The Red Shoes' and find out.
If only those slippers were actually red.
That song is tight but, video?
Trash.
Judy Garland died at home not on top of a store

@@tm-sl3rk Belgravia is right next to Chelsea - maybe it just sounded better in the song.
