Buddhist nun and psychologist Dr Chönyi Taylor explains that although Buddhism and Western psychology both focus on methods of managing behavior that we want to change, Buddhism goes much deeper by eliminating them altogether.

As a psychology student and 31 years Zen practitioner, I would say that Buddhism goes much further than modern psychology in transformation of mental sufferings and consciousness. But psychology has a lot to contribute in testing Buddhist methods to make it applicable to the modern world and the average person instead of only monastics. There are some areas Buddhism does really well and some areas psychology does well. Both can support each other to help the most people around the world.

That's like saying apple tastes good because of marketing.
If at all that's done by western psychology it's made a business scheme out of helping others out. What a JOKE !!!

Would you be so kind and elaborate more on your thoughts about this topic? I am a psychology student as well and I am on a "spiritual path" concerning mainly Buddhism. I sometimes think: "Why all this? Why study psychology in order to help other people when there seem to be paths that completely liberate the mind?"
I would love to hear your thoughts on all this! :)
