by her own definition, shouldn't catastrophizing be the opposite - and not the other word for - equanimity?

Sorry but she says the other word often used for equanimity in western psychology is "catastrophising" . I don't think she meant to say that ....catastrophising is the opposite of equanimity. I should also point out that although the term has been used by Kabat Zinn it certainly didn't come from him !
Must have been an off day ...we all have them!

Nope. You beautifully described Detachment (the indifference to outcomes), at least from a stoic perspective. For example, I am indifferent to whether or not I get some chocolate.
Equanimity is more about getting back on track and not getting upset when circumstance pushes you off course.
Both are rooted in 'balance', however.

I wouldn't share it because sadly much of what she says is wrong! See my comment above if interested.

When I read the book , An Open Heart....I learned how to practice the art of equanimity. I feel so at peace now letting go and being reasonable

    Fantastic explanation by Dr Taylor!

Maybe fantastic but sadly she talks complete nonsense both in her comparison with catastrophising and the reference to Kabbat Zinn ...presume she was having a "senior moment" when this was recorded . Much of Buddhism is about "paying attention" and in this case neither she ..or the people who put the video up have done so I'm afraid . Not surprising people are confused !
