As a Hindu I agree to it. The goal of Raja yoga of Hinduism has similarities with Buddhism, like suffering, control of mind by Meditation, and at the end attaining Samadhi (Nirvana in Buddhism). Samadhi is the end of all suffering and escape from Karma and the Yogi would enjoy eternal Bliss

My force isn't force to the universe. What makes a life is not knowing what makes me is still being empty of knowledge to move on in life. Taoism believes we are water going to the sea. Good and Bad is the same because we don't deal with them only because they represent something sacred also - people. Beauty and Ugly are the same for the same reasons . Hi there, wanted to ask you a question. They say we are not our thoughts, but I have been searching through meditation for the real self behind the thoughts and can't find it. It seems that to me all I see are thoughts "the ego" but no self at all. They say the self is pure awareness but I can't seem to find that pure awareness. All I see are thoughts. Thank you.

@@Blades729 You say, "all I see are thoughts." Who is this "I" that is seeing the thoughts? By recognizing that "you" are observing something (your thoughts), you have already made the distinction between two separate things: You and your thoughts. Just like how you can observe a tree because it is detached from you, you can observe your thoughts because your thoughts are not attached to you either. Does that make sense?

One Buddhist idea that has helped me understand myself is the 5 Aggregates: form, feeling, perception, mental formations, consciousness. For example, I see a nice man (material form); I have a pleasant feeling (feelings); as I perceive him to belong to my category of pleasant forms (perceptions); I indulge all sorts of fantasies about this man (mental formations); all this enabled by consciousness of the initial form (consciousness). All this can happen so fast that before you know, you're acting on that initial consciousness of form. However, with mindfulness and time, you start to notice it happening. At first, this insight is after the fact, and you can even trace it back. With further time and practice, it becomes easier to see.

My story. I had a child at 23yrs. Cleaned houses so I could keep him with me. Degrading. People appreciated my hard work and dedication. They paid me fairly. I enjoyed pleasing "clients". Got better and faster all so to have more appreciation (worth) come to me. Money followed. I now have a thriving cleaning service, 6 figures/yr. I honor my clients deeply. In turn, I've been rewarded (I am worth it). I am thankful. I am humble. I am not attached because there is no trying (it is my livelihood, yes). It came to me. 30yrs (not sure what I would otherwise). The 'quieter' I have become, the more pain and suffering I see. The more I listen, the more I hear.
We still have to live and abide by the rules of this society. Money needs to be made. Still have to interact with others. This is a balancing act. Sometimes I have a hard time knowing which way to turn. Life can be such a struggle when I have too much 'activity'.
      Om Shanti

I am someone who struggled with self-discipline even when I know I shouldn't be doing it. And just recently I've turned to the wisdoms of Buddhism and now I want to talk about my own personal experience with that lack of discipline.
don't be ignorant towards your own desires. the more i tried to supress my desires the more i thought about it. and the longer that i suppressed to it the easier i fell into it once again. and when now that i've started watching videos on self development, the more i realized that i should acknowledge them. but not pursue them. and maybe it's only for me but it helped me. it allowed me to think about more thinks and not just "i shouldn't do that" over and over in my head. I told myself "I know that i want to do this. the people are me are also doing it, encouraging me to do the same. but there are consequences to this desire. will you continue having that short periods of pleasure now and suffer the consequences later? will you turn your back the promises you made? now that you've experienced the consequences of your decision, will you continue going down this road?"
and there's more to it but this is the general concept of it. it's impossible not to have desires. desire has made society progress. desire is a part of having goals. and sometimes, you have the desire to do things that will only slow you down. acknowledge that you have those desires but do not pursue them. don't be one of those people who swore not to drink and later smell the alcohol leading them into drinking. itch and the itch will spread. don't entertain those itches. don't let them control you. you are the captain of your boat. not money, not alcohol, not games, not anything. you decide what road you choose to go down on.

Sure is. Buddha said that language was given to us by Heaven and contains many clues to wisdom. The word boring for instance. What does a drill do, it bores and when are minds are not entertained by such things as drugs, both legal and illegal, alcohol, eating, dieting, exercising, jogging, TV, Internet, Tweeting, sports, shopping, gambling, porno, sex, a hobby, reading, cooking, working, the list is endless, we say that we are bored. And that is what is happening, our consciousness begins to look inside and we are not used to that feeling and become uncomfortable. BORING. The great teaching Falun Dafa shows us how to dig deeper, where true wisdom is found.

For me buddhaism is not a religion but a teaching towards life's freedom and inner peace. I believe in meditation because it helped me relieve years of stress and anger.

    “Too lazy to be ambitious,
I let the world take care of itself.
    Ten days’ worth of rice in my bag;
a bundle of twigs by the fireplace.
    Why chatter about delusion and
    enlightenment?
Listening to the night rain on my roof,
I sit comfortably, with both legs stretched
    out.”
-Ryōkan, 18th century Sōtō Zen Buddhist monk

Is funny how nearly every religion or life philosophy has in common the control/influence of consciousness on the mind and/or body. The first philosophical realization was literally the huge extent of our ignorance [Socrates : "One thing i know know it's that i know nothing"]. With that knowledge, peoples started to understand and the more they understand, the more they realize what they don't control and what they don't know. Knowledge is power.

Buddhism is about basic principles of life to live happily. The best quote is “Do not harm or hurt others”, if you don’t hurt others they won’t hurt you. That’s why I’m going V-gain. 🤗
