For TVXQ, I actually like their performance better much more than their official music video. Their energy are on a different level. They have huge choreography both in Korea and Japan, so you'll have a lot of options. Thank you for reacting to them

Yes, TVXQ! Definitely one of the best K-pop groups of all time! Mirotic's chorus is smooth, especially the line "I got you, under my skin." Other songs I recommend are Rising Sun (best Kpop song of all time imo), Catch Me, O-Jung.Ban.Hap., and Keep Your Head Down

As well as Changmin's solo songs Devil (southern gospel/blues), Fever (theatrical, jazzy) and Maniac (could almost be a Queen song), I think as a metal fan you might also be interested in hearing the slightly weird vibes in a few other early TVXQ songs - Rising Sun, Tri-Angle, and O (Jung.Ban.Hap). They're really not like the 'typical' kpop sound and are almost avant garde, in a way, especially for the era in which they were released.
For later stuff, you might also like Spellbound and Something (both have a jazzy, big band feel), Keep Your Head Down (rock), and the Japanese songs B.U.T and I Think U Know (kind of hard rock electronica, almost like The Prodogy or something).
Yunho's solo Thank U is also very different to most kpop, and the song, MV and choreography are heavily influenced by old Asian gangster/kung fu films.

Forgot to add, the reason their voices are so good is because their initial concept was an acapella idol group. So they were specifically chosen for their ability to sing, and sing together, exceptionally well. There are some MVs and other compilations on TH-cam where they sing in pure acapella, often live, if you want to check that out, too.

Please react to their live performances, they are the group that got me into kpop and when they were still a group of five, they were the top group. Their vocals are insane. You may also want to react to Jaejoong’s and Junsu’s solo work ( Jaejoong: Mine, Maze / Junsu: Flower, Tarantallegra)

5 members TVXQ...The best of the best...I mean literally...Back in the day SM picked 5 BEST trainee in the company and form TVXQ...The rest of the trainees formed Super Junior. You should react to their ballads Bolero and Love in the ice. They weren't called Gods of the East for nothing. They had Guiness record of being the boygroup with biggest fanclub in the world around 2008-2009. Unfortunately, the crazy vocal you saw was the result of them being overworked in Japan+Korea by "slave" contract under SM during that time, leading to the departure of 3 out of 5 members in 2009. The split of TVXQ forced the whole industry to reduce number of years in artists' contract with the company. Mirotic is also the most covered kpop song by other kpop groups. So yeah, you are reacting to maybe the most important group in kpop history.

If you like metal then you should definitely listen to Kim Jaejoong, former member of TVXQ. He has alot of rock songs in particular, Mine, Just Another Girl, 9+1, Butterfly, Breaking Dawn. I would also check out Junsu's "Flower" (he goes under the name Xia for this too). Yes because of "problems" TVXQ have gone from 5 to 2, Changmin and Yunho, still bringing it. SM doesn’t have any bad groups. TVXQ is still active although with only two members. Max Changmin is EXO main vocal level talented and of course is their predecessor. As far as older kpop groups relevancy, kpop fans stay loyal to the bands they loved when they were younger. And maybe the younger generations don’t listen to the older groups as much so their numbers aren’t as high as the latest groups. But I think besides their hard core, long term fans, older kpop groups are still gaining fans in other countries. For so many of us shall we a say more mature fans 😊, since it’s all new to us, we just keep wanting more and are excited to check out the groups that inspired our favourite groups to go into kpop. So groups like TVXQ and Super Junior still have growing audiences around the world.

    • @Killdeer25
      @Killdeer25  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think that could be, I know it's a big problem in the metal community, a lot of popular bands from back in the day are generally kicked to the side of obscurity

Wow Aaron, you’ve really done your k-pop research! To say I was surprised to see this reaction is an understatement. TVXQ is my favorite all-time group - the five member and now the two which features Yunho and Changmin ( you will have to react to Max Changmin “Devil” soon, it will blow your mind). I look forward to your TVXQ journey, another couple group classics with the now 2 member piece are “Keep Your Head Down” and “Before U Go.” Also, a couple of good ones from the five though are “Rising Sun” and “Purple Line” among the others listed. Thank you again for this reaction. A superb cover of “Mirotic” was performed by the group Monsta X.

"Mirotic," which came out in 2008 when TVXQ was still a 5 member group, is a classic in the Kpop industry and every new rookie group -- both boy groups and girl groups -- learn this song and choreography and almost every rookie has performed it on music programs, award shows, at showcases, etc. at least once in their career. This song, like SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong," Girls' Generation's "Gee" and Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," etc. is pretty much compulsory for everyone in the entertainment industry to know and learn the song and dance to.
Fun fact: "Mirotic" is a made up word that really has no meaning, but it is derived from a play on the word mirror + otic -- the title was originally supposed to be something like mirror but they thought the word sounded better if you added otic to the end of it, (it made it sound cooler, or something.)
In the MV for "Mirotic" the woman is supposed to be a siren, like from Greek mythology, and she is tempting and trapping or luring the TVXQ members to her. Like they say in the song "... I got you under my skin ..." But in the end you see how the members have broke free from her control. (Often in Greek mythology the siren, through her intoxicating love powers, lures guys to their deaths.)
Also, you should know, that the "red ocean" they are referring to in the lyrics has a double meaning -- TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red, so when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi.
As an SM Entertainment group, it's no surprise that TVXQ are outstanding vocalists. Being some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry is what we have come to expect from all of SM's artists and groups. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company.
Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group.
But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.)
However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas was TVXQ/DBSK 19th anniversary, and even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap.
Changmin was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 34 and U-know is 36. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together.
Changmin is the main vocalist of the group, who is considered one of the best vocalists in the entire industry.
U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His passion is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.)
The funny thing is personality-wise, Changmin and U-Know are complete opposites in almost every way. Changmin is quiet, calm and level headed and prefers to be alone; and U-Know is loud, high energy, intense and prefers to be with a group of people.
Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.

A legendary song by a legendary group...they are SM Royalty....the Godfathers like you said...but other Godfathers are Big Bang (the actual Kings of Kpop), Super Junior, Shinee, and solo artist Rain (Jung Ji-hoon).
Have you ever seen the movie "Ninja Assassin" about 10 years ago or so...Rain was the main star and it's such a good movie! But that movie led me into checking this man out and BAM....him being a singer and the world of Kpop fell into my lap.....I was in heaven!! And all the other legends above fell along with Rain, into my curious life...Exo, the love of my life, came years later...but damn, that movie and Rain, changed my life! Nothing but K-dramas, Kpop and Korean movies and tv since then...thank you RAIN!! And being a born and bred American who loves all music, I even dabble in learning the Korean language and love to eat and cook Korean food. RAIN, look what you've done to me! 🤣
My favorite Rain song, check it out Aaron (on your own time if you want), it's an oldie from 2004, but VERY famous...during Rain's younger hey day....

@@Killdeer25 Please react to JYJ - W. It is their best and most emotional song because they dedicated that song to the remaining two members in TVXQ. And as always, that song has crazy crazy live vocal. Here is the link with engsub: th-cam.com/video/VeWDwrWk9o8/w-d-xo.html

Well they are a SM group and SM is considered kpop's vocal house, TVXQ is predecessors to Super junior, Shinee and Exo
And Mirotic is an OG in Kpop,a handful of groups covered this song including Exo back in their rookie days. Exo-k & Exo-m each did a version, in one chen sang the famous highnote & in the other baekhyun did

TVXQ are also under SM, so yeah great vocals, same as EXO and Shinee. BTW, the best kpop vocal group IMO is Super Junior, also an older group under SM. If you want to check them out, I'd recommend 'Burn the floor', which is relatively recent.
TVXQ debuted in late 2003 and split in 2010, three members left SM and formed JYJ (basically inactive for years now, but the two J's work as soloists) and two members who stayed with SM continued as TVXQ. The TVXQ duo is still active to this day, I'd recommend their song 'Chance of love'. They also release solo music, one of the members, Changmin's recent song 'Devil' might be something you'd enjoy.
