I prefer embracing the imperfections in vocals over listening to the majority of K-pop groups whose live performances often involve lip-syncing or excessive use of autotune and edits. Every mistake in their vocals makes me go "wow" and proves that they are consistently performing live. This genuine live performance is what I truly appreciate, and I love it ❤️ It's rare to find a group that delivers pure live vocals while dancing.

Thank you for reacting to this performance. Just to put a bit of context on it: I always thought their little vocal "mistakes" were due to fan screams, hard choreo and no backtracking in a full live performance. But it's also a time where they were seriously overworked, always on flights between Korea and Japan and if I remember correctly they slept like 4 hours a night. You just need to see how many albums, singles and tours they did in just 4 years of existence. They were also only 20 to 22 years old so they have matured vocally a lot since then (particularly Yunho). JYJ lawsuit for ending the slave contract happened only the year after so I think they were just exhausted which make the performance even more incredible to me. On another note: MKMF was later renammed as the MAMA if you don't know. And every year after watching the MAMA's I come back to this performance just because... You should definitely listen to the full songs of the medley: Hug (debut song), The way you are (1st album), Rising Sun (2nd album), O jung ban hap (3rd one) and Purple Line (released in 2008 before the 4th album - Mirotic). You can also react to TVXQ Killing Voice episode where the go through their whole career (even if it's just Yunho and Changmin). Changmin also did some more Rock vibe songs: you can check is live cover of X Japan - Rusty nail. It's so good. Sorry for the long comment. I'm just too happy to watch new reactors to TVXQ. 😁

yes, they were overworked and also if I remember well, they made only one rehearsal for this stage and all the moves cause before that they were in Japan with other activities 🥺
Great reaction, thanks! And yes, Junsu always danced like that, he is very passionate both when dancing and singing, and that passion translated into great acting in his musicals! Jaejoong’s voice used to suffered from all their constant activities and lack of rest, so sometimes in lives he seemed a bit off. It also didn’t help that in Japan he was the main vocalist, always in charge of the choruses and always required to sing live those difficult ballads with almost no backing tracks. Also, when you put a monster of live performances like Junsu ,and also Changmin whose voice was always incredibly stable, it really became a battle to keep up vocally. At the end of their very demanding concerts, when even Changmin’s voice started to fail him a little bit, you could always count on Junsu to keep going with dancing and singing. So I think Jaejoong’a voice is a better indicator of how overworked the group was at any particular moment.

I once went to a live presentation for tvxq and korean fans are reaaaally organized, they gave to every one attending, a paper with the fanchants on what you have to say and where you have to say it, it’s not that they practiced before hand, they just have instructions for everyone, and if there is a special event like showing banners or lights, there were paper instructions for that too and at the end it all came in sync 🤭
And yes, unfortunately even though the lyrics aren’t exactly autobiographical, the group as a whole suffered greatly from the stalker culture that robbed them of their freedom and peace. To this day, Jaejoong is still struggling with stalkers at his concerts and his home. Sadly, I imagine the same goes for Junsu and the TVXQ duo… even after 20 years!

Junsu said it's more difficult to sing lower note than higher note when you dancing. The parts of background track with studio version vocals usually are chorus parts, rap parts and the whole final parts. But they still do their best to sing all parts live, just sometimes due to the choreography or they need to breath or their own conditions at that time, there may have few parts skip here and there or sing with lower volume,so we can't hear that.
