- Watch Episode 8 of the women’s post-season recap of the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games.
On the last day of the CrossFit Games, three events remain. Tia-Clair Toomey begins the day in the lead, followed by Laura Horvath in second and Kara Saunders in third.
The athletes face three very different challenges: Two-Stroke Pull challenges metabolic conditioning and grit, Handstand Walk tests balance and gymnastic virtuosity, and Aeneas, named for the Trojan hero who carried his father from a burning city, requires athletes to move the length of the competition field under a heavy yoke.
We get a closer look at the overall leader, Toomey, and learn how her mental game has evolved from her rookie year.
The pressure builds as the athletes take the floor for the final event, where everything is on the line and the triplet of movements require skill, focus, and strength.

Her technic on the rings are so better then all other, she lift her legs up front, gives way more mass movement then what the other does, as they only make lift with from belove their knees. Full legs vs only bellow knee! FULL legs win everytime. She saves so much energy compared. I cant belive nobody else seen this!

I feel like crossfit women need a glute circuit, which focuses on hourglass figure movements. Front loaded movements that hit the glutes and less on the obliques.
Such as...
1. Goblet squat [wall ball tosses]
2. Sandbag Sumo Deadlifts [alternating shoulder loading]
2. Kneel to Lunge, get up [sandbag shoulder loaded]
3. Split Squat Deadlifts w/Kettlebells or Sandbags [alternate/rotate]
What happened to the Behind the Scenes and Road to the Games series? Those were one of the main reasons I subscribed to the Journal so many years ago. It's been really disappointing not having those!

Yeah, i noticed that too. Thats the issue with having so many judges, you're bound to have a few that don't uphold standards
I was lost today but cross fit viewing put me on the podiu
34:34 in the video, Toomey's judge makes her move up her score card to show completion. Then right next to her Horvaths judge does not make her do the same, thus giving Horvath a slight lead. Weird.

Those secs are crucial....
That's the problem with these large events with a dozen or more people going at the same time, happens every year. Judges aren't 100% on the same page and some have more leeway than others. Sometimes it doesn't matter much, other times it matters quite a bit.

its not about being smart, its about controlling your emotions, the pain, the anxiety, the fear, the exhaustion. I think thats what he meant by "all mental", because all of these women have the physical strenght and the muscles, but not all of them have the mental strenght to keep going.

At 34:39 you can see how one judge makes Tia Toomey mark her final rep and she has to lose a fraction of time as a result. Meanwhile the girl right beside her didn't have to do that. They really need to work on their judging, that's just unacceptable, and it's not the only time the judges have messed things up in these events. AND she literally loses this event to that woman and by seconds.....You can even hear the commentators mention it and likely notice what I'm talking about but kept quiet about the fact that the other girl didn't have to do the same thing.
That woman is Laura Horvat. If you look closely non of the other ladies move the sticker as well

what happened with crossfit media.... took a massive downturn this year. No movie and no good videos preparing for the games just these crossfit game videos which everyone already watched basically this an entire year ago. Really disappointed in them this year, terrible way to "grow"
They fired everyone responsible for those movies and videos.

@@alexhuxtable3165 Not 100% sure but there are plenty articles out on it. If I remember correctly, Glassman felt the Games were getting out of hand (too expensive,not what he wanted for his brand) so he pulled a 180 on the business and company to make CrossFit more of the everyman sport.
