- WE GOT TO SEE SOKKA, TOPH, AND AANG AS ADULTS!!! We also saw Yakone's power, and boy was it TERRIFYING! Not to mention Amon vs Tarrlok, Korra being trapped, and Lin Beifong going OFF! Feels like we're in the endgame now, and we can't WAIT to see what happens next!

This episode really highlights one of my favorite aspects of Avatar that often flies under the radar, which is consequence.
Every decision made by every character will have SOME kind of consequence, even if that consequence isn't immediate.
The obvious one is always Roku's decision to spare Sozin and the consequence of the Hundred Year War.
My personal favorite is Kyoshi's creation of the Dai Lee and the consequence of their corruption and how that was detrimental to Aang when he arrived in Ba Sing Se.
In this case, Aang's decision to take away Yakone's bending rather than killing him lead to the consequence of Amon rising and Korra having to deal with him.
YES🙌 This is such an amazing take. The theme also coincides with forgiveness and redemption which is something many of the characters have to reckon with.
Not to mention, we’ll also see the theme of consequence later with a certain past character in Season 2 and with Korra in later seasons.

I always loved how much more horrific blood bending looks in Korra. With the sounds it makes it looks like it’s agonizing to go through

I'm honestly surprised not more ppl noticed yakone had mr krabs va.
Okay but when Yakone lifted Toph. She couldn’t feel anything. All her friends and herself were in mortal danger and she had no idea what was happening. That alone would be terrifying for her. But add the PTSD she most likely had from being on the blimp and not able to feel when Sokka was holding her.

That scene when Amon resists blood bending is the best in the entire show. It makes you rethink everything because 1. Tarlok isn’t Amon 2. Blood bending doesn’t affect him 3. WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY.

I also liked how they included the fact that Katara was the one who banned blood bending. It really shows that all of Team Avatar had an important role in the changes of the four nations

Honestly, this is the first reaction I've seen to identify the likely reason.
I loved how this episode did such a great job of balancing the attention to both the old Team Avatar and the new Team Avatar and they gave both plenty of screen time.

He's still a kid who most likely doesn't understand his feelings and was raised by the streets to survive. He's lost not evil. Again. He can’t control his feelings. In his mind, he didn’t see what he was doing as trying to get in a relationship with her. He saw it as him being really worried about Korra and just being happy he’s ok. He can’t control his feelings. What he did in this episode wasn’t him being a snake as y’all say, just him expressing his feelings. But if it was a girl doin this, y’all’s first instinct would be to defend them which is sad y’all can’t keep the same energy.(i said yall as I was speaking in general. Not u specifically)

Notice how every single icicle that Korra threw at Amon missed without him having dodged to avoid them at all...a subtle hint from the writers that I love.
Yep , he was able to bend without using his hands so he most likely bended the ice or just bloodbended Korra's hands to miss (which he canonically did)

I love how when Aang is chasing Yakone in the carriage, he chose to save the horse instead of just taking out the whole carriage. Just a nice detail that stays true to his character.
I loved the flashbacks in this episode, even though we got little of him, I think the few moments we got of Sokka were really enjoyable. He's noticably different but still got his humor that we all love.
When this show first came out, people were theorizing that Amon was like an evil form of Aang. That’s how powerful this guy was

Avatar and Korra is a fictional world. Aang may have been based on Tibetan Monks but his design in this universe was basically a white bald kid. It’s not white washing because this is a made up universe where race obviously isn’t that big of a deal.
Very important observation about the Avatar state! The glow was only constant because Aang wasn‘t in control. As we always saw with Roku, Kyoshi and Aang in the finale (when he raises the ocean to stop the fires), the actual Avatar state is only a short flash. Lots of people never realize this and get confused about it later.
I want to highlight that, unlike Tarrlok, Yakone was able to bloodbend that entire courtroom without moving. He mastered PSYCHIC bloodbending, putting him among the most powerful non-avatar benders ever.

I love the detail that Naga could smell Korra despite how far from the city she was. Polar bears can smell their prey from up to 20 miles away, so it makes sense that Naga tracked her.
i never get sick of that going-upstairs reveal. It shakes me everytime.

Seeing the old gang grown up and Aang back in action was great, but Amon's badassery stole the show in this episode.
theres actually 2 non benders on the old council. Sokka and an air nomad. Because Aang was the only air bender, and Tenzin was so young.

I forgot where I read it, but someone had the thought that bending a living being was inherently more difficult than just bending water because you have to fight against their chi, and the full moon allowed people to do that.
I kind of imagine the avatar state as the ultimate power up to your chi, I think the creators said somewhere that aang’s tattoos glow because they are along the chi paths. and this would explain how yakone lost his grip. just a theory, but I like it
The last episodes of LOK season 1 are some of my favorite. Very exited.
Think my favourite detail of the flashbacks is when Yakone is blood bending the courtroom and knocks them out. Sokka is the last one other than Aang to get knocked out because he has experience with bloodbending because of what happened with Hama

Totally agree, I was just wondering if Bolin would confront Mako about not telling beforehand. Like I feel like as a brother you should at least check in with the person to see if they had a different approach to telling their girlfriend, but if they weren’t planning to soon, bolin would have to tell asami
I would tell them, but I’d also be mad at the person who initiated the kiss which was Korra. But they all got over it. Like asami, mako and bolin but that aside in the later episodes of book 1 so it’s all good

I feel like Aang’s avatar state coming out the second time Yukone blood bent him and struggling the first time is because he was close to being killed so the avatar state kicked in to protect him and save his life, similar to the iceberg!

I think that at some point, they had no non-benders on the council, and simply didn't notice that they were being subtly more and more unfair to non-benders over time because they no longer had that perspective at council meetings.
