Who is Melchizedek (Animation)

  • The last theory blew my mind!
Melchizedek is a man who served as King of Salem, later known as Jerusalem. His name means king of righteousness and his position is not only king but also priest of the God most high. His one physical appearance in scripture is very interesting and what is said about him later adds more depth to the mystery.

The passage of Melchizedek meeting Abram (at the time) in the field where he confronted the king of Sodom after he had captured Lot is pretty incredible...

    Bread.

You are ignorant ... He only gave that same Name Moses was told about!!! That The Great "I AM" before Abraham!!!
Moses and the Hebrews only knew Him as "I AM"!!! In the old Hebrew language.
This is what the Messiah actually testified about himself to the Jews!!!
      John 10:34-36
Jesus answered them, *“Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’* If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be set aside-
what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, *‘I am God’s Son’?*
      Psalm 82:6-7
      “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ But you will die like mere mortals;
you will fall like every other ruler.”
This was about him and Adam. Only these two qualifies ... both created in the sinless image of their Creator!!! But only Adam fell!!!

@@madikaldoktor9986 Forgive me if I speak in error. And help me clarify these verses.
Jesus says this to a group of Pharisees.
“ Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. “ - John 8:56
This prompted the Pharisees to challenge Jesus and ask him this question.
“You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” - John 8:57
The Pharisees seem to be clearly mocking Jesus about his age. They are saying that because he is so young, there is no way he knew Abraham or that Abraham had seen him like Jesus claimed.
“ Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. “ - John 8:56
So because they did not believe Jesus had seen Abraham because he was so young, Jesus responded by saying…
“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” - John 8:58
So it would seem to me, that Jesus is obviously implying that by some supernatural means, he predated the existence of Abraham. Not only does he predate Abraham, but he goes as far as to call himself “I AM”.
The Pharisees seem to understand what Jesus was implying, because they sought to stone him right after.
“ At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. “ - John 8:59
This is my reasoning for believing that Jesus Christ referred to himself as “I AM”.
      What are your thoughts?

The idea of Melchizedek as a theophany of Christ is very interesting. When Jesus tells the pharisees that He knows Abraham and He would have rejoiced to see this day, I've always kind of pictured that as Abraham and Jesus interacting in heaven. Melchizedek is a type of Jesus Christ because of his righteousness. Abraham also received his priesthood authority from the same place. He spent 40 years of his life in the House of Noah under the tutelage of Noah and Shem.

All serve as miracles, signs, and wonders, sufficient to announce the Gospel to the unbeliever, sufficient for the faith of God's elect.

    • @Azuma951

All of Humanity is Christ's church. Calvinism is a twisted man made doctrine created in the 1500's that is so far from the truth and has no actual scriptural or historical basis. None of the early church fathers were Calvinist, and there was certainly NO concept of hell in Christianity for the FIRST FIVE CENUTRIES of Christianity.
Regardless, even if there was a supposed "Hell"; God said that the punishment for Sin was DEATH which is lapsing into non being, not Eternal Conscious Torment. God isn't a liar. When did God change the penalty for sin from Death to eternal conscious torment? Because clearly he didn't. God doesn't Lie, so Death is clearly the punishment for Sin under the Old Covenant Law (Which was fulfilled by Jesus Christ's Crucifixion and Resurrection, thus leading to the New Covenant).
You should also take into account that all uses of the word "Hell" in the bible are Mistranslations of the Greek words Hades and Tartarus, and the Hebrew words Sheol and Gehenna (Which is an actual physical place in Jerusalem called The Valley of Hinnom.
Everybody is in Christ whether they know it or not. All are God's elect, with their own God given individual purposes.
I suggest you re-read your bible for yourself with this perspective and see how much more sense it makes. Here are a few places to start.

1 Peter 4:6 - For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
Galatians 3:28 - There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Luke 20:38 - He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.
1 Timothy 2:1-6 - I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
(This one specifically gets the point you should be paying attention to across and says that God wants ALL people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. Since God will not lie and will ALWAYS succeed in carrying out his will, then ALL OF HUMANITY WILL BE SAVED)
1 Corinthians 15:20-28 - But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
Romans 5:12-21 - Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned-
To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.

I'm just saying that I think using Type of Christ is somewhat vague and can miss the point. Moses like you said is a phenomenal foreshadowing of what Christ would be to humanity saving us from slavery to sin, he is not however Christ himself, he is like Jesus Christ. To say he is a type of Christ to me sounds like saying that he himself was actually Jesus appearing as a person in the Old Testament. We both know that they are two different people but to someone who isn't familiar with typology or scripture they might get confused, I know I would.

The catholic church fulfills the prophesies of the antichrist and the beast system.
From Rome being the city of many ethnicities that sits atop 7 hills, matching the beast of the sea. To the Dragon giving power over the saints to the beast for 1260 years with Justinian Code granting total authority over the church in 536 AD and began to be enforced in 538 when the siege of Rome was broken. The catholic church went on to rule over christians, torturing and murdering millions for 1260 years until 1798 when Napoleon arrested the Pope and ended catholic control. The bible says when one of the heads of the beast of the sea is wounded, another beast of land will rise up. Sea representing a multitude of peoples, the land represents a sparse and uninhabited land. In 1798 America was officially recognized as a nation by the world. The same year the first beast was wounded, and all nations look to America and say "who can conquer America? Who can make war with the beast?"
The popes also fulfilled the prophecy of the antichrist attempted to alter God's laws and appointed times. Which is undeniably what happened when the Pope changed the 10 commandments (laws) to make Sunday the sabbath (a time appointed by God).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints uses both the Aaronic (or Levitical priesthood/lesser priesthood) and the Melchizedek priesthood (or the higher priesthood). The original name of the Melchizedek priesthood, or the order of Melchizedek, is the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God (who is Jesus Christ). The name was changed out of reverence or respect to the Supreme Being in order to avoid to frequent repetition of His name. So before Melchizedek's time it was named after the Order of the Son of God, and after his time it was changed. Either way, it is through Jesus Christ that we can be saved, and Melchizedek knew that. "I have come in my fathers name and you recieved me not. Another will come in their own name, and him you will recieve."
And "if they say he is in the mountains, do not go, do not be decieved."
Mormon presents another Jesus that is similar but not the same as the New Testament teaches, his followers are known by the name Mormon more than Jesus, and his prophet came out of the mountains.

My opinion about hebrew 7:3 is that the mention of 'Without a family register' in that case does not mean that Melchisedek was not born or had no descendants, only that this register is not mentioned.
Rather, based on Ps.110:4 (quoted in vs.17), it is that Melchisedek did not become king and priest by succession, but because another had appointed him. This then required swearing an oath. David was from the tribe of Judah, and therefore no one from his progeny could ever become a priest, because the priests in Israel were from the tribe of Levi. But when God Himself pledges the priesthood to someone from David's posterity, by swearing an oath, they can become both king and priest - not the priesthood after the order of Aaron, but after the order of Melchisedek. In this way, Christ, who is of the lineage of David, can become a priest.
We must therefore think of Christ's priesthood as an official appointment. Melchisedek did not receive the dignity of king and priest by his father or by his mother. He was appointed to this.

So if you study Phoenician history Melchizedek was a Kana’ani (Canaanite) ruler of YryShalom (city of peace; yry meaning city) who worshipped El
Zedek or Zadok was likely a dynastic name as during the time of Joshua the king of Jerusalem (YryShalom) was Adonizedek (who’s name means Lord of Righteousness)who also worshipped El, but was overthrown by Joshua (Genesis 14:18-20) he is also mentioned in several other Canaanite historical records
Over time many would be named for them but would later lose the Zedek and be replaced by YHWH
Melchizedek becomes Malachiah and Adonizedek becomes Adonijah (Solomon’s older brother)
Melchizedek and Adonizedek are likely dynastic titles for the rulers of Canaanite Jerusalem.
The name Zedek continues to be a priestly name in Jerusalem, chances are they assimilated as they were also worshipers of El.
The word Sadducees is actually a Hellenization of Zedekis a order of noble kohanim descendants of Zodak through the line of Levi
(Which suggest the Israelite priesthood absorption of the local Canaanite priesthood since they had the same covenants and God and ancestral connection between Melchizedek and Abraham)
So being a priest (kohen) of the order of Melchizedek means a direct connection to the ancient rulers of Jerusalem

Furthermore, you’re correct in that it is not a “lost book” because the oldest standing Christian canon of the Ethiopian church holds this text.
But you, Steve who loves God, would have me take Jude as a fool; a proposition I can only imagine you to make believing you are filled with a Holier Spirit than Jude?

in my opinion, when it says "without father or mother" simply means that if you were a Levite, you were a Levite because you were born from Levite parents. This "person" was a high priest, but not a Levite - not because he had Levite parents. V5 supports this when it refers to the "sons of Levi".

Yes, an appointed priesthood. And, a higher one.
Birthed, sort of divinely, from a woman named Sothonim, who "gave birth" after she had just died. A woman who was evidently made with child, similar to Mary with Jesus. She was wife to Noah's brother, Nir. Sothonim was regarded as infertile and having not been with her husband since he was appointed a priest about a year earlier. The pregnancy was unnerving to her husband.
She died during heated and emotional arguing, but not from violence. Probably a stroke or heart attack. When Nir and Noah went to bury her, they left the body briefly, when they returned a child was at the grave. A very special child.
People forget Noah came out special, too. According to the Bible, he came out White, like the angels... His father freaked out and ran to his father, Methuselah... And was like, "Should I kill her?" He thought his wife had coitus with an angel and Noah was the result. Not unheard of, at that time.
So, there were some wild things going on just before the great flood, eh?

      Doctrine & Covenants section 107 verses 1-6:
1 There are, in the church, two priesthoods, namely, the Melchizedek and Aaronic, including the Levitical Priesthood.
2 Why the first is called the Melchizedek Priesthood is because Melchizedek was such a great high priest.
3 Before his day it was called the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God.
4 But out of respect or reverence to the name of the Supreme Being, to avoid the too frequent repetition of his name, they, the church, in ancient days, called that priesthood after Melchizedek, or the Melchizedek Priesthood.
5 All other authorities or offices in the church are appendages to this priesthood.
6 But there are two divisions or grand heads-one is the Melchizedek Priesthood, and the other is the Aaronic or Levitical Priesthood.
      D&C 115:4

@@ianallen9217 All of Humanity is Christ's church. Don't make the arrogant claim that your church is the ONLY actual church. Everybody is in Christ whether they know it or not.
I suggest you re read your bible for yourself, starting with these.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for ALL people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for ALL people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

      @@jamesbaggaley18able two points,
      1) The scripture clearly states that Melchizedek is “ the priest of the most high God” combine that with apostle Pauls statement that Christ is “High priest after the order of Melchizedek “ combined with the fact that Melchizedek brought bread and wine representing a type of communion or the body and blood of Christ. Combined with the fact that Melchizedek is stated as being without beginning of days or ending of days, we can speculate that Melchizedek was Christ the son of God.
      2) Abraham offered and gave a 10th of the spoils to Melchizedek. Tithing a form of reverence to a spiritual authority dating back to Cane and Able and forward to the Levite priesthood. I don’t think Melchizedek was representing God himself but rather Christ .

@@theespjames4114 Your first point is true. But it says the word "Order" and organization or brotherhood. As such we infer that an order organization has more than one person. The verse doesn't say that Christ hasn't invited others to be part of that order. Moses' priesthood was greater than that of Aaron. I would suggest that he is a member of this order. A superior priesthood would also explain why he was invited into God present while the High Levitical priest was only allowed into the Holy of Holies on the day of atonement to spread blood over teh alter. So the statement isn't exclusionary. For your second point you are right tithing is an ancient practice. As such, Abraham would pay tithing which would be put in the care of a higher ranked priest such as in the levitical order. They payment of tithing doesn't suggest that this is Christ incarnate. In fact the bible is pretty clear that Christ was to come in the Meridian of time not that he came many times. Otherwise why would all these sacrifices prefigure someone that had already come?

      You’re right.
The Melchizedek priesthood is an order. Like Christ and Christianity it predates Judaism and the Levite priesthood which was only a similitude of the Melchizedek priesthood.
Everyone called by God through the door that is Christ is cloaked in Christ Righteousness because we have lost our own righteousness through sin.
Christ Cloak of Righteousness is actually a priest garment that sanctifies us to go into the Holy of Holy and stand before God and go through the process of Circumcision of the heart and qualify for the Abrahamic covenant that makes us priest in this same order.
In the wilderness at the foot of Mt Sinai there were a small group of people ( the remnant) that didn’t reject God and Christ for a Golden Calf.
Moses was one of them but Aaron was not!
Moses completed his circumcision of the heart and became a priest in the Order of Christ, Aaron did not and became a high priest in the (Similitude) levite priesthood.
Moses pleaded with the children of Israel to circumcise their hearts to no avail. This is just a snippet .

Do not believe in the Talmud if you have no relation to Post-Second Temple Judaism. The Talmudic stories make fun of Jesus’ birth from a virgin, fervently contest his claim to be the Messiah and Son of God, and maintain that he was rightfully executed as a blasphemer and idolater. They subvert the Christian idea of Jesus’ resurrection and insist he got the punishment he deserved in hell - and that a similar fate awaits his followers. In Jewish History, Jewish Religion Shahak brings numerous texts and legal rulings to demonstrate Jewish antipathy to non-Jews. He mentions a passage from the Talmud that says that Jesus will be punished in hell by being immersed in boiling excrement. He relates that Jewish tradition teaches pious Jews to burn copies of the New Testament and curse the mothers of the dead when passing non-Jewish cemeteries. Shahak highlights the famous passage from Leviticus commanding Jews to "love thy neighbor as thyself" and mentions that, according to rabbinic interpretation, "thy neighbor" refers only to Jews.

**************MELCHISEDEC (true and correct spelling) EXPLAINED***************
To explain this one has to understand TRUTH prior to our accepted teachings. While the Bible is a valid book there is much that is not detailed fully about events, places, people as it should - thanks to the redactors working for the Roman Catholic Churches who wanted to insert themselves and made Christianity a religion rather than what it had a great opportunity to be which was a (the) way of life....as it was intended. Don't worry....the two witnesses that will appear soon will explain it all - they will explain the TRUE GOSPEL.
Now, Melchisedec is a word/title in which so much is included in it that it is hard to tell all that the word intended to convey. However, Melchisedec was from the class of Immortals (never to die). This is why they speak (read of) him the way that it is. How is it he knew of THE FATHER before Abraham - in which he blessed him? How is it he disappeared then resurfaces 1000 years later? Because he was the shiny one, kinda' like Jesus that is why. Jesus was the one begotten son, but so was Melchisedec, at least at one point (huh?). They are however two DIFFERENT beings - at least in our human earth understanding of 'different'. When the two witnesses (Moses/Elijah or Enoch) come everything will be explained. But I will say that it is an AWESOME story/progression/occurrence - whatever you want to call it. It's beautiful! By the way 'priest' is a typo/mislabeled translation. Which is why he was also known as a king - these two titles are totally different from one another.
See you in the Tribulation. Remember this comment to compare validity and truth for later. Bless THE FATHER.
