- We're modding our Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio again! This time we're throwing on a set of high flow downpipes, an x-pipe exhaust, and removing the ECUs, shipping them off to IdealRace for their Stage 2 ECU tune, and then reinstalling them to unleash over 600hp from the 2.9L Ferrari-derived V6.

For anyone replacing the downpipes, you don't have to unclip the o2 sensors on the downpipes - there's enough slack to spin them out and spin them back in without any damage.
You guys are seriously my car people. You literally have all of the cars I would get if I had an unlimited budget. Keep up the great work boys! Thanks for the GR Supra model!

Take note everyone that is tuning a vehicle. If you buy a duplicate BCM/ECU you can keep your stock computer stock without any flash files messing up its count memory. Use the duplicate BCM for all your flashes. It’ll save your bacon too if you need a service.

It already threw up 2 false check engine lights, the weather in nyc has been below 35 since i got it, and the car is on summer tires but i love it

Thing is those 2 baby down pipes out flow the Supra dp (that whole cross sectional area thing) . Alfa didn’t make it easy for you, that was some amount of work. Payoff is worth it tho, I always love the smell of a new exhaust system burning in 😎
Actually after doing the math (and using 2.25” for the Alfa pipe and 4” for the Supra), the Supra down pipe does seem to have better flow than both Alfa pipes combined. I guess the little bit of extra quiet with the smaller pipes is worth the power loss to be able to better hear the classical piano music while eating milanos 👍
Both are great for sure! In the end, the Alfa having cats will be it's main restriction. Still fast as all hell though! Thanks for watching!
I am actually a fan of Alfa, so i was glad to see a fellow tuner taking a wrench to quadrifoglio and adding some go fast parts. Can we call it an M5 killer yet?

I absolutely love these and would love one with similar mods on E85 with upgraded turbos, SS brake lines, pads, fluid, stock size wheels just in a different style. Stock and regularly maintained the reliability or lack thereof scares me. I can't imagine taking one with the mods I mentioned it and really turning the wick up thay it would be any better. I mean if this one made 600hp I don't see 750 maybe even 800hp being an issue.

Buy one USED! I learned the hard way about buying new. I bought a 2018 QV for $75,000 and had to Sell it a year later due to unforeseen financial obligations. The car had seriously depreciated, but the engine was barely broken in and some lucky guy bought it from me for $55,000. That was the best I could do! So I took the hit and babied the car, and he got a great deal and a gray car and an engine just broken in!

Um why are you comparing a inline 6 down pipe to essentially a 3 cylinder down pipe? You can double the pipes and compare them to the single AW90 down pipe and it’s similar if not bigger.
Which cats and xpipe did you go with?
I'm have centerline xpipe on mine, sprint filter, Forza, and decided to go with fabspeed hfc due to their proximity. Once my warranty is up, I'll get their tune too.

Isn't the reason why the Supra downpipe is larger because its an I6, and so there is only one, whereas the Alfa is a V6 with two downpipes?

Hey thanks for the video I like the sound of the Alfa qv just want a bit more noise. Will this catted down pipe void my warranty I heard that mostly with cat less Down pipes because they usually require a Ecu tune.
The downpipe should not void your warranty, but the tune definitely can. With catted downpipes and O2 sensor spacers, you should be able to run them without a check engine light. But you won't really make much more horsepower without a tune.

Ahh man! Such is the case with a few people I know as well. I think we got lucky with this car but it was in and out of the dealership the first year a lot too. Italian cars will never change!

i have a QV its fast enough as it is, a little more power aint gonna hurt but at around an extra 100bhp will it not damage pistons con rods and so on, how do you know you not going to screw up the engine, even the gearbox?.......need to see a proper test, 0-60 and top end speed......Im tempted really tempted.

Thanks for this great detailed install video! I'm hoping to add a Giulia QV to the fleet in the near future, but living in Cali, I've gotta weigh the variables on downpipes for passing smog checks in the future. Not to mention swapping out the ECU's in case of required dealer service, now that I see how much you have to remove just to get to those firewall-mounted puppies. Hmmm...Cheers!
Thanks for watching! These Downpipes are Catted, but I'm not sure if they're smog legal. And yeah the ECUs are definitely a pain, I'm hoping for a more straightforward flash process to come out sometime in the future.

@@megatron6245 my friend had a stock alfa quadrifolgio and it’s always getting check engine lights. Motor trend and car and driver also got problems with their quadrifolgios. When u start modding them the reliability gets even worse
