    Ty for this vid! I had the same problem on my passenger side mirror for weeks, and it was getting worse. Finally decided to check today before coming back from a business meeting (120km away). The mirror was literally only still attached by a small strip of the tape.. Bet it would have fell off on the way home! Now off to buy that tape.. Lol

    Thanks for tips, my right mirror fell off the highway yesterday and did some damage to the paint and side windows. This is a big problem with the Audi vehicles, now i have to buy a new one!!
    Imagine what it would be like if, say, a window was opened, very dangerously!!

    Hello Bogdan,
    Nice and helpful video tutorial. The same problem on the same side with my mirror. Can you tell me exactly what kind of 3M scotch tape did you used?
    Nearly the end of the video did you mentioned that mirror heating is operating automatically depends on outer degrees? I own a 2011 edition a4 b8 avant 2.0 Tdi and I have just realised that you mentioned that. Can you confirm this? Is this function available from MMI? I would appreciate your answer. THX, Emil

      1.Hi, I tried to find the exact type of tape that I used and it seams to be more difficult than expected. By the looks of it 3M uses the Scoth Trademark for some of there products and also by the looks of it they have changed recently there branding. So I would say go to a big DIY shop and see what they have on stock. In the past I have used "Gorilla Heavy Duty Mounting Tape Crystal Clear" or Bison. Almost all brands have the transparent gel like 1mm tapes. (you don't want something to thick and also you don't want something to thin). Don't worry to much on having the perfect tape, because you are applying on a big surface, any tape will hold. 2.The heating works automatically. I did not find any setting to turn it off. I have noticed that when you start the car the mirrors will get really hot and after that they will be warmish. Hope that it helps

      @@BestCarMods I have a 2011 Audi A4 and i recently realized that the if the dial switch for heated mirrors is turned to the left or right (not to the middle towards the heating ) the heater is turned off.i always kept the dial turned to the heater and that actually keeps your heater on the entire time. That is most likely what causes the mirror to detach over time. I realized this when I touched the mirror by accident when I noticed it was vibrating while driving, it was really hot. I turned the dial to the left and within 30 seconds it had cooled significantly. Most people don't know, but you don't need to have the dial pointed towards the heating symbol.

      @@casarezc if i remember correctly in all the test that i have done, it does not matter what the position of the switch is. the heaters will always start. Try to put the switch to one side and when you start the car in the morning check and let me know if they get hot. I remember that they got. I don't have an Audi any more and i can't check.

    So the reason this is happening is because the factory adhesive is not good?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say that the main cause is that the mirror gets heated to many times. the factory adhesive does what it can do.

    My rear view mirror vibrates when accelerating... Does anyone else have this issue and a possible solution?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it the mirror or the plastics that vibrate. Try to identify if the hole assembly vibrates, maybe it is not clipped correctly to the screen. On my car you removed a plastic cover and after that twisted the mirror assembly to clip or unclip. If you had a screen replacement maybe that is when something when wrong.

    • @ajbadenhorst
      @ajbadenhorst 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BestCarMods So when I got the car about a year ago, can confirm window was replaced, and thinking about it I agree with you it's probably where things went wrong.
      Had issue where automatic wiping would randomly come on when going over bumps since the plate that is glude to the window was loose. I got that fixed, automatic wipers worked, but saw the vibration.
      Something to note, the mirror is very very stiff to turn from direction, not sure if this is age related with the ball getting old? Tried to lube it up a bit and seems to have helped.
      Vibration normally starts when going though a certain rev range, can stop it by holding onto the outer plastic of the mirror.
