Pretty good guide. One peice of advice on the Barroth. Make sure you have a few cleansers. This will allow you to get the dirt ball off of you quickly. This has helped me from getting charged. Keep up the good work my friend!
I think Barroth is a good boss to work on your evasion skill for newer players. If you don't get good at dodging, then he punishes you hard. If you simply stay away, then it's difficult to find an opening for an attack. Best advice I can give is to practice the evasion.
Tip: When you are fighting barroth if you are using a great sword bring lots of whetstone. Because when he rolls around in the mud he collects mud on his body which harders and will drop the durability of your sword fast. When you are online try to have 1 person carry a hammer as it is great to smash off the rock to let the sword players take out the weaker parts. This is in my opinion it seems to work the best and even I still have trouble with him because he is a tough so don't get discouraged
Two tips that the guide doesn't mention: 1.The lantern is the weakest point on the Gobul. Its face takes a large amount of damage as well. 2.AVOID THE FACE!! Unless Gobul is stunned, paralyzed,or caught in a trap, avoid standing in front of him like the black plague itself,I would estimate that a full 70% of his attacks are in a straight line.
Combining Nutrients with Honey makes it a Mega Nutrients, giving you even more health, ditto the Potions. Bring plenty of Mega Potions. Also, wear something like Rhenoplos armor when going after Barroth, the mudballs will hurt a little when they hit but they will not stick to it. A Cleanser will clean mud off if you don't have anti-mud armor, as will shaking the Wii remote (I think) or rotating the analog stick on your controller, which is what I use. I hated the Barroth quest, I just got to the Gobul one. Good to know that Barroth is one of the tougher monsters. I am currently using a Switch Axe, raw power, because the hammer won't cut off his tail, which was one of the subquests. Yes, Cha-Cha is merely a decoy.
@bigtimbolim something i forgot: use ancient potion. i never use nutrients. fish are only easy if they are on land. don't underestimate them. you can use a flying-dodge to dodge all roars and attacks. instead of going for Gobul's tail, just use a whetstone to get back to green sharpness. when Gobul runs, wait until it has had time to hide, then swim up to it to gather it's whiskers. One mistake i found in both monster hunts is that you don't use see the most vulnerable moments. nt.
You forgot Mega Dash juice, very good at keeping a stable stamina bar without draining too heavily and not open to attack like the Barroth (especially to people who use heavy weapons, great swords, lances etc.)
+GameZone dude also i realized if you hit the barroth's tail right before he gets in the ground he'll come back up through the ground which doesn't allow him to escape
thing is, ive noticed that the barroth has a load of hard rocks covering its body. when it rolls in the mud it means its trying to repair its armor. If the rocks are gone he is more vunerable. But he still refuses to die.
i may have missed a video but he doesn't seem to have explained elemental weakness. the baroth is weak to water in areas covered mud and fire in areas not muddy.gobuls are weak against fire and electricity/lightning. also flash grenades can cause the gobul to come out of the sand may be vulnerable. also if possible try to break it's light bulb.
@Ps3Superior It's quite easy actually. You take a potion and combine kit with some honey. Keep it on your speed combos list as well, just for easy access. What I'd like to know is how to make cleansers.
@HaloSlaughterer almost right but it is a roll to remake his mud armour on his legs tails and his arms with mud armour it is weak to water and without it is weak to fire but he wont switch to fire weakness if he has armour and rolls in the mud
First I must say that I love this guide sires and wish I had this help a few weeks ago when I was just getting into the game (just looking for help for my friends right now). While I don't want to step on your toes for other newbies let me correct some things on Barroth. The Mud he has on him acts like a shield (it is also this mud that he throws on you). Most Advance Hunters know that he is alot easier to kill with no mud so this is why he loves to put it on.
Barroth: Use hammer. Mostly the full charge, swing, and bring that big boy down. Done it with a bone bludgeon. Keep your distance when he's in rage mode. Do not chase after the barroth with your hammer unless you can tell it's not going to use the spinning. If you manage to pitfall him, pound the mud off his back after knocking it out and breaking it's head. Without mud, the barroth is super slow and as long as you maintain a brisk walking speed, you can avoid his charging.
hey dude you know the gobul question you know you fished it out of the water at the start what bait do you use and can we do it every time he goes into the water? can someone tell me please
I know this is old but here are a few tips the guide didn't go over: 1: when you get hit by the barroths mud or gobul's flash, shake the Wii remote. 2: If you use nutrients, use them at camp!Drink them then sleep in the bed 3:bring bombs!
Try the red coral stones collection quest. They are quite rare, so it may take a few tries, but you'll get them eventually. I believe the hunting fleet can find them at higher level treasure areas as well, but I'm not sure.
@blackjoker12 i got it with a bone axe or may be it was commanders dagger but my are more was lvl 3 rhenopolis greaves, boots, and shirt with ludroth helmet
im trying to upgrade my bone armor but i dont have adv armor spheres. how do i get some. are there easy quests that i can do that gives you them in the rewards besides the alluring dress?
whats harder to beat, agnaktor or barroth? when barroth spin's to win you roll under him between his legs so you can stay near and dodge the tail, the charge go to the right so you don't have to worry about the tail and when it's in rage mode (steam coming out of it's bone-y head) i would just kite it until it's calmed down for 0 damage since you can get combo-ed Loads from his charge spam. Gobul is the hardest boss for me atm.
Actually, flash grenades don't affect the Gobul at all, sonic bombs do. They work especially well in the case that you are implying, to cause the gobul to come out of hiding.
@blackjoker12 i got it with a bone axe or may be it was commanders dagger but my are more was lvl 3 rhenopolis greaves, boots, and shirt with ludroth helmet with 2:30 minutes to spare
I believe you can avoid Light flashes by running and "rolling". This will make your char do a huge jump and land on his belly. The problem is, you need to have your weapon on your back... Anyway, Barroth seems to be pretty easy, but it looks like I need to get a good weapon, because my current one, can't kill him in 50 min. I don't even allow him to sleep for 10 sec. I guess I better use bombs for now?
BARROTH. Elemental damage is ineffective except for water on parts with mud and fire on parts without mud. You can knock the mud off of other people, do it. The tail swings of all monsters are relatively easy to roll through, try it if you've got the balls. When he's raging he'll snort steam out of his head. He'll also snort steam out of the ground as he moves to a different area, watch for it and you can tell where he's going. Why wasn't any of that mentioned?
I agree on how difficult the barroth is although I killed it first try but what kwing here call's egg sacks is actually mud balls. And a tip to hammer user's is to constantly get under him and use the fully chared attack on his legs and paws
The reason he rolls in the mud is because those things you called eggs aren't eggs, just mud. After he does that attack for a while he runs out of mud, or if you could break it off, so the Barroth will have to go and replenish his supply of it.
@TheYawnYawn I understand your point of view, but not only would it be a LOT easier to understand what people say if they pronounce it correctly, but another thing. This guy didn't pronounce it correctly, no matter how you look at it. There's no "V" in Rathian.
3:31 It's mud, dude. 4:17 It's to trap you, dude! I know this video is from 13 years ago, but I watched this video back then and I should have commented then. Sorry to bother you. Hope you're doing well. EDIT: Also, Cha-cha is his name, not his race. He's not "The Cha-cha" Just "Cha-cha" He's a Shakalaka.
I equipped myself with the spiral lance and only had to use about 3 or 4 mega potions. He was easy! Beat him first try. Just be patient and defend as much as you can. You won't take any damage.
my tipp 4 barroth would be just standing under the body and attack him at the belly it'll be a good place 4 the tail attack and wehen he charges just roll auta there ^^ probably the best weapon for barroth is the switchaxe
I'm having trouble with this guy. i use the great sword and after a while he starts to deflect every attack i hit him with. i hit his legs and arms and it hardly works
@kingtaro or you can do like i done if theres a quest you cannot beat go to the online mode play tht for a lil bit get better gear and then pwn him i did this and killed him solo in like 15 min with a ls
when you go online does he load till 20 % or something because if he does that than your wii does not refuse mht refuse sometime you must play offline for a hour or something and than you can go online again
Lol he said not to go near him or he'll hit you, so im just gonna let him regain all his health and allow the battle last until my potions run out. Thanks for the tip.
I killed him with the switch axe. I then tried the lance and It worked so much better. It is hard to master but using the block You can withstand a helluva lot of attacks as long as you watch your stamina guage. you can land more hits with the lance because you spend less time rolling around trying to avoid his attacks.
@kingkibakore I actually defeated him the day I posted that comment. =] After upgrading my SA to Bone Axe+. Baroth is actually very easy. 10-15 min with my Hammer. Around 18 min in Arena.
I just tried Baroth for the first time and got owned :( My weapon cant hit him, only a few times.. And i've alredy upgraded it I spend all my potions and i lost the quest :D Its hard when you dont know his movements too
i disagree. I find gobul take ages and ages 2 take down probs coz they always roll around with their spikes out while with barroth u just avoid it as much as possible wen its chargin and then attack it wen it stands still or is just walking
I don't know what Capcom was thinking when they decided to do the logic for Barroth, but they should have reconsidered. Barroth would be a lot easier to fight if the space they gave you fight on was a bit bigger. He's easier to kill in area 4. Easier in bomb in area 3 and just a pain to fight in 2. Seriously just hate this monster.
@miaufun i have defeated the barroth loads of times its just from the diablos to the great jaggi i think the barroth is the most annoying i ment onliune im on rank 3 quests im hr 20 now
Pretty good guide. One peice of advice on the Barroth. Make sure you have a few cleansers. This will allow you to get the dirt ball off of you quickly. This has helped me from getting charged.
Keep up the good work my friend!
if a monster is asleep, you attack power triples if its sleeping and you can also carve the gobuls wiskers when its asleep
I think Barroth is a good boss to work on your evasion skill for newer players. If you don't get good at dodging, then he punishes you hard. If you simply stay away, then it's difficult to find an opening for an attack.

Key to defeating Barroth: Lots of Nutrients and Cha Cha.
Dodging Gobul's lantern: GET OUT OF RANGE.
Wait till he sees Jho.
Barroth's actually one of my favourite bosses. A refreshing dosage of non-bullshit after the annoyance of Qurupeco
i hated the qurupeco as telegraphed and slow its attacks were its all annoying

first!!!
love ur guide rly helps me defeat the bosses
like the online stuff to but doing on your own the first time rlly gets my blood pumping=)
I don't work for GZ anymore. I have my own Channel. I will be doing stuff with MH3U. Been working on stuff since Friday of this week.
thing is, ive noticed that the barroth has a load of hard rocks covering its body. when it rolls in the mud it means its trying to repair its armor. If the rocks are gone he is more vunerable. But he still refuses to die.
@Spootchies i think he means his head looks like the plates on a stegasauras' (spell check?) back.
4:27 Its to restore his attack mud when he runs out of it.
i may have missed a video but he doesn't seem to have explained elemental weakness. the baroth is weak to water in areas covered mud and fire in areas not muddy.gobuls are weak against fire and electricity/lightning. also flash grenades can cause the gobul to come out of the sand may be vulnerable. also if possible try to break it's light bulb.

The egg sacs are mud and he rolls in it to get more mud for armor and throw it on you
@HaloSlaughterer
almost right but it is a roll to remake his mud armour on his legs tails and his arms
with mud armour it is weak to water
and without it is weak to fire
but he wont switch to fire weakness if he has armour and rolls in the mud
I had 7 seconds left when I first killed the barroth
Syxx66 dude I bet your heart was beating hella fast
during the small decor guide every skill needs at least 10 more more points to get, while some take 15 or 20 points
@Rajalae i believe it was a cleanser
First I must say that I love this guide sires and wish I had this help a few weeks ago when I was just getting into the game (just looking for help for my friends right now). @Thunderain100 Ok im Confused so its pronouunced RATH-IAN? or RUV-IATHAN?
Hi Luke and Game Zone. Can you carry on making these awesome videos ? Can you do a video of the Jhen Moran? Please!
also nice item is the one that removes the mud attack, i've forgot the name but its pretty handy
@ShadowRaven790 no he's just a common roadblock, if you have done alatreon your talk will be different....
@Ratchethacker2 but it is most likely more fun to play through again online with friends right?
Barroth: Use hammer. Mostly the full charge, swing, and bring that big boy down. Done it with a bone bludgeon. Keep your distance when he's in rage mode. Without mud, the barroth is super slow and as long as you maintain a brisk walking speed, you can avoid his charging.
Also, I'm curious on how one cuts off body-parts. I've repeated this quest several times and never seen the tail come off.
You can use any weapon except the hammer and to do it with a bowgun you need slice shot.
hey dude you know the gobul question you know you fished it out of the water at the start what bait do you use and can we do it every time he goes into the water? can someone tell me please
I know this is old but here are a few tips the guide didn't go over:

2: If you use nutrients, use them at camp!Drink them then sleep in the bed
3:bring bombs!
Egg sacks wtf those are rocks and the mud is hid armour
Huh
that guy is an idiot
I think the Barroth is way easier then Gobul.....
Try the red coral stones collection quest. They are quite rare, so it may take a few tries, but you'll get them eventually. I believe the hunting fleet can find them at higher level treasure areas as well, but I'm not sure.
Then i have one question for you. How do you do it if you haven't already done the hunter killer quest before Chacha goes missing?
Thanks, Luke! At least this will help me with those hard monsters, easily.

@sethrantz High rank or not, it wont matter in offline mode, its all about getting good armor
Don't forget to sneak up on Gobul when he is sleeping in the water and carve his whiskers.
When he limps away that's when I think the battle is over...if your having trouble or running out of time just capture him.
You don't NEED to use Nutrients, just eat before starting the quest to get Health Up and Stamina Up
so how do ya break the barroth's head? i was wondering how to do it so i could get some materials for barroth armor...
I'm stuck on the gobul what a good weapon suggestion? In mhfu I usually use long swords but since you can't get them until after the gobul I'm stuck
@sneeuwpopjes .Its called clenser.
@ShadowRaven790 indeed, even harder then the uragaan
BARROTH. Elemental damage is ineffective except for water on parts with mud and fire on parts without mud. You can knock the mud off of other people, do it. oh and another tip: use water elemantal weapons like royal claw, and give cha cha also water elemantal attacks. Believe me, it really helps ;)

@wiiveteran21 The first pronounciation in your comment is better than the second one, simply because there's no "V" in Rathian.
3:31 It's mud, dude.
4:17 It's to trap you, dude!
I know this video is from 13 years ago, but I watched this video back then and I should have commented then. Sorry to bother you. Hope you're doing well.
EDIT: Also, Cha-cha is his name, not his race. He's not "The Cha-cha" Just "Cha-cha" He's a Shakalaka.
finnaly someone that says the barroth is the toughest boss u got that right
I equipped myself with the spiral lance and only had to use about 3 or 4 mega potions. He was easy! Beat him first try. Just be patient and defend as much as you can. You won't take any damage.
baroth roles over to change his weekness normaly its fire but wene he rolls in the mud it becoms ice
my tipp 4 barroth would be just standing under the body and attack him at the belly
it'll be a good place 4 the tail attack and wehen he charges just roll auta there ^^
probably the best weapon for barroth is the switchaxe
thank you very much and your voice isn't as annoying as I thought it'd be lol
Then mud does not clump on you if you wear Rhenpholos armor
@MrSMC787 I first saw it challenging but then i found its pretty easy to kill with the bowgun
i know this is completely unrelated to the quest but ware do u get jumbo pearls
@Zhekeido godbugs and blue mushrooms
yes yes he is and the lol is evrybody thats playing offline says he is diffucult but thay never faced + monsters online
I'm having trouble with this guy. i use the great sword and after a while he starts to deflect every attack i hit him with. i hit his legs and arms and it hardly works
@MrMarkerGamer what about jhen mohran
@kingtaro or you can do like i done if theres a quest you cannot beat go to the online mode play tht for a lil bit get better gear and then pwn him i did this and killed him solo in like 15 min with a ls
plus use a weapon with water effect against barroth that shakes th emud of easier
when you go online does he load till 20 % or something because if he does that than your wii does not refuse mht refuse sometime you must play offline for a hour or something and than you can go online again
Lol he said not to go near him or he'll hit you, so im just gonna let him regain all his health and allow the battle last until my potions run out. Thanks for the tip.
should i buy this game or is it too old how you say? is the gameplay good?
use the Spiral Lance for the barroth. it makes him WAY easier.
3:35, those aren't egg sacks, they're clumps of mud.
I killed him with the switch axe. I then tried the lance and It worked so much better. It is hard to master but using the block You can withstand a helluva lot of attacks as long as you watch your stamina guage. you can land more hits with the lance because you spend less time rolling around trying to avoid his attacks.
Ludroth, and a plume hammer, or what ever the qurupeco hammer's name is.
That Barroth shoulda been the posterchild for the game cover, he's waaaaaaaay harder then a Lagiacrus
Ummmm.... How does barroth's head looks like a stegosaurus head?
@kingkibakore
I actually defeated him the day I posted that comment. =]
After upgrading my SA to Bone Axe+.
Baroth is actually very easy.
10-15 min with my Hammer.
Around 18 min in Arena.
I fink he rolls In the mud to cover him self with mud to do attack number 3 (the mud one ovs)
Also,Raviathan? Whatever you say,Scooby.
@ThePimpinazn
1) at his rank meat and grains does not give 140 HP and 150 Stam.
2) lol
I just tried Baroth for the first time and got owned :(
My weapon cant hit him, only a few times.. And i've alredy upgraded it
I spend all my potions and i lost the quest :D
Its hard when you dont know his movements too
@bigtimbolim so what? he doesnt use guides, so he needs to find it out by his own, i do agree with you that he didnt check his info
throw a paintball, dang it. You mark it and get it to pop out. Two birds, one paintball.
i disagree. I find gobul take ages and ages 2 take down probs coz they always roll around with their spikes out while with barroth u just avoid it as much as possible wen its chargin and then attack it wen it stands still or is just walking
he did mention elemental....
I don't know what Capcom was thinking when they decided to do the logic for Barroth, but they should have reconsidered. When he is in Rage Mode his charges will hit for 50% easy if you aren't armored correctly and if you get knocked into a corner consider yourself dead. Barroth would be a lot easier to fight if the space they gave you fight on was a bit bigger. He's easier to kill in area 4. Easier in bomb in area 3 and just a pain to fight in 2. Seriously just hate this monster.
6:24 DO A BARREL ROLL!!!! And FYI, this sounds like a survival book to warn you of ferocious animals... I like that :)
i like the song at the begining
the barroth heals while hes sleeping kwing
THE SAND JUGGERNAUT, THE BUHRAWTH
congrats on the skypiercer
@miaufun i have defeated the barroth loads of times its just from the diablos to the great jaggi i think the barroth is the most annoying i ment onliune im on rank 3 quests im hr 20 now
