I have never appreciated down time more than I am now as I’ve recently started working again after 17 years home with my kids. I love my job, but I forgot how mentally taxing it can be to be in an office environment! I am enjoying the in person interaction, though. I just have to find my new balance. ❤

All those philosophical questions you ask us and yourself are not weird at all. They represents the kind of discussion I enjoy having. ❤❤❤

I would keep that gorgeous jumper just the way it is Kat, and file away with your notes about how that fabric is so drapey for some time in the future. I think the jumper looks absolutely fantastic on you right now!!

Thanks Kat for the chat. I totally agree with you as I am highly sensitive. Festivals can be overwhelming, my own snacks always help. I have notifications off at certain times. I helps keep me grounded. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

as always I am instantly calmed and educated after watching your episodes. I love that you talk about the longevity, wearability, origin and purpose of a particular fiber. Sometimes after watching a knitting podcast I feel like I'm behind, not enough, and yarn shamed. Thank you for the virtual meds!!

Very much appreciate hearing of your thoughtful awareness of digital participation I just last week retired (!!) after 31 years in the behavioral health and mental illness field, and I'm on our local school board. We've seen a pronounced increase in difficult behavioral issues and distress among both populations in recent years. We keep hearing it blamed on Covid and isolation, but I believe wholeheartedly we're seeing the effects of unrestrained digital use and social media involvement.

I feel your words about being very open but also having strong opinions and knowing what I do not want/like. Kinda like having the superpower of being able to match people but also having secret boundaries that prevent you from lapsing into people pleasing or being the „I dont care“ 😊

It was so nice hanging out. If you do a virtual knitting circle I'd definitely join. Sometimes my days are soooo busy from work it's tough to switch gears and pull out a project. I am hesitant to knit when it's dark out or after a certain hour. My brain is not at it's best. However, a new video/knitting circle from you (no pressure) may be just the thing. I liked what you said about needing quiet time and taking a step back and processing. This is good self care. A way to be intentional and savor what you've done, seen, and think. I went to a fiber festival near my city (East Coast/USA) early this spring and had a good time with my adult kids and hubby. We got some great yarn and now I have three projects to work on. I think the sensory input from these events is huge. Wishing you a peaceful day happy crafting.

Also agree on the fitted jumper, looks amazing. Notifications off for me too here, alltough I am not so active of social media anyway, I am trying to engage more. Also learning to recognize my own energy, I get the energy matching you talk about, and it can be exhausting/overwhelming, even if it’s great fun…

Love to reflect alone and together with others about how we live and what we could do different tomorrow. Thanks for input and a nice time 😊

Throughly enjoyed listening to you. So much to think about and reflect on. Quiet alone time is vital for our sanity in a world which seems to have gone crazy. Although thinking about it. The world has always had a crazy side to it. We are just so much more aware of what is happening out there.
Hence Digital Minimalism will probably be my next purchase. Thanks for the info. ❤

Lovely to see and spend time with you again. I love a yarn festival but I find they can be overwhelming - I need to lie down in a darkened room afterwards. X

nice podcast. appreciate your insights. knit night sounds wonderful. thanks for sharing about eayf and their spacing and sit down and quiet places. It would have been important to me as well if I had been there.

Have you ever done a magic loop for socks? You knit both socks at once on the same circular needle! It takes so much less time and is super fun…. Challenging to start but once you get there it is fast!

Your jumper is fabulous and looks stunning on you. If you can just buy more in a different colour to make your oversized sweater. 😊

Hey kat I love that Alex went to a yarn festival with you. No chance of my partner coming. He doesnt understand the concept of stash or spending time going to yarn festivals 😊.

What a wonderful waffly podcast. Lots to take away and ponder from your chat. I’m happy to go with the flow most times but every now and then I say no because life’s to short to do stuff if you know it’s not for you. ❤❤❤

❤ my time is precious.....and well spent waffling with you!
I am becoming a horder of time well spent and very discerning of where I put my energy, but, that took 60 years of living life to get to a place that let go of all the guilt, doubting, and self judgments directing my energy of past! That said, I have followed the path being open to and loving the new and novel (to me) and discovering along the way. At this moment in time I am surrounded by all the things I love.....animals, nature, lots of fiber and crafting supplies and.....time to savour it all🌷☀️🤸‍♀️. I got here by following the things that make me happy. ( my husband is quick to say though.... we sure didn't follow the money😂!)😊

I personally loved your silk sweater and would leave it alone, but when you have that inkling in the back of your head that’s often the way to go. I really appreciated the photography you and or Alex took because you kept the camera still for long enough to really look at all the things! I’m really struggling to find an “ In person” knitting community where I live. So I really love the you-tube podcasts and have noticed you are posting less, but I understand. ClaudiaSJI

For your sweater, you could re kniting it with smaller needles as well, it would be less drapy...
    👍😘👋

I don't bother to turn off notifications because I have this weird ability to not even notice my phone when it is ringing and vibrating even if I'm holding it in my hand. If I'm asleep, I won't hear anything at all. I also tend to sleep through alarms. I've never been Pavlovian enough to respond to a bell or whistle. That said, a dog or cat about to throw up, or when my children were small and would wake in the night, has me leaping out of bed in a heartbeat. I pretty much gave up on almost all social media a few years ago. I haven't missed it. I follow a few creators here on TH-cam and I do hop into the discord chat if people are around when I'm available, which is less often than I'd like but always nice when I manage to catch someone. Other than texts, calls and alarms, nothing is set to make my phone make noises. Since I'm a hermit that lives in the woods, the first two don't happen often. 😉
