I also understand the head in the sand behaviour from the organiser, as she already had money problems and most likely saw the 2023 event as a way to recover losses form the pandemic (hence the £££ ticket and booth prices). I think in her head it was "bigger event = more money" but in reality scaling up an event introduces a lot more issues and higher risks. Last event I went to, which it wasn't a yarn event mind, was a ren faire festival and it was free admission. To me, any admission to something like this is unhinged, but I guess I get it. The faire was a city-thrown event, not through an organization or a group like I think yarn events are held. They have to make their money back for the rent location somehow. Though I would think that would come from the amount of money they charged for vendors, rather than the admission from the people.
@@roseabee7503 I think maybe it's a way of filtering attendees? I could be wrong, but I feel like it's possible that people who are willing to pay for a ticket are more likely to stay longer and buy more stuff to justify the cost of admission instead of just turning up to have a little look around before leaving without spending anything. if that's true then it would be more beneficial for the vendors. that doesn't justify the high cost of the admission in this scenario, just a reason why you would charge money at all. it could also be that vendor fees alone are not enough to cover the event
DFW fiber fest is 5 for one day 10 for the weekend. Free admission for anyone doing classes. They also partner with the hotel next door for vendors to stay onsite and overnight events. And they pay a flat rate for the parking garage, so we free parking too!

If you can find them, Cosmic Crisp apples are very nice. Also, Opals are very interesting in a "not really what you expect from an apple but pleasant nonetheless" way. omg thank you, I just watched the original vid this morning, so this is like a surprise treat
i’ve watched your fyberfest video like 5 times now this is perfect
Okay so as an avid fibre crafter who watches a lot of videos about the actual technique & crafting aspect, and also consumes a loooot of commentary content: I had NO idea there was sa crossover in these two things until I stumbled across your channel and I am LIVING for it omg! I love when my hyperfixations & special interests have "drama" & controversy to unwind because it's _super_ interesting to me and my brain likes being able to use all of the knowledge I've collected over the years to analyse the situations (like the peacock dress saga in the dress history community, iykyk 👀). Just wanted to say all this as I'm super excited and happy to watch your videos - they'll really scratch a deep brain itch for me 🤣🥰
I am only related to yarn through my crocheting/knitting mom but my gods your vids're glorious.
Also on the fav apple thing? Before they started hurting my stomach to eat.. golden delicious were my childhood fav.
thank you for the fyberfest update I really appreciate your commentary videos because you are always very informative and the way you talk is also very calming. also your new haircut looks great
Love how the pickle cable sweater came out! Looks amazing
i love it when my fav youtubers make cameos in my other fav youtubers’ vids via voiceover to read something. it’s a particularly fun easter egg for me
My fav apples are pink ladies ✨
Was just about to say this! I've always been a Fuji lover, but pink ladies have won me over
Ahh your hair looks so good! Also I love the way you present your information, you’re always so well-spoken and well-researched.
You really did some research on this, I’m fully enjoying the public records exposé 😂😂😂
omg the intro!! “okay did you see their outfit?! it was soo cute!” aaah this just made my day… so cute
perfect! a new video while im doing my new blanket! thank you
Was procrastinating taxes, but you called me on it so I stopped and filed and now I am back. Thanks for taking care of us :)
The more you tell us about this the happier I am that I had no chance of going😲 everything should be golden delicious 🤣
My favorite Apple? "Berner Rose" an old Swiss Type. Dark red, white flesh and the sweetest apple ever. Sadly, you can get them just once a year, and you have to know the right farmer. But worth the wait :)
I saw the 1st part while working on an essay and now the second part while working on my thesis… I’m starting to see a theme 😂
Also, Granny Smith & Cosmic Crisp superiority 🍏 🍎
I'm literally watching the old video as this one came into the recommended, excited to come back to this after the initial coverage video
Cosmic crisp supremacy for sure. Not too sweet I always stay crunchy.
Pink Lady apple for sure. Ty for the great video as always Em!
EIGHT SECONDS OMG HI Y'ALL
Hope you're having a great weekend, can't wait to hear what Em has to say!
I was putting this video on hold until I finally got my hand pain to calm down and now I can crochet while watching you, yay!
Currently my favorite kind of apple is a cosmic crisp, but that's only because I can't really find it envy apples anymore. I also enjoy a sugarbee.
Great video, Em. I don't really have anything else to add. We're just making a longer comment for better TH-cam engagement.
Ah, I love Envy apples. They are sold at our Costco and occasionally Safeway/Carrs.
@@lmaowat6358 Envy apples were my first "Holy shit, apples are amazing," experience. Before then I'd only had the deliciouses and galas. Oh how I've grown.
i love honey crisp apples. Love the content! I get so many crochet projects done while watching!
If you can find them, Cosmic Crisp apples are very nice. Also, Opals are very interesting in a "not really what you expect from an apple but pleasant nonetheless" way. While I was living in Washington I made a point of trying different apple varieties when I found them in stores but a lot of them aren't really meant for just eating 😂
Pink lady!!!! They’re so perfectly crunchy and fresh and the flavors are so balanced.
1:32 I have been enjoying your videos. I know sponsors are important to have this content accessible and free, I just want you to be aware of what the CEO of scent bird supports
yes, more people should know this!
@@mishalesi I think so too.
Thanks for the update. I recently tried to find updates. Always amazed at your ability to track down info!!
My favorite kind of apple is called Northern Spy!
OMG! I have an old book from probably 1910 that mentions Northern Spies! The story was set in New England. Maybe someday I’ll get to taste one.
They're vaguely spicy, they taste almost like cinnamon!
Omg. The ending is amazing. Yeah, i bet those people were super relieved they dodged a bullet
I love the idea of apples more than their reality, sorry sis 🍎
I cant believe im so invested in wool, knitting and crocheting drama. yt channel binge activated
Hey you know SB is like run by a cult...right?
when your youtube subscriptions collide and you hear ashley norton in a knitting video
Yikes! Vendors should be grateful for the opportunity to sell their items at the event and its not their business how much the entrance fee is? That's a really gross attitude
I'm literally sipping my tea while you spill the tea.
Also, my favorite kind of apple is apple crumble, followed by apple pie.
Pink lady apples are my absolute fave, but I adore the scent of red delicious apples!
"did you see their outfit? It was so cute!" I wasn't ready but thank you😂 I freaking adore you, Emma 🧡
I love your green sweater! I think your tracking autofocus is freaking out the focus of your video 🥰
The amount of times I gasped during this. Thank you for following up!
Love listening to this channel while working on pattern drafting and writing! My personal favorite apples are Sun Crisps!
I crossed a Comice Pear with a Honey Crisp apple. I only have one tree and the fruit it provides is unreal. Though not technically an apple or a pear. I think it should apply to your question.
This ranks right up there with the crafting drama with the different organizations trying to help animals after the Australian wildfires of 2020. And I’m all about the Honeycrisp.
pink lady is my fav type of apple :) also i just got done binge watching every single one of your vids here while i wrestled the flying spaghetti monster (the nickname ive given the massive tangle of yarn ive accumulated over the years) i absolutely love your style of content and the occasional skits you incorporate, your acting is always hilarious and completely spot on. definitely looking forward to everything else you create!!🧶☕️
I don't knit or crochet or sew or anything and I am living for the yarn drama
this channel is so chill i have the videos playing in the background to balance out overwatch toxicity
Oooh I’m so excited to hear about this drama. Did I know anything about knitting festivals prior to your first video? No. But I am HERE for it!
Cosmic Crisp
The very loud “MOMENT” caught me off guard 😂 why did that make me laugh so much lmao
Love your channel. Your first video came up on my feed. I clicked never having heard of this festival! I am not a knitter. 🤷 You break down this festival so well. I am hooked. 😉 You and Markie are the best!🥇👏👏💐
Honey crisp is my favorite type of apple, although I do love a granny smith with some caramel spread. Thanks for the comment prompt
Thank you for your excellent analysis of Fyberfest! I highly recommend Pink Lady apples.
