In the months following Wool and Folk, many have wondered if the vendors at the event could pursue collective legal action. This video outlines a few updates and additional context that I left out of my last video for time.

Babe wake up Emma has a Fyberfest update
happy saturday !!
Exactly how I feel rn
Real
Literally changed my plans to watch this first
I clicked so fast like you wouldn’t believe, OMG.
“did you see their outfit? its so cute!” one of the many reasons i love this channel, super wholesome!
I was coming to comment "Aww, complimenting people behind their back 🥰"
me in my old PE shirt turned pajamas: aw thanks 🥹🥹
@@lustforlimerence I know, me too. I'm still in my icky clothes because I was grouting floor tile this morning and I was like, "Aw, Emma thinks I'm cute anyway." Insert appropriate good feelings here.
Wholesome information w/appropriate side of snark!❤😂
I loved that so much!
“Do I have your $900? No. BUT, I can offer a small sack of remnants, a handful of buttons, and 3 oz. of premium lint. Also an NDA”
real 😂
Premium Lint! LMAO.
😂
Premium bellybutton lint* that’s organic and free range
@@torigriggs1694 I might be interested. Is it grass fed?
. . . Sitting here in a hospital gown with tubes everywhere. . . "your outfit is so cute". . Thank you! You made my day 😂
Hope you’re doing okay. ❤
oh shit :/ hope you improve soon 🧡
Wishing you wellness and health✨
I got to go home a couple of days ago and match you in the laying down in bed. I hope you feel better soon. I’m not regretting my surgery but I am REALLY tired of being in bed. Good luck! 😊
Thank you so much! I am doing very well. Just a rather boring hospital stay 😊
Every time my fiancé hears your voice coming from my phone he looks at me and goes, “more yarn drama?”
we love to hear he understands you 😭🫶🏼
Hell yeah babe, more yarn drama
I love listening to yarn drama for some reason.
No literally 😅
The Ashley Norton cameo was like a celebrity sighting
I had this playing in the background and my ears perked up like "wait, I think I know this voice from somewhere??"🤣
@@tofuwings17 Literally just happened to me. I tabbed back over here like "huh?? ashley norton?"
The Fiberchats interview with Felicia is worth watching - it explains so much. The previous year she already had insight exactly the same problems (but worse) there would be in 2023. According to Felicia : hey, no parking or access, not her fault besides she was having fun and that’s not her vibe; no drop off or shuttle available? not her again… she’s feeling good and hey, a bit busy hanging with Grocery Girls and enjoying the vibe; the walk and entrance a muddy mess? well, she was busy having fun and hey, she was not even aware of the problem because she didn’t have to walk herself ; and my absolute favourite is her view that if you did not get what you paid for and you “carry” your problems to the phone or email to tell her about it - well, that’s you being “passionate “ and YOU need to “take a minute”… she won’t take it personally and it not for her to care. 😂. wow. She is all about the vibe, her own good vibe and your vibe… go forth and heal yourself, by yourself because you are clearly too passionate. She’s a piece of work.
She seems like just another "small business owner" who uses the aesthetic of community and """"good vibes"""" to get away with Actual Real Crimes. I don't know if it's a deliberate plan to get herself out of her financial hole or if she's just a dumbass, but I guess it doesn't matter to the poor vendors.
I'm so over the hustle culture that makes people chase the glamour of being a business owner without having like,,,, any of the knowledge or experience required.
When I went to the festival it was a f’ing nightmare. I am neurodivergent and the noise/crowds coupled with lack of bathrooms left me leaving early and crying for a while.
Edit : I was also one of the people who threw up in the corner 😅
"Did you see their outfit? It's so cute!"
Me, on my pjs: 😳😳
Me too, I looked down at myself and wondered why she would think flannel pjs with crumbs and a stain are cute. 😄
Same, my pjs consist of bleach-damaged scrubs and an unhold shirt that looks like I was the victim of a firing squad in the western times lol
I was changing! 😂
Me, naked, listening in the shower 🧍
Me, who already saw the other video: I wish people would say that sort of thing about me
came for the tea, stayed for the apple recommendations
Cosmic crisp is my all-time favorite! It’s juicy and crispy and not too sweet or tart
@@laurac86ever since I've heard of the cosmic crisp, I've wanted to get my grubby little mittens on one! I like a good opal, Fuji, gala, or envy. Anything crisp, juicy, and sweet with the right amount of tart to balance it out.
If you like sweet Sugar Bee is my fav!
As someone who does admin for events it amazes me that they didn't cancel when they realised the mudslide situation... cancelling the event on the day would have been chaotic but so much better than putting on an event that was unsafe and such a negative experience for all involved. I also understand the head in the sand behaviour from the organiser, as she already had money problems and most likely saw the 2023 event as a way to recover losses form the pandemic (hence the £££ ticket and booth prices). I think in her head it was "bigger event = more money" but in reality scaling up an event introduces a lot more issues and higher risks. Haven't finished the video yet but seeing a lot of comments about apples - my faves are jazz apples.
There's this thing where people (influences) throw cons thinking conventions will make them money. Conventions almost never make money the first couple years. This feels very similar. I suspect part of the reason vendor and ticket prices where SO HIGH is they spent alot more then they made they made the first two years and decided this year! This year they would cut back everywhere, charge more and finally turn a profit. This is of course only speculation but the pattern feels similar to other events I've seen before.
I'm waiting with bated breath for the civil lawsuit from the woman who fell and dislocated her shoulder (I think thats what it was right?). That woman would definitely win if she decided to pursue legal action
I think she broke it.
Yeah, I heard it was a break also.
💵💵💵
The lawyers: 🤑🤤😋
I continue to find fiber drama hilarious. Thanks providing the soundtrack to which I crochet a tiny capybara taking a bath with a mandarin on his head.
Also cosmic crisp and envy apples have been very good these past few months
i love cosmic crips apples. so juicy and yummy :>
Pink Lady apples are probably some of the best hand eating apples around.
This!!! I pretty much exclusively eat pink lady apples.
They're nice but don't come close to Pinova.
I love a good Pink Lady apple🍎
Pink ladies and golden Delicious are some of my favorites. Good crunch and good sweetness
Pink Lady??? too sour for me. Give Gala
oh my gosh, the Ashley Norton voiceover? i love finding out my favourite creators know each other
ashley norton also has a video where she wears a vest she commissioned from emma! theyre like bros
The duck vest is what brought me here :)
@@jinxedfates also if i'm not mistaken in one of the challenge videos (an older one, couple years old) emma watched ashley! so cool when creators are fans of each other
Ah yes. Niche knitting drama content. Perfect for a Saturday morning.
Thank you so much for covering this event. I am in the process of organizing a knitting retreat and am eager to avoid the pitfalls that other people have fallen into. I don't want to do anything on this scale - just a retreat with a handful of vendors, a couple of workshops, and lots of hanging out with like-minded fiber fiends. The lessons learned from 'Wook & Folk' will be taken to heart.
In the pre planning process for an event myself as well, seeing the disastrous ones discussed in so much detail has been really helpful in knowing what to avoid and/or consider lol
Don’t forget accessibility. I’m a wheelchair user and it makes me sad that most of the time I can’t ever attend to these retreats because nobody considers having accessible events.
@@wheeltrish - I am very aware of this issue. The venue for the last retreat I attended was at a state park lodge set on a hill Access inside the building was great - an elevator and wide doors - but to get to the venue was either up 12 stairs or a long, winding sloped path.
Wool and Folk’s letter should have used the following puns:
“Closing the loop”, “tying up loose ends”
Emma stays dragging and we've never had textile art world tea breakdowns like this ever!
Fyberfest keeps living up to its name by giving the vendors the runaround!
Great video. Poor planning was clearly a major issue for Wool & Folk, but the cavalier attitude Felicia had toward vendors, and customers was also extreme and completely inexcusable. She trash-talked shoppers and lied about everything from the swag bags to the food vendors. I live in Brooklyn and went to String Thing a few times when it opened. Felicia was very charming, but it was obviously all surface. At the start of the pandemic, I contributed a nice sum to her Go Fund Me. After emailing her twice to see if she'd gotten it (she didn't bother to thank me) and getting no response, I figured out that she's just another skel. I was right.
Ew that word is lowkey just gross
She charged people twice as much for the "privilege" of being white.
That right there says everything about her.
@@cjboyo what word?
Okay iI'm excited for the craft drama but your hair with the bright outfit is everything 😍
Not me going and filing my taxes because I forgot until your video! 😅 Thanks so much for the reminder
ain’t no way I open youtube the same second you uploaded
Granny Smith is my personal favorite but honey crisp is great too. Especially when it's been cooled in the fridge
I think honey crisp are all around the most reliably tasty, but I like jazz apples
Whenever I say Granny Smith is my favourite people look at me weird, lol glad I’m not the only one
@@funlover163never realized why honey crisp were my favorite before. Most consistent mf fruit taste of basically any fruit. You ever eat two apples that taste exactly the same? Two strawberries? Two melon slices from the same exact melon? Non. Honeycrisps? The. Same. And always tasty. This week. Next week. Whatever season. ✨Consistency✨
@@bluebel1857 I love sour! My mom would sometimes put lemon juice on them for my lunches as a kid to keep them from browning, it was great 😍
Envy/cosmic crisp are my go to apples. Honestly, even without the weather, I still think there would have been major issues. The crowds inside the main building were insane. They were definitely over the limit of people who should have been allowed in that space. It was so crowded I had to wait in a line to get out a single door while people just kept pouring in. I don’t plan on going back this year if it is held. Especially if it is held in the same place.
Right? I imagine that if the weather had been nice, the numbers would have been even more overwhelming!
You have no idea the joy I get from crafting drama videos.
The best apple is the pink lady. Followed by honey crisp!
I’m partial to Fuji myself
Cosmic crisps are wonderful if you have them where you are.....I think it's a honey crisp hybrid
@@xglosis Same omg!! i came to the comments to see if anyone thought the same haha
I recently got into binging all of your craft drama videos, as someone who loves digital and traditional painting, but knows very little about crochet/sewing/other crafts. It’s been a very interesting experience learning about how much drama there is between artists (as is the same in any art community I guess).
Also side note: love that sweater!
I do not know HOW I started watching these videos about this disaster but I'm fully invested and I don't even knit lmao
APPLE CRUNCHER FTW!!! 😂
You’re so good at this, Emma! Amazing. Also, really?! This has GOT to be impossible to recover from. Seriously. I haven’t heard a peep out of anyone about their “rhinebeck sweaters” yet this year. I feel like a lot of folks have already been buzzing about their plans, yarns, designs, etc. hmmm….
Yes Ashley Norton voiceover! I love that you all are friends!
This is not your typical recommendation, but I used to eat Rome apples as a kid. They're mostly meant for baking, seeing as they're almost flavorless. But they have a great crunch and the extreme subtlety can be kind of soothing. They're also on the large side. I think I just liked eating an apple the size of my face as a small child.
Granny Smith. I love the wholesome vibe. And wow the bargain NDA's are hilarious.
My favorite apple is the Gravenstein! It's not super commonly grown, but I'm from an area where there are some orchards. I think they're like what a Granny Smith dreams of being - tart and satisfying and really, really good for baking and juicing. They've also got pretty, kind of painterly red stripes all across them in some varieties - I just got one tattooed on me, in fact.
Yaaas!
Love getting an update. You always have such well-researched tea, it's great. Also, the haircut looks really good on you.
Also, my favorite kind of apple is Fuji!
Well, I expected abuse of NDAs and refusal to refund anything, but the medical fraud stuff was one heck of a twist.
Also, I’m a honeycrisp and gala apple fan. And I love that cardigan you’re wearing at the end!
I like Cosmic Crisp apples! also, your crafty drama videos give me lifeee
I’ve literally just stumbled across your channel a few days ago and have binged a handful of the longer drama vids…and now I am blessed with a brand new part 2 of #fyberfest let’s goooooo
My favourite kind of apple is called Elstar. It's a Dutch variety created in the 50s-60s. It's super crisp, super juicy, perfectly tart and sweet with a thin skin. Never dry, never mealy or bland. I've literally never had an apple as good as an Elstar.
Also thank you for this update on a situation that does not affect me in the slightest.
I havent watched the video yet but I wanna say I watched your last video and actually almost immediately went to the store and bought myself hair clippers and shaved all my hair off. I've wanted to do this all my life and I've seen it done before but there was something about seeing you do it that helped me to take that step. Also it was really long (like, at my butt) and it was a pain. thank you
I’ve been fighting the buzz cut demons to keep my chin length hair, must keep fighting!!
i’ve watched your fyberfest video like 5 times now this is perfect
I got so much work done in under 20 minutes while listening to this update. Thank you!
omg thank you, I just watched the original vid this morning, so this is like a surprise treat
Is no one going to talk about Emma's fit? There's eating and there's EATING and let me tell you not a crumb was left here today people
After trying to silence the vendors for pennies, all of my sympathy completely dried up. And never giving a real apology! The audacity.
Emma, I like that you always try to be fair. You try to see all sides of the situation and you don't bash anyone. Please keep reporting! Who knew there was so much drama in the crafting world!
I can’t believe it cost $55 to get into the event. It has been awhile since I attended something like this. Is that price ordinary? Whoa. PS-Favorite kind of apple is Honey Crisp. ❤
Last event I went to, which it wasn't a yarn event mind, was a ren faire festival and it was free admission. To me, any admission to something like this is unhinged, but I guess I get it. The faire was a city-thrown event, not through an organization or a group like I think yarn events are held. They have to make their money back for the rent location somehow. Though I would think that would come from the amount of money they charged for vendors, rather than the admission from the people.
@@roseabee7503 I think maybe it's a way of filtering attendees? I could be wrong, but I feel like it's possible that people who are willing to pay for a ticket are more likely to stay longer and buy more stuff to justify the cost of admission instead of just turning up to have a little look around before leaving without spending anything. if that's true then it would be more beneficial for the vendors. that doesn't justify the high cost of the admission in this scenario, just a reason why you would charge money at all. it could also be that vendor fees alone are not enough to cover the event
DFW fiber fest is 5 for one day 10 for the weekend. Free admission for anyone doing classes. They also partner with the hotel next door for vendors to stay onsite and overnight events. And they pay a flat rate for the parking garage, so we free parking too!
@elisebachert6654 that's more my speed. I want to spend all the money on yarn, not on getting in just to buy yarn.
Favorite apple: The Kudos, just released from the U of MN in 2023 (researchers crossed the Honeycrisp, also developed by them, and the Zestar, also from the U of MN. A friend brought all 3 varieties to a gathering last fall, and even though Honeycrisp had been my favorite up until then, it has been supplanted. Yum.
Ooh, now that's some good info! I'll have to be on the lookout for some kudos since honeycrisp has been my favorite for a few years
Thanks for the update. I recently tried to find updates. Always amazed at your ability to track down info!!
"Did you see their outfit? It was so cute!" LOL, for a drama channel you are surprisingly wholesome. Love it!
thank you for the fyberfest update I really appreciate your commentary videos because you are always very informative and the way you talk is also very calming. also your new haircut looks great
My fav apples are pink ladies ✨
Was just about to say this! I've always been a Fuji lover, but pink ladies have won me over
Ahh your hair looks so good! Also I love the way you present your information, you’re always so well-spoken and well-researched.
i love it when my fav youtubers make cameos in my other fav youtubers’ vids via voiceover to read something. it’s a particularly fun easter egg for me
OMG I love the “wand” and the dress is FABULOUS. Whenever I get into a dark place (I too was just super frustrated and angry with myself this past week) I pop in my earbuds turn on a favorite music playlist and I go for a walk or just dance by myself for a few minutes. It always works you can’t be anything but happy when you’re listening to your favorite music and dancing thanks for another great video Katinka ❤
I am a new subscriber and I have really enjoyed going back and listening to your reports on various yarn issues. You do a great job with the story telling. The Ravlery video was especially interesting. I also love your new dark hair look! I am someone who has done my hair many colors over the years. The black hair really suits you, and looks nice with your complexion and the black and green t-shirt and sweater combo was also very beautiful as it really highlighted the stitching on your sweater. I enjoy your channel very much and look forward to what is ahead this year! :)
Love how the pickle cable sweater came out! Looks amazing
i love honey crisp apples. Love the content! I get so many crochet projects done while watching!
Was procrastinating taxes, but you called me on it so I stopped and filed and now I am back. Thanks for taking care of us :)
"did you see their outfit? It was so cute!" I wasn't ready but thank you😂 I freaking adore you, Emma 🧡
You really did some research on this, I’m fully enjoying the public records exposé 😂😂😂
perfect! a new video while im doing my new blanket! thank you
Okay so as an avid fibre crafter who watches a lot of videos about the actual technique & crafting aspect, and also consumes a loooot of commentary content: I had NO idea there was sa crossover in these two things until I stumbled across your channel and I am LIVING for it omg! I love when my hyperfixations & special interests have "drama" & controversy to unwind because it's _super_ interesting to me and my brain likes being able to use all of the knowledge I've collected over the years to analyse the situations (like the peacock dress saga in the dress history community, iykyk 👀). Just wanted to say all this as I'm super excited and happy to watch your videos - they'll really scratch a deep brain itch for me 🤣🥰
Oh I been waiting for this one… we love messy crafting drama 😭😭 thanks emma!!
Literally obsessed with this video and you’re whole channel ❤
I was putting this video on hold until I finally got my hand pain to calm down and now I can crochet while watching you, yay!
Cosmic Crisp
I am only related to yarn through my crocheting/knitting mom but my gods your vids're glorious.
Also on the fav apple thing? Before they started hurting my stomach to eat.. golden delicious were my childhood fav.
The amount of times I gasped during this. Thank you for following up!
Oooh I’m so excited to hear about this drama. Did I know anything about knitting festivals prior to your first video? No. But I am HERE for it!
You have no clue how long I’ve been waiting for this!
I'm literally watching the old video as this one came into the recommended, excited to come back to this after the initial coverage video
I'm literally sipping my tea while you spill the tea.
Also, my favorite kind of apple is apple crumble, followed by apple pie.
I cant believe im so invested in wool, knitting and crocheting drama. yt channel binge activated
I don't knit or crochet or sew or anything and I am living for the yarn drama
when your youtube subscriptions collide and you hear ashley norton in a knitting video
The very loud “MOMENT” caught me off guard 😂 why did that make me laugh so much lmao
Pink Lady apple for sure. Ty for the great video as always Em!
Pink lady!!!! They’re so perfectly crunchy and fresh and the flavors are so balanced.
Thank you for keeping us up to date. Also my fav variety of apple is Sugar Bee!
That sweater looks amazing on you and such a great colour choice 💚
Love your channel. Your first video came up on my feed. I clicked never having heard of this festival! I am not a knitter. 🤷 You break down this festival so well. I am hooked. 😉 You and Markie are the best!🥇👏👏💐
pink lady is my fav type of apple :) also i just got done binge watching every single one of your vids here while i wrestled the flying spaghetti monster (the nickname ive given the massive tangle of yarn ive accumulated over the years) i absolutely love your style of content and the occasional skits you incorporate, your acting is always hilarious and completely spot on. definitely looking forward to everything else you create!!🧶☕️
Love listening to this channel while working on pattern drafting and writing! My personal favorite apples are Sun Crisps!
i've been waiting for this update. love the Ashley Norton voice cameo haha
İ love honey crisp apples!
And Emma, thank you for all the tea in the wildest yarn dramas 😂
I adore your sweater! The color and how cozy it looks is just so so good. I know that's not at all the point of the video, but.. welp. It's so good!
this channel is so chill i have the videos playing in the background to balance out overwatch toxicity
Pink lady apples are my absolute fave, but I adore the scent of red delicious apples!
The buzzed dome looks fire✨
I'm just getting back into crochet, knitting, I'm breaking out my loom... LOVE your channel. Also, current favorite apple is ENVY
Cosmic crisp supremacy for sure. Not too sweet I always stay crunchy.
Thank you for your excellent analysis of Fyberfest! I highly recommend Pink Lady apples.
so chaotic lol the fybrefest name is deserved. also my fave type of apple is granny smith 🍏
I don’t have more to comment on Fybrefest but that ending was absolutely hilarious
I saw the 1st part while working on an essay and now the second part while working on my thesis… I’m starting to see a theme 😂
Also, Granny Smith & Cosmic Crisp superiority 🍏 🍎
Honey crisp is my favorite type of apple, although I do love a granny smith with some caramel spread. Thanks for the comment prompt
Pink lady is probably my favorite apple. Great video as always!!
I see you finished your cable knit sweater! Love it!
