I locked mine up twice when I first started using it by running ice water through it and not giving it a chance to warm up. After rereading the instrucions(yong heng) my start up procedure includes leaving the bleed valves open until the temp gauge indicates 50c. Then keep it between 50c and 70c. I now start with room temp water and add ice(frozen bottles of water) as needed. I have no idea if mine locking up was a fluke or in fact caused by not letting the parts expand before putting it under load but I haven't had any more problems.
