I don't know if you remember, but the first track, "The 1975" is a song they put in every album. Every album has that song, it's the same exact lyrics, they just revamp it every time and produce it completely different. It's kind of like a connection between all the albums.

When you said the way he sings the "It's not living if it's not with you" reminded you of something, I thought about it and it almost sounds like the line "Ouuu Heaven is a place on Earth" in Heaven is A Place on Earth (obvs lol). Idk maybe that's what you're thinking is the sample?

Look deeper at the lyrics in Inside Your Mind too- it's such a gorgeous song but the lyrics are a lot darker and a lot more intricate. Also Sincerity is Scary is such a grower but it's one of my favorites now (also don't forget about Ross, Adam and George! (: )
Be my mistake isnt actually different for them, before they become the 1975 they did a song called 102, they're basically doing a throwback to that through that song
Also, "It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)" is a song about Matty's drug addiction. Notice how he says "collapse my veins wearing beautiful shoes" and all that trippy shit with Danny.

I was honestly getting my life to “Love it if We Made It” completely oblivious to the lyrics. Then I giggled the lyrics and got incredibly depressed at the state of the country right now... still a great song though😩

I also think its not living (if it’s not with you) sounds a lot like heaven is a place on earth. Also these vulnerable songs are my favourite right now. Inside your mind, mine, and be my mistake. They just feel so raw and living despite the sadder meanings. I just love that new direction, and Mattys voice sounds so perfect and emotional and real. Even though I fell in love the the 1975’s sarcastic pop-punk vibes, I feel like the band has grown with us as an audience, who began listening when we were maybe teens, or children, and are now young adults who have experienced love, and loss, and the internet, and infidelity, and the unfairness of the real world. I love this band more than words can say ❤️

The man who married a robot, it gives me the postmodernist Romeo and Juliet vibes of our time. the last line is indeed the most powerful. “And you can see it on his Facebook” It shows that how no matter the life you lead, the Facebook you own will always stay standing, Facebook in this instance is the metaphor for the grave stone. It’s the 21st century gravestone, in that: a grave stone commemorate ones life - just as Facebook does now. The song within its self is powerful owing to the slight complexities that are visible within our day to day lives, it’s grazes upon things we do absentmindedly and yet, pulls us back into reality. The instrumental has an outter worldly feeling married within, which allows for the listening to truthly be able to listen to the every area for the song while looking at themselves through another set of eyes. Just a few thoughts.
Sincerity is Scary is EASILY my favorite song by them, and on the album. It’s so catchy and Matty’s soft vocals just get me in the heart. I can’t resist but get lost in it and sing along with my whole heart. With that being said, Inside Your Mind is the best song productionally. His deep voice? Yes. That ambient guitar? Yes. 100% YES.
