    It would be nice if you can do a quick interview with your friend who designed the instrument cluster of the FL5. I recently got mine and love the retro ques when the dash is in comfort mode. It has the bright yellow needles from the original Type R and it imitates the effect of the old school halogen light shining down from the top. It’s so nice I love driving again!!

    I run reps on my daily driven AP1 on rims and lips. Lips due to road hazards and animals and rep rims for the past 10yrs no problems. It’s not a show car so I don’t need status symbol or bragging rights just to be functional for a daily driven car

    I absolutely love what Spoon is doing with the FL5. Happen to know what suspension their shop FL5 has in your video? I'm assuming the FL5 specific springs? Would love to know as I just purchased a set for mine :)

    6:05 if I can’t go to spoon atleast albo can thanks buddy! 8:04 I don’t mind reps, not everyone can afford the real thing. For my nice integra i like buying the real thing. The thing about it is I wouldn’t ever bother modifying my daily with aftermarket parts simply due to wear and tear. 10:41 if you can get an older Honda that’s in good shape go for it but you won’t be able to enjoy it since if you break something you may not be able to repair it. That makes the new cars more attractive. Even generations like the FD2 are hard to get parts now.

    I think Honda should really look into have a vintage parts program just like Nissan and Toyota, as JDM cars get older, we need support to restore them just like in the US with year one who makes replica parts for GM cars

    new car vs old car?
    your dream car, dude.. For those really classic and famous car one still can find parts around. and if not - then maybe replacements.
    But if you are dreaming about FL5 or GT86 - cool! as long as you, as owner, are happy. That's most important after all.
    + you get benefit of new platform that will be around for next 20 years or so.

    I’m ok with Reps if you say it’s a rep or “similar styling” as the original….good option to have the look without the high prices, but you do get the quality of what you pay for

    The lip does look nice. I would probably forego that in the name of practicality and too much lows just not fitting my life, especially for 'wagons,' though. (These vehicles would not fit the slot I would consider putting a 'Civic' in , but they'd be a solid possibility for a 'wagon' slot.)
    As for 'rep' parts, I don't care much for branding or 'authenticity,' especially given my *real* budget, but there seems to be an increasing necessity for the buyer to beware, quality and fitmentwise.

    No to reps, while I greatly appreciate the old school cars, I would like to look for more of these “final” generation cars to garage like the new Z, Supra, FL5, GR86 and such. The only “older” car I’d really get would be a v1 nismo 370z as that’s the car that got me into cars

    REP PARTS: Albo it's easy for you to say no to rep parts when you live in the country that manufactures them. The shipping costs, second hand part price gouging, selling reps as "real" parts is rife in UK so I'd rather save a considerable amount of money knowing I'm buying a rep than take the risk. I think "rep" wheels is different too. As long as they're forged, lightweight then I would consider.
    There's too much shenanigans trying to get "real" jdm parts to UK and it's hard to pass up on reps or inspirations when there are enthusiast garages manufacturing parts "inspired by" mugen and spoon here in the UK

  • @stevegonzales527
    @stevegonzales527 ปีที่แล้ว

    who cares if people have reps or not, its their car if it looks the same and theyre happy with it then why should anyone care if its an authentic or rep. bonus points since theyre smart and saving money on whats more important in life > happyness

    As much as possible, I too would stick away from reps (knowingly, anyway), but I am a function over form type of person as well. I tried the replica mazdaspeed wing on my RX8... It got the job done, but the fitment was terrible, and asymmetric. So I dropped the grand and got a used authentic wing from Japan. Alternatively, I got the Seibon hood and trunk for my RX8. The hood fitment is trash, the carbon molding was bowed, so my fender gaps are huge... Even legitimate parts come with flaws.

    reps are fine as long as they don't endanger the riders and those around them. it's like the sneakers, i often say that reps actually are not too far off from the actual quality of the official wheels or sneakers. if it looks cool and works as intended and doesn't hurt people, all good from me.

    • @OllamhDrab
      @OllamhDrab ปีที่แล้ว

      With cautions. I don't care about auto parts and brands as 'status objects,' but I think they need to be trustworthy and fit for purpose. And apparently you gotta be careful about some knockoffs, especially if you intend to push them hard.
      I mean, there's a 'rep' wheel company I kinda plan to get some knockoff BBS meshies or something from, ...for my Volvo, cause they can do the bolt pattern and offset I prolly want and I have no intention of exceeding 250 HP for this car anyway, so, should be absolutely fine.
