"AETN", also known as the "Anti Entropy Thermo Nullifier", also known as the "Hydrogen fueled colony chiller", also known as the "Magical AC unit from Spaaaace"
I started playing ONI this weekend, and I was having hard time figuring things out, but your videos and tutorials have been really helpful in learning the mechanics of the game. I'm on my way to making my first SPOM - Can't wait to see more ~
On this episode things definitely started to spile out of control with you cutting off oxygen supplies breaking the left side of the map and heating up the mealwood while not having a cooling solution
You say there’s not much iron on this planetoid, but compared to the current Twitch/VOD base, it’s positively rich! lol I’m really enjoying this challenge. It’s really gonna come down to food and oxygen solutions, and fairly hard and fast, too. Everything else is gonna run a close third. Now, how many dupes will the colony lose before that happens thanks to things like incautious digging??? XD As for the AETN, you’re right, it’s a clunky name. I think I’ll call it Tony instead. :D
For the amount of labor you have, it’s probably more effective to vacuum out rooms by filling them with tiles. Pumps take a long time, tiles can be quick!
You're absolutely right, only thing is you kinda have to babysit the process, so you cant give much attention to anything else. As opposed to just letting the fans do their thing. But for smaller spaces I still do it.
Just as a heads up, the AETN will be able to delete 26.5C when your SPOM maxes out at ~3kg/s. Just in case you find yourself wondering why it's doing x amount (too little on full throughput or too much on lower throughput). Boy do I love that machine though
You've probably already figured it out, but you do produce more than enough hydrogen for a Magic AC Unit. I kinda think MACU rolls off the tongue, both as letters and as a word (sounds like Pacu, but it's an m) I would like to point out that from my previous experience, an AETN can only directly chill one full Rodriguez, possibly more if you sit it in a chilled hydrogen atmosphere. I'd like to suggest an HVAC room. I'm thinking of making a short on it soon. Edit: Yes the mask and suit docks, all kinds, have an animated meter to show the level of oxygen in it.
You think that -4 Athletic dupe was slow ? I had an anemic dupe out in a space suit with like -8 athletics, he was out there for at least two days and I only noticed because of the starvation message. Yes he fell asleep while running... on the spot. So some time later I build a gym for him, and forgot him there for like 200 Cycles, he has a 20 athletics stat.
Hey Echo, can you explain why Gossman at 16:49 wasn't a good pick ? i mean... they have +18 strength, even with the -3 or -5 from noodle arms they'd be excellent suppliers or sweepers wouldn't they ? might also be due to the interests not being that useful in the relatively early game but still they have a dual +9 strength which seems really interesting at first glance
That's a good point. I didn't even notice that because my brain usually glosses over the attribute bonuses from interests. But on the other hand I also glosses over traits that simply decrease/increase attribute like noodle arms, I just think to myself 'they will level up over time who cares'
Game shows the total amount of strength the dupe has from two interests, he has only 9. Then he has double negatives - Gourmand significantly drops morale, and you wouldn't make him a cook. And Noodle arms, while insignificant (first level of carrying capacity is equal to 12 strength), still a detriment to his main abilities.
For the SPOM+AETN in my current game I found I had to run the hydrogen over the AETN input before sending it to the gas reservoir / hydrogen generator. You only want to lose 10g from each packet and ensure the AETN isn't eating hydrogen if the SPOM isn't running. Note: you can use !! priority to see what kind of geyser it is. Personally I've never been a member of the Always Be Digging society. Each cell you dig out needs to be filled with oxygen, something you don't have a surplus of. In addition, when you discover you're out of something you can't just mine some more while you come up with a plan B. (In my current game I discovered early in the game I had very little algae, so I rushed the SPOM research.) Any reason you don't use liquid locks? Oxygen masks are also a good stop-gap for hostile atmospheres until you have atmo suits.
Though I know it'll probably create problems down the line, would it be woth creating a sauna that you can just pump any water variant into, heat it up, and then use turbines to convert it into regular water? With the amount of vents on the map it would 100% create more water than could ever be turned into oxygen
The AETN is really weak from when I tried to use it (its 80 KDTU). You can make a much more energy efficient cooling system using steam turbines and aquatuners.
Echo, could you expand your initial Mess Hall by building one tile over each ration box, but leaving the 2 in the middle as ladders? Would you still be able to reach both with a minimum of inconvenience?
the intent is to waste hydrogen. SPOMs always produce excess hydrogen so you need a solution to dump the excess so you don't back up your gas pipes. the bridges determine the priority so in this case, the hydrogen first fills up the hydrogen generators to keep the SPOM powered, then it goes to the AETN and backfills those pipes, when all that is taken care of there's no current further use for hydrogen meaning it just has to be burned so that the pipes and pumps continue to work. usually, I hook up one last hydrogen generator connected to a lamp so that hydrogen is always burning no matter what, and I learned that from this channel. hope that makes sense :)
@@28pinkdancer I usually just connect to some jumbo batteries connected to the main power spine. Burning it off without getting some use out of it is not my idea of efficient.
@@28pinkdancer i do understand the purpose of burning off excess but i run a smart battery with a higher "on" threshhold then my other batteries are set. my normal normal batteries run the 80/20 range but my burner batteries for this very sake used the 95/60. this way they turn on first and stay on longer. but in my build i also encorporate an overflow gas reservoir in the off chance im batteries stay full for long periods. plus having a small pool of hydrogen lying around comes in handy occationally.
I swear Echo. I’m not watching not because the series is going on. I’m just focusing on my base at the moment. I’m currently in a power blackout likely because of too many transit tube access points.
"AETN", also known as the "Anti Entropy Thermo Nullifier", also known as the "Hydrogen fueled colony chiller", also known as the "Magical AC unit from Spaaaace"
I always called the AETN the 'Squishy Squishy' Don't know why? watch it running! It also seems a fitting name for the ONI universe!
I started playing ONI this weekend, and I was having hard time figuring things out, but your videos and tutorials have been really helpful in learning the mechanics of the game. I'm on my way to making my first SPOM - Can't wait to see more ~
Welcome in!
I've always called the AETN "Thermy," it just makes it so friendly!
1:48 I pitch calling it the H.A.T. - the Hydrogen-powered Anti-entropy Thermo-nullifier.
I call the Anti Entropy Thermo Nullifier "Big Chilla" or "Mr. Freeze"
I've been enjoying this series and look forward to the next episode :)
2:03 i like to call it the "cooling alien"
nice to see my namesake make the vid!
If you had a British accent, you could call the AETN “the Nully”.
Call it "ETNA", much easier to say and ironic since it's cold.
The Anti-N... there is no place like airconditioning!
I call the AETN the ANT, blame my friends
If you put the extra pacu eggs in a storage container then they turn into more calories from eggs than they would from fish meat
Yep. And the new(ish) pancake souffle recipe is pretty wonderful, ROI-wise.
Maybe the next spom can be a soggy variant? You know me I do love me a soggy rodriguez
Me, too. Especially since I hate getting hydrogen where it doesn't belong.
Looking forward to the next episode. Follow the series all the way through🫡
Best series yet. More dupes please.
On this episode things definitely started to spile out of control with you cutting off oxygen supplies breaking the left side of the map and heating up the mealwood while not having a cooling solution
I call em Aethers- Anti Entropy THermo nulifiERS. the heat goes into the aether and doesn't come out
Love the videos..... using a Gas shut off and thermal sensor is a great control for the cooler
the AETN should just simply be called Heaty Deletey
I think this is my favorite suggestion 😂
The Nulifier works fine as a short hand.
Only reasonable name here in a sea of silly names.... 🙂
A handy, unempathetic dupe named after an engineer IRL...yeah, that checks out actually.
You say there’s not much iron on this planetoid, but compared to the current Twitch/VOD base, it’s positively rich! lol

Love the videos🎉
Actual name of the series: "let's see where ONI breaks"

I surrounded my AETN in a matal box, lined with tempshift plates and filled with hydrogen. running pipes through it chilled them nearly instantly
Another great video. More dupes!
Spooky echo at the end, but not to spooky episode :D
Just as a heads up, the AETN will be able to delete 26.5C when your SPOM maxes out at ~3kg/s. Just in case you find yourself wondering why it's doing x amount (too little on full throughput or too much on lower throughput). Boy do I love that machine though
that's the tallest spom i've ever seen
Has anyone suggested calling the thermo nullifier Edna yet? I think that's a good name for it.
That's what I wanted to write. Well, almost.
I would call it Etna.
You've probably already figured it out, but you do produce more than enough hydrogen for a Magic AC Unit.

definitly not gonna steal any of these designs😁

>18:15
Shouldn't you use gas element thermal sensor in the pipe right outside the AETN room for a more precise control?
I just call it “Slinky” because it kinda has a spring shape to it.
I just called the AETN "The Nullifier" to make it easier to say
Hey Echo, can you explain why Gossman at 16:49 wasn't a good pick ?

When dupes have both, they don't receive both bonuses. Additionally, remember the noodle arms will impact their max strength in the low run too.
AETN = Frosty Boi

A new series 🫨
hey! what are the values you use for the atmo sensors in your spom ?
the "heat deleter"
You could also call the AETN the “18” or maybe “A-10” it sounds similar
I just call it The Nullifier.
7:58 Now there will be time because of this process... bam, cut to another scene. So time for what? :D
My dyslectic mind read that as ATEN (u know, like Athens in Greece) first time when i saw it, and it stayed that way ever scince ;)
Though I know it'll probably create problems down the line, would it be woth creating a sauna that you can just pump any water variant into, heat it up, and then use turbines to convert it into regular water? The HFC : hydrogen fueled cooler
Chilly billy boi
Just call it thermo-nullifier. What is the weird cut at 8:03
Ouch, good catch. I screwed up in editing.
Space cooler? It is what it does, no?
AETN since the N is part of the T you just AET as in ate the heat.
The AETN is really weak from when I tried to use it (its 80 KDTU). You can make a much more energy efficient cooling system using steam turbines and aquatuners.
7:54 I feel like you were going to continue that sentence. What were you meant to say?
The anti heat
❤
1:45 hidrojen cooler or hooler just a nickname for it
why didnt you inspect the computer desk for the databank?
Echo, could you expand your initial Mess Hall by building one tile over each ration box, but leaving the 2 in the middle as ladders? Would you still be able to reach both with a minimum of inconvenience?
That would work yes.
AETN just sounds like Aunty-n, so I propose just calling the machine Aunty 😂
It really does not
always call it, the nullyier
Hydrochiller
Hydrocooler, Hydrochiller, same thing. I'm gonna just say he picked mine and be happy with it :D
🎉🎉🎉
neat
A.E.T.N. or Super Cooler.
Remembered comment for engagement
I'm surprised you didn't smart battery pair that last hydrogen generator so it doesn't waste hydrogen when adding to a full network.

We will get there. I need to see how much I need to burn before I start regulating it.

How about calling it "the magic heat sink"?
I pronounce AETN kind of like the name Aiden with a T lol.
I call it hydrpgen coldifier
There will come a time in the far future that your aetn room will vacc out cuz of the doors. Just try to remember. Maybe put a h2 vent in there.
I always say it like "Edna" but with a T instead of D, so Etna...
What about AnETheN? I'd pronounce it like "an-eth-an" or "an-ee-th-an"
Why not call it "Nullie"? ;-)
Rename the entropy cooler whatever to something like hydro-cooler
Hydro-cooler is one of the best I have heard.
why not call the AETN the Heat-er or H-Eater. i shouldn't have to explain the pun...right?
lol
15 min gang
Echo I feel that you should print care packages when you roll bad dupes in the printing pod
name AETN Aiden
AETN but pronounce it "ayten"
can you inspect the pod please
First to write first
>6:00
!bow @Queen_Kalero
AETN or just “cooler king building” CKB. For sgrot
