This was again, really useful... I am 9 months pregnant and I came across the concept of hypno birthing rather late... So I don't want to stress myself with doing a complete online course now. I will try and practice your breathing and give it a try!
Sometimes when I'm anxious this doesn't help me relax. Focusing on my breath can help but sometimes for some reason it doesn't. Not sure if it's the visualisation. Any advice?
Hi Jen, if the visualisation is tricky in times of anxiety you can try just counting a 3 in and 6 out, then when that feels comfortable a 4 in and 8 out... and again when that feels comfortable a 7 in and 11 out. Alternatively, place your hand, palm up and open on your lap. Curl your fingers into a fist on the out breath and then slowly open your hand out wide again on the in breath. Then repeat. Try those out and let me know how you get on. Melanie x
If you get light headed, does that mean I'm breathing too long either inhale or exhale. I kind of skip my stomach get to my legs, and remember i forgot my stomach go back up, and by the time I get to my feet I'm lightheaded.
Regina, apologies, I didn't get a notification about your comment. I wouldn't think so hard about it to start with. Just feel the flow of air up to the top of the head and then all the way back down again. It really doesn't matter if you skip a bit. Just follow the path in your own time, so it is comfortable to breathe. xx
