Happy new year Dan Stayed up in same bothy 9 years ago whilst training was for mountain leaders course, met a old guy in the bothy all he does all year round is travel from bothy to bothy in UK . between 6 of us gave him our spare food he could hardly carry it, brought back good memories watching this one, weather was horzontal rain 🌧️.once again have a good new year 👍
Love it up there. Thanks for sharing. The lake to the far side of Buttermere is Crummock Water. Your bag must have been weighty carrying 10 fire logs!!! Happy New Year!
I think the mic is working well for you. Obviously you can hear the wind but It's not obnoxious at all. It mutes it just enough to still give you a sense of how strong the wind is. Thank you for the trip
Enjoyed the video. Was going to say if it's the DJI MIC2 it has 32 bit float and records internally also. It doesn't peak so you could use the internal recording if needed. It will be Crummock Water behind Buttermere.
Excellent video of the gray hills. Those old shacks are a great place to get out of the weather and to enjoy a wild night in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for sharing 😊
Brilliant little bothy and the view from the window absolutely spectacular. Definitely need to get myself some of them bags and get the wife to prepare me a few meals. ATB Dan 👍 👍 👍 👍
Wow stunning views Thanks for sharing?:) I miss the mountains and hiking and watching Bears drink water in the streams . Clearity is amazing the gale force winds can nock you off your feet hit lower back and yes could hurt your bum badly.
Nice one mate. I was up on the highest peak of The Mendip Hills in storm Gerrit. 50+ mph gusts. The car park at the mines were £15.00 this year too, in the late summertime. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️
The mike works really well. Happy New Year to you and yours. May 2024 continue to be successful for you and all your endeavors. Looking forward to your next video
I think you were worried if you fell asleep you might have woken the others by snoring. That's what kept you awake. Just an idea. All the best for 2024 and keep up the great videos. Here's to 100,000 subs.
Thanks Dan for another great video bless ya for coming out in such bad weather yet ilove the wind love the hat bdw❤ and all the best for the new year will be watching all your videos for the 2024❤
Oh my gods… sorry man! You pop up on my Home Screen so often from watching your vids I thought I was already subscribed! 🤦♂️ … love your stuff man… love you… proper genuine gadgy 🤘🫶
Also … sorry… back again…. That microphone is amazing… if there was some chance I didn’t want to watch these absolute spectacular views and listen to your banter… I’m gonna keep watching in case you tell us what it is cos I want one😂
Sorry 🤦♂️ back again… ah it’s good for the algorithm… I think 😂… dude… without getting too spiritual n stuff but you’re obviously very in tune with your environment… I’ve seen this in loads of your other videos… I reckon the empath in you fed off that other dude’s anxiety about being caught camping and that’s why you couldn’t sleep 🤔
Many thanks for a great end to 2023 ❤ As always, an awesome video EW Happy New Year to you and all your family Already looking forward to following your adventures in 2024
Great hike my friend , Isn't it funny the people who you run into on long hikes , the old Bothy has seen better dats , and could do with some maintanance , looking foreward to the next . 🙂👍
This type of camping would be completely alien to anyone I know here in my part of the US. I can't imagine just chilling in a tiny cabin and then other people show up to take up residence in the cabin. I did enjoy the video though. Beautiful countryside.
The sound is excellent Mate under extreme conditions! That new mic and softie really makes the different doesnt it. :) I have been to Honister slate mine before. The tour of the mine is excellent, if anyone wants to partake. And the coffee in the cafe is not half bad either :) Such a sad story about the owner. Helicopter journeys through those hills and valleys, well, not a good idea in low cloud or extreme wind conditions. But a great place to visit. And you have Buttermere no more than, oh three miles ish. Well worth a visit. The most picturesque lake in the Lake district. I know that you have camped at Sykes Farm before. Lovely place and lovely beer! :) Happy New Year to you Sir. Keep fighting the good fight :)
I’ve been up there many times, it is a bit of a slog but it’s less than a mile so not too bad if you keep stopping to get your breath back. Top tip, if you’re a member of the National Trust (I am) you get free parking in their car park adjacent to Honister slate mine.
@@englishwoodsmanYou live & learn Dan. Great video & showed what the bothy is for when the weather is bad. Maybe a group could get together & rebuild the other room(s) up with a roof on .....don't know if there's a grant or whether volunteers would help pay for it. Maybe something the local mountain rescue team might know about or the council & could be worth looking in to. Anyway all the best to you & your family for 2024.
Another very relaxing video, i've been binging your channel recently. So glad to have found it. I have had loads of motorbike trips & Lake district was such a fun one last time. I have subscribed & hope you hit your goal when you are ready
its beautiful wish i was fit enough to do the hikeing can hear you fine love the hat looks real cosythat terran looks a bit scethey deep drops and stream seems fastnot for me cause as i got older i got more clumsey and no balance but love watching you take the challenge++++++
Another great video Dan. Think i saw you round langsett this morning when i for a walk with my family but got a bit starstruck and got in two minds whether it was you or not and whimped out of saying hello haha, sorry if it was you, happy new year mate, love all the videos.
I’m a member of the National Trust so park in their car park right next to the slate mine for free (we’ll apart from my membership but I get more than the cost back over the year.)
Just recently learned about bothys. They sound fascinating. I knew scotland has some but i didnt know they were in other places in the UK. Is there a map that shows their locations? I have always wanted to visit the UK and i would like to see a couple of bothys. Maybe some day i will be able to save enough to go there. I really enjoy your videos.
Happy New Year to you Dan, great little vid, keep up the content next year. Maybe get a lanyard for your mic on a draw cord so you can alter the distance to your mouth plus it keeps your hands free for camera etc
Maybe you can't relax cos you are afraid of any of your snoring might offend the other fellas? I think id prefer my own tent to be honest, you're in your own space then. It was a bit of a windy walk! Thank you for the video. Have a good new year 🫡

Congratulations on the 80K Dan.
Thank you so much
I remember when the parking was free at the slate mine, how times have changed
It is during the day but if you want to park overnight I think it’s £15.
It was £5 at one point
Hello Dan , as requested some time ago , a spelling mistake at the beginning , lets GOT running ! , 🤔, The Microphone works very well mate .
I will always make mistakes bob 😅
Dan has always made it clear that spelling isn't his strong point
Happy New Year Dan. 🖖

I need to look into something
Im on the run too so as a fugitive I dont wish to be shown on camera either 😉
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been watching your videos so I subscribed today! I hope you reach your goal for this year 🙏🏼😘
Thank you for subscribing and happy new year
Braking up at 4:12😂
Dan, the microwave meals. Can't you just leave them in there original packet?
Thanks Dan, and a Happy New Year to you😊
I wouldn’t trust the original packing not to leak plus the bags make the meal fit into the cook pot better
Yep, of course. Cheers. Have a good one.
@@Martycycleman you too 👍
No mate it's easier to reheat like this
The bovvaaaay 😂
Bothy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe you can't relax cos you are afraid of any of your snoring might offend the other fellas? I think id prefer my own tent to be honest, you're in your own space then.
It was a bit of a windy walk! Thank you for the video. Have a good new year 🫡
100 % better off in a tent
Hi Dan have you got a link to the bag sealer
Good one Dan, I get the feeling you're not an indoorsy sort of bloke, happy new year mate 👍
