I agree, especially if you can get multiples😉. A lot of guys talk RPM, there no better RPM than staying parked and collecting $175 ever 1.5 hours. You string together a few of them and now we are talking “surgeon money” 👊🏻🍻
only a fool would call that a kiss ass move. Going above and beyond the call of any duty is always a win and a plus and shows a lot of great qualities, i would have done it too Stat, as far as that scale house on 15 no comment they are one of the worse in the State for sure drive safe correct it and keep on pushen forward #trucklife
Yep! These “above and beyond” gestures have led to all sorts of stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I like being nice, but I like hostler shifts too 🤣 15N scales at Rainbow are 💀 I get that cold feeling every time I have to head through there. I cut out the part where I waited for my wife to bring me new pants because I 💩 myself. Kidding, but I could see that in my future. Always good to hear from you my friend, your truck is so fine😎 👊🏻🍻
I assume they have worked out some sort of risk assessment model and have their AFP’s work during daylight hours. I’ve been at facilities during the day and seen nothing but AFP’s checking in. At night on the other hand, O/O’s easily outnumber AFP’s. If it means better rates, I can shift my schedule to nights. Catching me out during the daylight hours means I either got an early start or it’s very late in my day. 👊🏻🍻
Solid advice, thank you. This event prompted me to do exactly that but after reading your comment, I realize I need more than just headlamp replacements. Thank you 🙏🏻 👊🏻🍻
I only did 1 XLA1 load. Had to go back to the Scheaffer drop yard. Huge potholes, dust, and crammed like sardines with trailers. I don't do any loads that have XLA1,2, or 3 anymore.
I’m surprised more people don’t drop on the street like I saw because when you get to that specific spot it says “arrival successfully detected”. The first time I went down that road my “I messed up meter” was 10/10. The icing on the cake for me was the first time I went down it I stopped at the stop sign where the PGS trucks go into thinking that was the spot, their guard came out and berated me, told me to “keep fucking going”. Fortunately (for both of us), it takes a lot more than that to get me heated, but he definitely not making the situation any better with that attitude. Yet another place I leave just shaking’ my head, you’re smart for not going back. 👊🏻🍻
I agree about them changing prices after still doing the milage in which you booked the load for . Them chamging up after load booked has nothing to do with you.
It hasn’t always been this way, there was a time when if you ran one leg and they canceled the rest, you still got the agreed upon payout. This is the exact reason why I set my “max stops” filter to 3 because I’ve seen too many multiple stop trips get shaved back with the carrier holding the bag. Amazon for me is definitely a love hate relationship and this is perfect example of them themselves using their power in the worst possible way. 👊🏻🍻
Congrats on passing the CA inspection... they have a reputation of dumping a bunch of CSA points on your head, I hear. Shame about the light. Most officers will let it slide if you tell them you have the bulb/fixture on board, and can fix it right there right now.
Thank you! Here is the hurtful part that I must admit because I address it in an upcoming video… I didn’t have the replacement bulb on board. 😳 I 100% own this mistake and try to turn it into a “teachable moment” for everyone out there who (like myself) still considers themselves to be “new” at trucking. Never forget that three years ago I was counting pills, giving flu shots, having zero idea what a Jake brake was. I’m the guy in CDL school who made everyone else look real good when it came time to name the engine parts. I’m teachable though😃 👊🏻🍻
Are you wanting me to add Baltimore to the Relay Rates potential city list or are you wanting a load board video for there? If you want a load board vid, let me know box truck or semi. 👊🏻🍻
@STATTrucking , I'd like to see a load board video like I've seen for other areas. I know that there's a list of places that have been requested. I'd like Baltimore semi to be added. I've seen the short that you made for Baltimore. A long form video would be nice to see. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
If I wasn’t worried about a copyright strike on my account, I would have dubbed in the song from Deliverance as I was driving down it. Are you really a Vandy fan or are you salting my wound?🤣 To go from such a high off of that win over Georgia to such a low the next week has me wanting some mood stabilizers or maybe some of that trucker speed, Benzedrine, Percocets, amphetamines, black beauties and west coast turnarounds…. If I go that route, I know a guy….🤣
For a good night like this, a good statistic I'd like to know is rate per ALL miles. I'm trying to get a handle on how far you are deadheading bdtween these losds... as little as possible I know...
This was actually a night with a lot of DH, here’s how it broke down: $1422.50 224 loaded miles $6.35/mi loaded 509 total miles 😕 $2.79/mi total miles 64 gallons of fuel burned. I normally try to bookend loads to closer facilities, but the ones up to the farm were $5.56/mi & $6.27/mi respectively, so I had a hard time turning them down. Lately, it been a toss-up, if I just stay in San Diego I can make that RPM go a lot higher but end of my day, I’m making about $600-$800/night. If I want to break the $1K barrier, I gotta make the RPM drop a bit and be willing to head up to Ontario or LA. I had a day this last week where I made $700 on 21 miles (not 210, twenty one). I justify the DH on nights like this because the truck can’t possibly get any better fuel efficiency than when bobtailing. 👊🏻🍻
@@STATTrucking Very good information, thanks for the detailed breakdown. It gives me some parameters to work within to try to duplicate what you are doing.
I realized I may have misspoken/misrepresented a part of that. When I’m saying loaded, I mean I have a trailer attached, however that trailer could be empty. SAN3➡️SCA7➡️SAN3 carts DSD8➡️Farm empty trailer DSD5➡️Farm empty trailer Anaheim ➡️ Eastvale empty trailer 80% of the miles I run for Amazon are moving empty trailers and I realize I’m using the term “loaded” incorrectly. It’s just easier than saying “paid for” miles. What would be the correct term for those miles?
@@STATTrucking Oh I don't think you misstated, misspoke or misrepresented anything... I was just looking for clarity, which you detailed perfectly in your reply. I'm going to try to replicate your method this Winter. Your breakdown in your reply was exactly the information I needed. Thanks
Hey Todd...thanks for all the info! I'm wondering how you got from TX to CA when you first bought your truck? Did you just have a bill of sale and insurance? Or did you buy permits for all the states you crossed? I'm asking cause I'm fixing to head from Oregon to call with an auction truck I bought. Thanks brothet!!!
I’m going to offer some possible unethical advice, but I’m going to try and justify it. Head there with a few printed out signs (in case you lose one) that say “NOT FOR HIRE” and tape them onto both sides of the truck. I would not put your company info (name/DOT/MC) on it until you are ready to run. Here’s where this may be unethical: Say on your way back, a DOT officer finds a violation on the truck, you don’t want that to be held against your company, you just bought the truck and haven’t had a chance to care for it yet. With a “not for hire” sign, all you are is a CDL driver whose driving a truck from point A➡️B. There are those in this industry who like seeing others fail and feel that violation should be on your companies CVSA score, I disagree with them. I would leave those signs on your truck right up until the day you are ready to “run”. I kind of went off on a tangent there😂 To answer your question, I did buy permits in each state. The truck had temp Texas plates on it so there was nothing to do in Texas, but New Mexico ($30) and Arizona ($80) wanted their piece of me. Ironically, California did not charge me anything, stopped at the state line scales, was expecting to pay some exorbitant amount, and they said there was no fee. I’m still unsure if there really is no fee or it was that way because I live here and this was the final destination of the truck🤷🏻♂️ I would assume that the truck will have Oregon temp tags and if California still is not charging for permits, there’s a chance you don’t have to pay anything. Just stop at the California scales when you enter the state, go inside, show them the bill of sale and see what they say. When I was coming back from Texas, I didn’t even have an ELD and was just manually keeping track of my drive time through the Motive app. Again, not saying this was correct, but no one ever asked to see it. I believe the “not for hire” thing is the correct thing to do, I just remember being nervous coming home because it’s one of those scenarios I might do once or twice over the rest of my working life. 👊🏻🍻
Lot of times in situations T.O.N.U is definitely better.
