"Compression is like taxes"--Gregor needs a merch page with that on a t-shirt. I think this is a big reason I love Studio One. Gregor and Joe are the best. Thank you Studio One, not only for a fantastic product, but lessons from Gregor and Joe are over the top.

Excellent discussion Gregor. I'm self taught in my application of being a volunteer mix engineer at my local church. I'm certainly not claiming to be a pro by any standards. My love for electronics and sound equipment was started by my grandfather.
It started about 10 years ago on an old analog 24 channel Mackie. We'd gotten this from another church we're in fellowship with. The other sound guys were trying to figure out how to run it and hook it up. I'm kind of like well let's just hook it up like x y z, and I'll follow the audio path from setting the trim, EQ, compressor, etc. on down through the fader and out the master. I learned quite simply by changing knobs and buttons, let's find out what this does.
Fast forward to 2023 and now I'm mixing my Livestream on the PC, the mixer is a Soundcraft Ui16 web based virtual mixer, Studio 68c interface, running through my Studio One 6 Artist DAW for plug-in effects, an ATEM Mini Pro video switcher, and out to Zoom Meeting, Vimeo, and TH-cam.
I'm always grabbing bits of how-to info from many sound engineers like yourself and Joe Gilder. Keep up the great tutorials.

Excellent as always. Regarding Sphere, I recently purchased Studio One 5 Professional, so I am reluctant to pay a monthly amount for the extras. You have such a great DAW that I expect this version to last me for years. I can’t imagine it falling short of my needs in the future, but if that ever changes, I can always pay the one-time upgrade price. So I’m one of those users who doesn’t like to “rent” software. Still, I can sense that’s the way the world is headed.

Gregor, I'm brand-new to all of this and not only really enjoying my PreSonus Audio Interface, but playing with Studio 5.1.2 and learning what I can. I've been using it for months now. HOWEVER, I originally only purchased it to run audio with my live streaming shows, but now am using it for podcasting as well. Most of the videos you've produced deal with recording music (which is very understandable, of course) I'm looking for videos that show me how to record small clips of audio to be saved and inserted into portions of the podcast (such as music or special effect audio clips) as transitions between segments of the show. I've learned a lot from these videos, but try to skip over the things that are way over my head and filter out what I need to know and use.
If you have videos that cover this in simple laymen's terms, could you point me to them? You and Joe have covered so much here and on the Presonus website, but I'm still not finding info on some of the things that I'm looking to do. Either that or it is escaping me somehow.
