I've found your channel recently and i'm really liking your videos, your channel is awesome btw in the video you mention that people whould say that an argument about why the girls writing is bad, is that it's a harem manga and cause of that the girls don't need to be inportant and for debufin this argument i whould recomend the manga Bokuben (Bokutachi benkyou ga dekinai) that is the bes harem manga that i i've ever read and read a lot of these, Bokuben is a harem were all the characters are well written, have personality, have qualitys and flaws, have a reason to like the main character and are actually friends and support each other. The beginning is kinda bad but is one of my favorites romcoms and I really recommend you check it out if you think that Nisekoi is garbage.
This would require confirmation but ages back I heard that Nisekoi was made after the Mangaka was frustrated over his more interesting and compelling works getting axed(Double Arts for example was actually really good) so he basically said "You know what, screw it. I am gonna make the most generic piece of crap ever and see how that polls". The sad and depressing thing is that, it worked. The title is emblematic of the series itself. False love, for this series was made without love and was just a paycheck.
Double Arts was really cool and brought such a unique concept and even fighting style to the table...only for it to get tossed aside so that Shounen Jump could get its nice low common denominator romcom that it NEEDS to have running at ALL TIMES. it's honestly kind of sad. Ayakashi Triangle just ended so I'm sure we're due for another crappy harem romcom to take its place
@@e.nataliareyeshdez.3557 That's not true, the creator of SPYXFAMILY didn't say he *hated* working on it. Just that he didn't expect for it to be such a hit
you said onodera is (infuriatingly) perfect, but i can think of two things she did wrong 1. she fell in love with raku (awful idea) 2. she thought that fvcking haircut was a good idea (????? what even IS that???)

I suffer from horrible memory due to depression and my neurodivergencies. So yes, this boy NEEDS help, not even us can forget this much stuff going on.
To be fair to main character kun, I have ADHD and the largest detractor in my life is my dogshit memory. It's potentially as bad as his. Though I doubt that ADHD is what the mangaka was going for.
@@hoop6988Ok so this was going to be a short answer onto just how hard it is to explain what working with unreliable memory. So I saw your message with a notification and I flipped to it to read it and put my phone away and COMPLETELY FORGOT which anime this was and it took me another half hour to find the comment. I am in my early 30s and I have found that I rely heavily on my wife for keeping calendars and scheduling because after I am done driving home from a doctor's appointment I already forgot when the next appointment is. @@urextraaverageweirdo6124 But is it a harem?? I mean I’m not coming to a harem and expecting spectacular writing you should know better than that, but like this I doesn’t know what it wants to be it’s all over the place.
I read this manga from start to finish in 9th grade. I heavily disliked it then and still dislike it now but I have no idea why I read it to the end. Just the magic of train wrecks I guess.
hey, i also binge watched SAO back when i was 14, and i also disliked it (maybe i kinda liked season 2, but it wasn't even cuz of kirito, f*ck kirito) but ultimately wanted to know how it ended, we're subjects of fate that seek endings
I feel like something's wrong with the media enjoyment part of my brain because everyone and their mother says "you need to write characters with flaws or no one will relate to them or like them" but Onodera was the only character I actually wanted to succeed and Chitoge was the exact opposite.
The character doesn't always need to be flawed per se, they just need to be compelling enough to warrant the plot having them around. Onodera just feels like waifu bait
Samee I think it's unfair that the author makes Raku and Onodera be in mutual crush from the beginning because that made me want to root for them. Also, the author actually made HER to be the one who made the childhood promise! That's just bull man
while I do get that, Onodera is one of the, what I like to call, "hime" type of girls, basically the perfect waifu, princess types with not much personality. and while that's not a bad thing, they tend to just hang around and not put in much of an effort when it comes to their clearly prefered romance. maybe that's just me though
Making character flawed doesn't mean it's structure will merge well with the protagonist's characteristics and flaws in a way that makes the protagonist less hate-provoking. Toradora(the example of this video) showed us a girl that was literally a b*ch to anyone who dared interact with her bc her family made her feel unwanted and unloved, so she responded by exploding her own anger towards them for making her feel like a nuissance, depressed, and almost to the final straw(near unaliving one self), onto others, even if those people had only good intentions to offer, because she was blinded by her misery and pain, that was constantly bottle-ing away, and did not want to show around others. So she was hot headed, violent, and full of hatred, but her insides were broken, and needed the much love and cherishin for her that she never got. Ryuuji shows a character that felt bad about being around for completely different reasons, but that similarity was their bonding point, showing that, even if she was troubled with mental issues that are always not-openly-adressed by the anime, Ryuuji was able to see it, but also know(by being in the same situacion from another circumstance) that she probably had a softer inside, and that she deserved some *humanity* too, the one that her classmates and her family were clearly not showing, and that soft side is slowly, slowly and slowly, shown to us, like the christmas episode, and in others post fights and such, when she admits that she misses him, that she feel horrible for being mean, that she really loves her food, or that being in some range of time with her trully matters to her; bc they seem like they hate each other bc of Taiga's agressive barriers to her soft inside, so no one will harm her, and Ryuji's reactive responses at times, but that is just a facade, and they both are conscious of it, because they both know each other very well to know they both are more than what they look, what they show, how they react by instinc on tense situations. They make a good couple despite their flawed ways bc the author took the effort to slowly bring them together by the power of good story telling… And That's how you make a flawed character likable: Adding LAYERS, DONKEY, L A Y E R R R S S S You need to make them flawed and interesting, but making them flat one-sided characters, like Chitose, that she's only agressive and tsundere or whatever but literally doesn't have much else going for her despite having 2 flaws bc she lack DEPTH, LAYERS -CLAPS LOUDLY- LA-YEE-ERRRSSSSS You can have any cliche and stereotipical cute monita china anime as Onodera or Chitose as long as you make them profound, and make them have a character progression at some point, for slight as it may be, it will be IMPORTANT for the story is you make it so, and it will matter to the overall character, altering complete ending all the way even, in some cases. One person is not just their flaws, nor their gifts, nor their talents: they are a lot of those things, and Onodera has cero personality as the perfect waifu, and while Chitose has a lot, the manga clearly shows us that they simply don't merge well as a couple with the protagonist, and that is bc the author didn't added anything to have in common with her to add depth and the l a y e rs i keep repeatin, those that the characters needed to actually like each other!!! It's understandable that no one wants Chitose to triumph, bc she doesn't have anything going for her, just like Onodera, but Onodera can be likable bc she's actually, a nice non aggresive person! Who would have thought.
Here's the thing. I was actually rooting for oneodera. I actually either didn't make it far enough for the last 2 girls to be introduced or completely forgot they existed. I hated chitose and her pairing with Rakku due to not finding the whole hitting thing funny and it being overused. Plus I was tired of what I call 1st girl syndrome. Basically the first girl we see will almost always be the winner in the end despite it not always making sense.
Ughh samee I also didn't get that far into the anime. I thought it was just gonna be a love triangle between them and if I have to choose between Chitoge or Onodera, it's definitely Onodera because I can't freaking stand tsunderes in harem anime. And when I got spoiled that he ends up with Chitoge, my interest in the story is completely gone lol
Dude same, I don't like the trope of men being kicked or punched by girls that don't listen to them, and you nailed with the 1st girl syndrome that thing kills the enthusiasm. I can see the appeal of Chitoge, but the moments between Raku and Onodera were sweet. However, as characters go.... Onodera was a coward, she could have won at any point of the story, but she wasn't brave enough, and I get that confessing is hard, but the mangaka didn't do a good job justyfing, the only reason was: I don't wanna ruin what we have, like girl Raku is NICE that's why you love him, you know him don't be afraid. This manga gave me some good moments, but it taught me that I have to critically read sometimes, because there are some things that are not okay in Japanese Romcoms even Western media. After the first season of the anime aired in Winter of 2014 (my God it's been so long) I started reading the manga. However, I noticed a drop in quality after Haru joined, but it wasn't a big deal because not every chapter had to be perfect. The problem was that from like chapter 100 to chapter 175 ish (The Confession from the Oneesan) the manga was stagnated in and cycle of no real progression and for me and many others that followed the manga weekly it was HARD. When the story progressed I was not that invested, and it was SUPER obvious that Chitoge was going to win after she left (Always a Drama Queen) and met Raku's MOTHER.
@@Gemini_Blessed_Boy yeah even if you did find it funny i can't imagine it doesn't get old hearing the say joke for 40 goddamn years. it's so old. Also don't get the point of having a harem if it alway ends up being the first girl we see no matter what. Just make a normal romance then.
Hard same. I read the first fifty or so chapters and quit when it became obvious the author was dead set on forcing the worst pairing. Lo and behold, a hundred and seventy or so chapters later it ends with worst girl winning.
It would have been nice if Raku left the lock with Onodere after finding out she was the one he made the promise to. No need to carry it around anymore when his feelings for her had changed. Then you can prevent people from rioting by having the lock be opened by her, but also show that Raku doesn't care what's in it anymore
So i read the manga before. And i realize how stupid the story is. Like how the MC and Heroine dating cause the their father (the Yakuza boss) afraid of Yakuza clash? Can we get a more rasonable reason? You know.... like both of their father hate each other and they try to prevent a "real" bloodbath. Or their father make an oath to make their son and daughter married. Second, the premise is really absurt, and they treat it really serious. They put too much ridiculous plot twist with expectation that the reader would take it seriously. Im okay with absurt premise. But as long as its self concious for its absurity (specially harem anime). But nope, they treating it like its on the highest stake.
They father actually does this, the two of them arrange their child become fake couple so the gang didnt go all out war, weird thing is both father didnt have any hatred to each other but respect
@@aditghifari5039It’s mostly with the younger members of each gang and the fact the Beshive gang is new to Japan, causing a bit of a culture clash in ideological and ethics on their gangster activities.
Ofc not 😂 tho trans dudes would like him because bros do bros stuff like hanging out together, visiting each other's rooms, exploring each other's bodies--
Me: **hears the first part of the summary** Oh, I bet the girl from the rival gang turns out to have the key, and he has to choose between his heart and his promise, with him coming to like the rival girl pretty easily, making things harder! "There are actually 6 girls who want to get with the main character!" Me: Oh, it's a harem manga. That's a lot more people to work around, but it's probably just extra options for the fans to fantasize about. "Turns out Raku knew all of these girls when he was five!" Me:"....What? How could he have known all of them at five?! If his family is part of the Yakuza, wouldn't he be monitored as a little kid in case of danger, making the options for friends he could make pretty limited, anyway? "Four of them have keys that could go to the lock," Me: WHAT?! "But they can't figure out who has the real key because the lock's jammed or something" Me: WHY??? My main takeaway: This did NOT have to be so OVERCOMPLICATED, it honestly sounds like they made the story worse by trying to make almost all of the girls who like him narratively important besides just being in love with him.
What they should have done is mention that Roku was hit in the head with a hammer repeatedly for several hour when he was young by some gangsters from the rival gang and now has a severe case of memory issues: he forgets what happened in the past and what and who he talked to in the present so for him every day is the beginning of his story! The best part - they wouldn’t even need to rewrite anything else! He already lives as though yesterday never happened!
Plus you could show Chitoge being more kind to Raku after that and showing a hidden caring side, maybe by making him more physically sickly and she has to take care of him more often. Raku takes care of her physically by being more of a homemaker, Chitoge takes care of him mentally and looks after him in a wifey way when he’s unwell because of an injury.
34:05 thank you sir for introducing ToraDora to me. That show was a beautiful masterpiece and i would have never even heard of it if it wasnt for this random spoiler warning/recommendation
"If we reverse the genders so that it was a boy kidnapping her so they could be alone together, would we be okay with that?" Ah, you fortunate soul have clearly never heard of the movie 365 Days :') Also this was amazing! Too many times I have seen Nisekoi chart at the top of lists for best romance anime, this was so cathartic. Also your copyright protection is literally the best thing I have ever seen LOL.
He made a promise to her, she has the most in common with him, and SHE'S THE FRIGGIN GIRL FROM ALL THOSE YEARS AGO....Aaaaaaand he tells her to screw off for the dumb, angry blonde?! **Headdesk**
As a small defense of Raku opening up the locket: I actually kind of like him "facing" his past self and his old desires, laying them to rest one last time by acknowledging them. At that point it wasn't really about what was in the Locket, so much as what they used to represent for him. He could have left it alone just as well, but I like that one last look at what he could have chosen, and opted to move on from despite acknowledging it.
I remember that the only reason i stuck it out with this manga til the end... Is because I wanted to know what happened to Onodera's friend Ruri and Rakku's bestie Shu. Those two had more personality and chemistry than the entire cast, and I think that says a lot. Their ending was pretty nice too. Actually imma reread it. Edit: Just did, it's been years since I read that chapter and I still stand that those two were the best characters.
it sucks that the author basically chains these girls to Raku with the expectation that they will have their love hopes crushed. just let them either confess and then stop with the romance drama and move on/away from him, or introduce other characters that can treat them better then Raku, either more guy characters or hell, have 2 girls hook up after being around each other so much while dealing with the love triangle drama
Harem could work in a comedy settings or that the girls are actualy interesting. You can make the girls generic but you fail once the male lead just dodges or make any remotely interesting chemistry with them to the point the female characters feels as bland as hell. Heck I have this problem with Arifutera where I can tolerate his harem but then the girls outside that group just falls for him. I don't even want to mention how the bestie or that small teacher got mixed in somehow like why? I'm perfecetly fine with the pre existing ones even the mother I'm fine but these two are dont even need to be into MC just like the rest of the cast. Are you telling me not even one attractive guy just ad cool as the MC exist? In a fantasy setting? How?
I'm sorry but if I was a professional hitman and I got called cute by some random boy I would be extremely uncomfortable given I don't like being complimented on my appearance by a guy, and second I am pretty sure a high kill count in real life isn't sexy or cute at all.
The moment when he said that "other characters don't contribute for shit in building up the romance" I knew he was gonna pull out Toradora. I don't like romance anime but Toradora is truly the exception for the quality of everything that surrounds it
Damn, I love your jokes and how much effort you put in your work. Also, I can't imagine how much time you spend on editing. Furthermore, the style and pace you chose to present the subject is perfectly combined 😍 Oh and you make very good points in each of your reviews :)
Thank you so much! Editing is probably the thing I spend the most time on since it's something I'm very passionate about so I really appreciate it getting recognized.
I remember when this mutha ended that the mangaka said he picked the blonde girl because the form blonde girl was more appealing to an audience view or some BS like that is still annoys me to this day cuz it's the stupidest reason ever 😂
If any romance story involves kids making promises when they're 5 year old, run the other way as fast as you can. Why does this trope exist even after all these years?
Genuinely think the manga would have worked better if they axed the romantic rival aspect between Raku and Yui/Seishirou, instead using their characters differently (Yui could have confirmed who the girl he made the promise to was, Seishirou would have been better as a Badass Straight Man to the craziness of the series), completely axe Kosaki completely and instead introduce Haku earlier to fill her role as a Childhood Friend Romance that simply grew apart due to circumstance. Then the main issue would be his feelings between Haku and Chitoge until Marika is introduced to shake up the status quo and actually be a credible threat to the love triangle and force Haku and Chitoge to actually develop as characters and develop more and actually give them more reasons to like Raku more than just the most generic, face level stuff. I also agree with you that they never should have opened the lock, or if they had to I think it would have been better if instead of him opening it then it could have opened by his kid after the time skip (and not even with the key but because after so many years the lock itself just eventually wore out enough that the latch opened) and either never revealing the contents to the audience or the kid taking the contents to Raku and asking about them.
I really enjoy your content, I watched your 'Why Guts is a compelling character' video and decided to click onto this one to see more of your content and I subscribed. One way that you could have the lock not be opened by raku but still be opened, is if he gave it to Onodera and she opened it, because the locket does not matter to him at the end. It's just an idea but one that could give both scenarios for the locket that you mentioned
11:05 How!? Like if my mom made a children’s book, I would definitely have the thing ingrained into my skull as she either would’ve Jade me as the test audience while she was workshopping it or would read it to me any chance she got. Hell i probably would read it just because it’s my parent’s work. But this guy manages to forget so many important details you would think the promise was he owed the girl money and is trying to avoid paying
I watched like the one season of this as an anime all the way back in middle school and thought it was pretty ok at the time and forgot about it. now I’m sad to hear 1. the story is bad 2. onodera got her poor cinnamon roll heart obliterated thank you captain mack very cool (love your stuff)
6:49 I have prosopagnosia that was undiagnosed until my mid-twenties, but this is actually pretty accurate to how my brain sees faces. When trying to recall a face, it's kind of like a slot machine. My brain just slaps on some random features that quickly melt away and then spins again trying to draw them back on. I didn't even realize the ghosts in Bly Manor had no faces until a friend asked me if I thought that was spooky. That being said, as do most people with some deficit, my brain over-compensates in other ways, and I have a steel trap for names. So. I'ma go out on a limb here and say protagonist-kun is just a moron.
Entertaining and confirmation-bias rich video so far. Here's a recommendation on a manga if you've possibly never read it: Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso o Kasaneru. It's a love triangle romance that seems to have been written with "avoiding the usual traps" in mind. There's also something you've probably heard of--The World God Only Knows, which in my opinion handled its harem and "girl who won" well... except the final arc is total garbage and the ending is annoying. Well, Ookami Shounen at least is quite the read. Definite recommend.
24:41 I guess this is the exact reason why I like Haru the most. She has a valid reason to like him. Unfortunately, I knew from the moment she was introduced that she would not be the end girl. Out of six girls, Haru is the most normal one. You can find this type of girl in real life. Her personality even reminds me of the girl I liked in high school.
"Love triangle? Baby, this a straight 'love HEPTAGON'!" Funny. 14:48-15:14 Why does this remind me of Bella from Twilight, and Rey from the sequel trilogy of Star Wars?
This manga/anime feels like its just the author’s wet dream of “oh all the girls like me because im a nice guy, none of them have any real personality traits besides liking me and everything they do is to turn me on” like goddamn someone get this author a girlfriend or something this is just sad. I stopped watching after season 1 of the anime because after watching other rom com animes and seeing how a female character can be compelling and have a personality outside of liking the generic main character, this one just made me mad
I know im being pretty harsh on the author but like how many uninteresting female characters can you write that just love the main character for being “nice” before it just becomes a self insert fanfic that shows how little you actually care about women outside of superficial aspects like their looks
I should also add that while it is a “stupid harem manga” and most people will prolly write off all the bs with that statement, ive seen a lot of stupid harem mangas that still manage to flesh out their characters and give everyone a reason for being there, hell even to love ru had more compelling love interests than this and there were like 50 of them by the end of that godforsaken story 😂 it just comes off as lazy writing at best and a shitty self insert fanfic at worst
Yeah, I kinda hated it the more I read it, but Tsugumi and Ruri kept me going when reading it. Tsugumi (and some of the other girls) deserve better. At least the bonus epilogue was kinda cute.
The main reason is because Tsugumi is kinda funny and she can be a badass when she fights. I also like girls who dress in suits/crossdress. Idk she makes me feel happy. And Ruri because she me fr fr

21:01 Damn, that sounds like a wholesome premise for a different anime. Where despite "love rivalry" both people push each other to grow as individuals. Just made sure it's not always about love but also personal growth and sounds wholesome
Just wanna say: This anime incite the most memorable civil war between the weebs community in Indonesia. and do you wanna know who's the North and South here? it's the 2 main heroines, Chitoge and Onodera. Both sides insults each other's ships and how the character of the opposite side is dumb in some way, one i remember how Team Chitoge bought up at how Onodera could slowly kills Raku with her cookings, that's all i know. Yeah just wanna say that.
You know what sucks about these types of mangas is that they make it clear who the mc is gonna end up with and then they fail to flesh out any other love interests.
The biggest offense this series made was flooding my timelines with some of the ugliest hairstyles I’ve ever seen. One weird anime hairstyle is fine but three of the six girls have monstrosities.
Nisekoi always felt to me like the Black Clover of the shonen trio, aka the manga that start just after some trend just die with their manga trying to appeal to the fan of the other manga while writing what should be considered a parody of the manga in question with how much the author completely miss what made it popular in the first place. Nisekoi feel like the author ripped and crossover Toradora and Golden Times but with the entire story focused on completely and utterly nonsensical arcs. edit: 33:30 damn you see it too. It's not that opposite attract by default, its that opposite can be complementary, and complementary is attractive.
Idk if anyone mentioned but, i like the Copyright Protection Boys. Lol 2:54 I just imagined the stupidest scenario. Guy1: **confused look at the other gang member with no fingers** Wha... Guy1: Why the heck didn't you stop at the first finger? Guy2: I know no fear nor i care for it. Guy1: I wonder what they gonna cut next when you run out of toes. Guy2: **sudden realization** Oh... no...
@@marlom7882 Well not sure how it ended up like this but given that the author's previous work got axed you can probably imagine how he felt when working on this romcom nonsense. The company or the editor perhaps thought this was genius. Harem romcom from past has this sort of quality too Nisekoi just was fortunately wasn't the worst.
@@marlom7882 Yeah it's a big shame I get it's market stuff but I wish there was a balance for creative writing. You should try reading "Dual Arts" there was so much potential but it's axed.
This manga I feel like the main concept of Nisekoi is borrowed heavily from another harem romcom called Love Hina by Ken Akamatsu. It also follows a childhood promise which the main characters somehow forgot. Although there are many key differences like the male protagonist falls in love the female mc pretty quickly and never waivers. Other girls never proclaim their love for him out of nowhere. It happens gradually and he rejected them all. Love Hina is quite good for a harem manga and the art is amazing.
Toradora is one of the original harems. I thought the relationship was ok not great, but I hate how they treated both of their moms in the last few episodes. They were just being good moms and all they got were villianized af by both their kids and the writers for no reason and then got a hollow apology from their kids and never had a satisfying happy ending. Just thrown away after doing the only crime of being hard working mothers and getting metaphorically spat on in return😤😫. But I know they're like really minor characters who don't matter much to the og characters and eventual relationship but ya. It just a pet peeve I only have. The relationship of gentle giant and tiny terror is still mediocre but eh regardless.
Nisekoi would had been so much better as a tighter 16-18 volume story. There is just so much filler and I get that it is a comedy, but the first six volumes are actually really good shit (I mean the story has problems, but the characters are mostly likeable and flawed people) and I legit love the side characters... but, just it really spun it wheels for so long that I lost interest. It's fine, it's not a total tire fire, but it could had been so much better.
Chitoge literally ran away when she found out she wasn't the promise girl and basically every girl confessed before her. Pretty sure the MC already told Chitoge long before she found out that he wouldn't determine it on promises like that so she lacks trust issues which is bad for a relationship. She is even abusive which is literally acknowledged, she can act all tough but she is just a weak girl in the end. This series is one of the worst series, having bad writing all round, there's literally no good characters and an incredible amount of plot convince when it comes to delaying confessions that is beyond any suspension of disbelief. Realistically, essentially no relationship in this series would last cause they lack the most basic aspects of a relationship, honesty and being clear which should be done in a short period of time.
You asked, "do you know what happens when you don't listen to the boss of a Yakuza gang?" And immediately following that hypothetical question my Bluetooth headphones turned off (across the room) and the robot lady voice said, "Good bye." And I was like, yeah, probably something along those lines.

I am gonna make the most generic piece of crap ever and see how that polls". The sad and depressing thing is that, it worked.
The title is emblematic of the series itself. False love, for this series was made without love and was just a paycheck.

The reason he can't remember anything is Chitoge gave him brain damage with all the hitting.
Your the only person Ive seen whose anime portrait's hair looks more real than their actual irl hair.
I feel like something's wrong with the media enjoyment part of my brain because everyone and their mother says "you need to write characters with flaws or no one will relate to them or like them" but Onodera was the only character I actually wanted to succeed and Chitoge was the exact opposite.
Chitoge sucks.
They make a good couple despite their flawed ways bc the author took the effort to slowly bring them together by the power of good story telling…
And
That's how you make a flawed character likable: Adding LAYERS, DONKEY,
L A Y E R R R S S S
You need to make them flawed and interesting, but making them flat one-sided characters, like Chitose, that she's only agressive and tsundere or whatever but literally doesn't have much else going for her despite having 2 flaws bc she lack DEPTH, LAYERS
-CLAPS LOUDLY-
LA-YEE-ERRRSSSSS
You can have any cliche and stereotipical cute monita china anime as Onodera or Chitose as long as you make them profound, and make them have a character progression at some point, for slight as it may be, it will be IMPORTANT for the story is you make it so, and it will matter to the overall character, altering complete ending all the way even, in some cases.
I’ve never seen such creative copyright protection methods. You’re brilliant
Thank you my friend, I'm quite proud of my boys
@@CaptainMackAs you should be
Here's the thing.
Is there like one manga, where win not 1st girl?
So many irl guys have the mindset of “I deserve a girlfriend because I’m nice” and I place the blame of this epidemic solely on bad romance authors
It's such a mess lol

Me: **hears the first part of the summary** Oh, I bet the girl from the rival gang turns out to have the key, and he has to choose between his heart and his promise, with him coming to like the rival girl pretty easily, making things harder!
"There are actually 6 girls who want to get with the main character!"
Me: Oh, it's a harem manga. That's a lot more people to work around, but it's probably just extra options for the fans to fantasize about.
"Turns out Raku knew all of these girls when he was five!"
Me:"....What? How could he have known all of them at five?! If his family is part of the Yakuza, wouldn't he be monitored as a little kid in case of danger, making the options for friends he could make pretty limited, anyway?
"Four of them have keys that could go to the lock,"
Me: WHAT?!
"But they can't figure out who has the real key because the lock's jammed or something"
Me: WHY???
Lmao that would be a great way to explain that characteristic and give the yakuza thing more relevance, great idea

I actually kind of like him "facing" his past self and his old desires, laying them to rest one last time by acknowledging them.

The nice thing is kinda like the "nice guy" mentality.
Where someone should be in a relationship with a person because they were nice to them
If any romance story involves kids making promises when they're 5 year old, run the other way as fast as you can. Why does this trope exist even after all these years?
Ladies, I'm very nice and generous.

My brain just slaps on some random features that quickly melt away and then spins again trying to draw them back on. I didn't even realize the ghosts in Bly Manor had no faces until a friend asked me if I thought that was spooky.

I guess this is the exact reason why I like Haru the most. She has a valid reason to like him. Unfortunately, I knew from the moment she was introduced that she would not be the end girl.

First rule of writing a harem protagonist:make them denser than a black hole
Second rule: have their intelligence be in the single digits
Roku is 6 in Japanese. the guy who has 6 love interests is named 6. what.
Fun fact: Raku and Roku are two different words
This boy has worse memory loss than me💀
Idk if anyone mentioned but, i like the Copyright Protection Boys. Lol
2:54 I just imagined the stupidest scenario.
Guy1: **confused look at the other gang member with no fingers** Wha... What happened with you man?
Guy2: Oh i... ah... Started several unauthorised fights with other gang members. 10 times. The boss said if i keep doing this, they gonna get my toes too.
Guy1: Why the heck didn't you stop at the first finger?
Guy2: I know no fear nor i care for it.
Guy1: I wonder what they gonna cut next when you run out of toes.
Guy2: **sudden realization** Oh... no...
With how badly written this story is it’s a wonder how this was published and went on in shonen jump for so long
Apparently the author didn't really want to write a romance but the company said you gotta. And we got this as a result
@@UniversalControl-13 what kinda bullshit…?
@@marlom7882 Well not sure how it ended up like this but given that the author's previous work got axed you can probably imagine how he felt when working on this romcom nonsense. The company or the editor perhaps thought this was genius. Harem romcom from past has this sort of quality too Nisekoi just was fortunately wasn't the worst.
@@UniversalControl-13 damn that’s such a shame. I hate it when executives get in the way of artistic vision
*Uses sad Berserk music too much*
Fans me included: OH F U CK YEA
the copyright protection boys made me giggle so hard, i love them
Toradora is one of the original harems.
"Toradora is one of the original harems." No i was not dude...
@@JayceCH. Well it's old enough to be sort of original lol. But it still sucks😫
So hitman girl is just a worse version of Naoto. Dear god.
At least Naoto has bindings. From what I gather, the hitman girl doesn't
yes, tsugumi = diet naoto shirogane. also, she is the worst character in nisekoi imo
p.s: finally who said that
This manga could've turned into a psychological horror so quickly and seamlessly tbh
I haven’t read nisekoi but when I saw the title I immediately thought nisekoi
If you want a really dang good romance manga/anime, there's Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Probably already read/watched it because of its popularity, though. But, if you haven't, I absolutely need to hear your thoughts
I have only seen the first season. I really liked it! But at the time the second season was limited to funimation's streaming service and i wasn't paying for that lmao. I do intend to read it at some point but I haven't gotten around to it
@@CaptainMack I'd recommend both reading it and watching it when you get the chance. The anime is just so good, as you can probably tell
Doesn't matter if you read or watch first, just have a good time
I LOVE that manga! Like actually, that shit is FIRE! It does NOT GET BETTER and I have been searching for meaning in life ever since I finished it
