Value for money certainly. Motorway comfort is a great plus. The interior seems a lovely place to spend time and those seats do look good.
Rear passenger space can be a bit of a compromise on this class, the earlier Ford Kugas spring to mind, but this HS does look enormous in the back.
The engine should be a reliable unit and a seven speed automatic sounds very practical indeed.
The Warranty should be a great cushion for anyone scared to try this newish brand in the market.

Very, very spacious, although the boot is a bit smaller than the class average these days. The engine is chain driven from what I remember. The six speed manual is much better than this seven speed automatic... Thank you again, sir!

Very nice car Joseph shame about the auto box being jerky that lets it down otherwise great best regards Andy Allen.

Yes, I think that the manuals are a bit better in that respect, although they aren't necessarily the nicest shifting gearbox.

Sir, I think we may have to call this one a voluntary contingency. This MG seems perfectly acceptable and I'm sure the price-point is appealing to many. It seems to be let down a bit by its driving manners. A car like this would do very well over here - lots of straight line interstate driving with no fuss.

Sir, we had been waiting a long time to drive a facelifted first generation HS, and when we finally did, it wasn't that different from the original version. The driving manners are a bit disappointing, as the rest of the car isn't too bad, apart from some minor irritations I mentioned.

Very nice interior. Looks up to Volkswagen standards from what I can see. Those round air vents are a nice touch. Agree about the colour - very nice.
I think it's a shame that there is no D segment model in the MG line up but that's how the car market is these days. I may need to part with the rose tinted spectacles!

The interior is most certainly Volkswagen/Audi influenced, as we used to mention a lot at the time when I first reviewed the HS models. I may actually be driving a brand new HS next week!

Sir, given that all these SUVs are as tiresome as the next, surely why would anyone pay an extra, especially for something in the same family as something banned by Mr Coleman, when this does the job just as well, but at a lower price with that warranty?

The Kia Sportages are much better cars than these, for example, but then they are much more expensive. The ride and handling of the HS are just a bit disappointing, in my opinion, but most people probably don't care about that.

Let’s see if sport mode makes it any smoother…
Nope…never will, it’s an automated manual.
And 40 something mpg from a plug in hybrid?
    WTF
I’ve done some longer journeys and bumped my average mpg to 57….thats a Honda petrol (E10), no hybrid, no turbo, cvt auto.

It's not an automated manual. It is a dual clutch transmission, hence the DCT in the title, similar to a Volkswagen DSG.

@@lloydvehicleconsultingthat is an automated manual. There’s no torque converter, take up torque converter (as my cvt has), it’s a manual transmission having its gears changed by a computer & moving parts.
You can call it what you want, but it’s the same thing….lots to go wrong and a worse driving experience.

I have driven both automated manuals and twin clutch transmissions. They are actually different and feel different. The automated manuals are absolutely appalling, even worse than the twin clutch transmissions. It doesn't matter, though, let's leave it here as there's lots of other things to talk about in the world that are much more important.
