Me too. Nothing can ever replicate my emotional response to this theme in particular. It is the best overworld theme to any game I've ever played. (Not to mention dungeon themes, and boss themes!)
MidI CloriaN I agree. Gameplay for various early Final Fantasy games can be tedious, especially where it is necessary for level grinding. The beautiful soundtracks made it not only tolerable but also enjoyable
This is glorious my friend. This is without a doubt my all time favorite rendition of the Main Theme of Final Fantasy IV I have ever heard. I mean this is what I was hoping the DS remake version would've sounded like but sadly they only did that in the opening song. I still say that this song is one of the strongest world map themes that Uematsu ever wrote and I think with this instrumentation you help to prove that. This was also my all time favorite song out of the entire soundtrack as a kid and it is still my favorite out of the game to this day. Now excuse me while I get these tears of pure nostalgic joy out of my eyes.
+moogle847 I've heard a lot of other versions, but they all seemed to be either a rushed conversion of the original (e.g., the DS version) or a very well done re-imagination of the original (e.g., Orchestral Game Concert, Celtic Moon, Blake Robinson). I couldn't find a high quality version that remains faithful to the original and evokes the same feeling of adventure that I felt while traversing the overworld map, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad that you think I did the theme justice, especially considering that it's your favorite track from the game. :)
Incredible. You've given a full, modern orchestra to Uematsu's early 16-bit musical piece (1991!), thus enhancing it immensely, while being completely faithful to the spirit of the original. Every element here is spot on and in proper measure. The marching drums, the harp going up and down the scale, the horns, the soaring strings. You really did orchestral justice to one of the greatest overworld themes ever composed.
Seriously brother......this literally brought tears of happiness and nostalgia. I was going through some hard times at home, as a kid while playing Final Fantasy IV on the SNES (II), and this game among FF VI, Chrono Trigger and Actraiser really kept me away from all the negativity. AMAZING cover!
This is still my favorite Final Fantasy song, and this is one of the better versions of it I have heard. I was maybe 13 years old and a friend of mine had somehow got the game but wasn't really into it, so he gave it to me. One of the best gifts ever. I think most people regard FF6 as the best FF game and, while it is excellent, FF4 edges it out for me due to the nostalgia, vibes, and, in no small part, this overworld theme music.
FFIV was my very 1st rpg I played on the SNES when it was called final fantasy 2 back in the days. This is a serious nostalgia punch right in the guts for me. :D
Wow. Goose bumps.. The music from these games is what got me into composing in the first place, and I have to say, from one composer to another, you nailed this.
These Final Fantasy covers show an awesome attention to detail to the master composers original work and rekindle the emotion I think he wanted to derive from each. Amazingly done sir.
When playing these games, my imagination enhances the graphics and game play in my mind to make it feel more real. Just like reading a book. Your covers of the music do this in a way that is almost tangible. What was already great music for conveying the emotion and sense of adventure is now a fully immersive experience that has me feeling like I am only a step away from actually battling monsters just outside Baron castle. Please keep up the great work!
+Michael Alderson I'm glad it was able to inspire your imagination! I always have the original scene from the game in mind when I'm working on these (either the pixely version or my imagined version) and I'm not sure if that makes my arrangements any better, but I think it at least helps me avoid adding things that don't match the feeling that the scene is supposed to have.
I first played this on my iphone and it sounded fantastic. I just recently played it over my computer with it's 5.1 sound system and my goodness. It blew what it sounded like on the phone out of the water. Truly excellent work!
+K. Callaghan Cylke I'm glad you like this one too! I also experience the same nostalgia when I'm making these, but at some point in the 15-20 hours that it takes to make one, the feeling does fade a little.
A good remake not only enhances but also captures the spirit of the original. Your work here does just that. This one can be a 30-minute extended. I would definitely leave it on. A very successful Uematso/Robinson collaboration.
I totally love it. That's the best kind of remixes, still being "only " the original but sounding like something new. There are way too much remixes in which the melody itself isn't audible between a bunch of background effects, or where the melody is changed too much.
This is a powerful cover with a lot of emotion put behind it, while still keeping the feeling of wanderlust that defined the original piece. It makes one feel as if they are embarking on an epic, which is very appropriate for the song. I especially love the slowdown at the end. Keep up the fantastic work!
Oh, I’ll never forget this as my first ever RPG. I remember digging through my dad’s DS game collection, and finding the remake of 4. I remember him telling me “Ah, that one! You wouldn’t like it, there’s a lot of talking.” Oh my god, there was so much more than just talking. It was a story I’d never heard before. Friendship, betrayal, revenge. And this theme, oh this theme, man. It made everything feel so full of wonder, fueling my mind with ideas of where the adventure could take me next. I love this game so much.
+Malcolm Robinson Music Everything you make here is amazing. I thought long and hard about one thing to request from you -- and here it is -- Within The Giant. You could make this truly epic! Cheers man.
Impressive. This is an irresistible song I like. You who sublimated into such a shape and evolved into a wonderful song are wonderful. I want to listening endlessly. I wrote it while translating. I'm sorry if it's a strange sentence.
This was my first truly good RPG. This theme invoked so much of the sense of adventure and peril, but also made you feel as if you were traveling through a world of unspeakable beauty and majesty.
Now I can't die until i hear a FFIV underworld theme remix from you (among other songs from this and other games... so that was just a shameless request). Always happy to see a new remix from you, and this was amazing as always,
+Kiraxio I'm glad you liked it! :) I've already planned out all 15 of the FF4 tracks that I'll do, and I left the underworld theme (a.k.a. Land of Dwarves) off the list because it's so similar to the overworld theme. It's the same issue with Golbez Clad in Darkness and Tower of Zot which have too much overlap for me to do both.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic A strong Uematsu composition from the early 90's + Malcolm Robinson's modern libraries/faithful arrangement = musical perfection.
Where were you like two months ago when I was looking for a suitable version of this song? In all honesty, this is what brought me to your channel, and it's been quite a while since I last felt like I made a real discovery on TH-cam. You're really good, better than most who do remixes. A lot of remixes are flat, or it feels like they're trying to upstage the original work with proverbial bells and whistles. This is a simple, effective enhancement of the original, as it should be, and I'm really impressed with what I've heard from you. Subscribed, and I'll be spreading the word to my friends.
+CranRightia Thanks so much! :) I really appreciate your comment and I totally understand what you're talking about. I actually started making these because I couldn't find many high-quality VGM orchestrations that capture the feeling of the original games. It seems a lot of arrangers and remixers want to put their own spin on a track to showcase their talents, but I personally prefer to stay in the background and let a good composition speak for itself.
+Alex K Thank you! I was originally planning to release the Chrono Trigger main theme first, so I put my upload schedule on hold while my CT cover album was being cleared (I wanted to release the CT main theme on TH-cam and my CT album on Loudr at the same time).
