Fun exploit fact: During the fight with Loyd if you had equipped one of your character with an accessory that prevents one-hit KOs you can have that character turn into a Dragoon and Loyd will waste every turn or every other turn using his Instant Death move on that character, allowing the rest of the party to attack or heal.
Yep, my brother and I exploited this technique. We played the game over at least three (3) times, and once to nearly 100%, getting all the stardust! The one thing we lacked one time was "Dabas' Shiny bag"
@@victorcippitelli2242 The Talisman accessory. You can actually get two before the Loyd fight if you're lucky. One is in the Valley of Corrupted Gravity and one is on the ghost ship inside the chest you have to guess the number combination to. It's easier to get with the PS5 version where you can rewind time infinitely so you have no fear of losing the treasure forever. Another fun exploit fact is after the Loyd fight you can make a detour in the snow plains to reach the old human capital where you can get Rose's Hairpiece and fight a VERY powerful boss with a sword that can insta--kill you. If you got both Talismans and use Rose with the Hairpiece because it ALSO prevents insta-kills, you can go into any future boss fights with no fear of ever getting one shotted ever again.

Love Legend of Dragoon with all my heart. One of my favorite games of all time, flaws and all. Not just the gameplay and story, but the soundtrack, the world, and the time I spent with my best friend grinding through the game over and over again. Please Square, call me! I've spent more than 20 years thinking about every little tweak and change that would make this masterpiece the groundbreaking work of art that it should've been. Thank you for making this content and please, by all means, keep it coming.
fun fact, if you equip an accessory that prevents instadeath you can make the loyd fight much easier as hell use an attack that dose no damage and cant kill you.
After crushing all of your Soul Reaver videos I wind up in your videos section and find you're now covering Legend of Dragoon?! Bless your soul another beautiful series i can't wait to see what you put out!!!
Awesome you return back into Legend of Dragoon analysis :) ! One minor error: it was Lloyd who awakened the Divine Dragon breaking the seal after taking the Dragon Buster who, along with the Dragon Blocking Staff, acted as the lock of the seal, not the dragon awakening because, he wanted to kill the mighty dragon because the legendary king of dragons Lloyd thought could be a wrench in his plans.
Glad your back bro , and merry Christmas, nice video , make world of darkness aka werewolves apocalypse about there history and there werebeast if you like 👍, thank you
Lloyd was LOD version of a nicer Sephiroth. But not one who was driven to madness with a false belief of being an Cetra or delusions of Godhood. Lloyd was played into believing he could make his world a paradise. For all the evil he committed for his greater good he made up for it before dying.
Never did I expect to run into a Character Study of Legend of Dragoon characters. I Remember playing this on a demo disk and then years later my first year in college (2012-2013) I made an emulator to get the chance to play and beat the game in full
OMG I MISS THIS GAME!!! Thanks a lot for doing these lore videos! It was my very first JRPG when I was a kid. I remeber when people got so sad about Aerith's death in FF7 to me it was Lavitz's What a great game, great music, great characters (Rose's the best) . Like everyone said a remake would be great!
I loved Lloyd from LoD. There are several ways to interpret his character, which adds to the complexity and appeal. The one thing I would’ve loved to see is more of his motives - we never learn much about who he is or why he’s motivated to do everything he’s done. We only see a figure that’s taken on the task of regenerating the world and will do anything necessary to accomplish that goal. His saving of Wink illustrated there was more to his character than ego-driven delusions of grandeur, which is further cemented by his sacrifice at the end of the game. But why would Lloyd, specifically, commit to such a bloody burden? If it was purely that their magic was dying, other Winglies didn’t show the same level of concern. What motivated Lloyd to believe what had to be pretty out-there claims from a masked man claiming to be a legendary historical figure, and then go to such extremes to actualize what he believed to be shared goals? There wasn’t a lot of room in the narrative of LoD to go into Lloyd’s character or motives beyond what he shared with the party in the short time he accompanied them to Vellweb, but it’s interesting to speculate. For all the cunning and manipulation he's shown to be capable of, the narrative irony is that he, in the end, was used. Fun fact: when the party crashes the conversation between Lloyd and Lenus at the end of Chapter 2, you’ll notice Lloyd’s posture is rigid until he sees Dart and the party, whereupon his stance relaxes. I always thought that showed he was glad for the interruption!
Oh my goodness, the quality of the LOD videos is increasing. Thanks to the Severed Chains project. I actually went all the path from hating Lloyd after killing Lavitz to respecting his ideals and almost forgiving him. After what he did, he never could be a friend. But in death, he did find his redemption. Everyone gets what he deserves. And Lloyd atoned for his sins.
Hey Strictly, have you seen the Soul Reaver documentary by NoClip? If not, I recommend you check it out, especially the number of auditions that were done by numerous VA heavy weights; no joke, we could have ended up in a timeline where the whole VA cast of Metal Gear Solid could have ended becoming the Soul Reaver cast lol

I would get rid of Shana. Introduce Meru instead. Basically, give everything unique about Shana to Meru. Meru, the Wingly Child of Destiny, and the reason why Rose has never found her. And the reason for why she is the Child of Destiny is because the Dictator of the Winglies was manipulating Wingly DNA that was intended for himself to possess the powers of a God of Destruction. Evil for evil's sake. But the test subject would eventually be given form at some point and befriended Dart while Rose was out trying to find anything out of the ordinary that could be the Child of Destiny she was foretold to stop. When Meru finally grew old enough she decided to leave her village of caretakers and those she had presumed were her parents, actually they were her guardians and had kept her in a child state of innocence until they couldn't, because eventually her powers would grow to a point they couldn't protect her. It was at this point she met Dart and became his friend and continue to grow up in Dart's hometown as another orphan raised by the man Dart would call his master and taught him how to fight. Dart eventually left that village, while Meru stayed. Meru eventually got captured leading to Dart storming the prison to find her. Other changes that would happen is Miranda would appear earlier, about when you encounter Shirley and receive the Silver-White Dragoon. By the way, it is Dart not Meru who is unconscious and Meru has to go out find this cure that turns out to be the Silver-White Dragoon handed down to Miranda who is someone who volunteers to lead your party. This does mean you will have Meru longer in your party before she becomes a Dragoon. More changes is that you can swap characters in your party during a fight. You have dual and triple additions which function similar to the Double and Triple Techs in Chrono Trigger but in regards to the addition system of Legend of Dragoon. Miranda has additions with her bow, although not that many. Rose maintains utility later in the game and Kongol has a means to be useful that takes advantage of his low speed such as his ability to naturally counter if he gets hit. You will have commands instead of guard with guard being a command. So you can do things like counter, distract, rally, ect... that gives bonus or new utilities and choices that can benefit you in battle. You also get more Dragoons with Lloyd being a playable party member and he stays in your party until the very end where he willingly sacrifices himself. Water and Ice are two separate elements with Meru being the Ice Dragoon rather than the Water Dragoon. Damia who really makes no sense being the original water dragoon as this was a fight between Men and Winglies, so how does a Mermaid, a completely separate race fit into any of this? It doesn't. So instead, a different person is the Dragoon of Water and Damia who you pick up when you are supposed to pick up Meru as Meru is introduced earlier in place of Shana becomes your Water Dragoon. "So when does Meru become the Ice Dragoon." At sometime when you are up North. In fact, it is key that when the Divine Dragoon is rampaging the Dragoon Spirit of Ice which was somehow lodged within its teeth and revealed by Rose that the Divine Dragoon ate the previous Ice Dragoon is then given to Meru. So pretty late. But that is not a bad thing because Meru is so formidable with her speed and magic ability that you really don't need her to be a Dragoon for her to remain useful. By the way, ice and fire are opposites, while water and thunder are opposites. So this is FFX logic. You still have wind and Earth, light and Darkness with void or non-elemental being the ninth element. And you don't get Dart as the Divine Dragoon, but you do have Lloyd as the Divine Dragoon.

Only thing I dont like about Lloyd.. is his name.. I would always associate this name with dumb and dumber hence the intimidating factor always loses its charm 🤣🤣
I think the thing is we are told how cunning Lloyd is, we never actually see it. Someone walking around hooded and mysterious practically isn't going to gain anyone's trust, it's just an old trope of hiding who is clearly going to be a villain later. He also avoids the consequences of his actions, admittedly to me an irritating trope in itself. Evil people are capable of good deeds. An evil act is an action and you can be judged on that act and his are multiple. Lloyd endangered and took lives through his methods and Dart isn't the one to decide for those effected., but he avoids repercussions by sacrificing himself. I think it's made worse for the fact the game does the exact same thing with Rose. No one answers for their crimes except the big bad, which is hardly in the game. I'm not trying to be harsh on the game, it's just the execution of the story wasn't strong and you can tell where it was unfortunately influenced by FFVII. It's not the only game guilty of that form the time.
I agree with you except the last part where you said influenced by FF7. Many players unfortunately downgrade Legend of Dragoon for being FF7 copycat because of the game being released in 2000.
