This my 30th and final Chrono Trigger orchestration. It was a pleasure to work on this project over the past few years. I'm really grateful for all the support that I've received since starting my TH-cam channel and I look forward to producing more content for you guys this year.
I wish I could cover Super Metroid, but Nintendo-owned franchises are almost impossible to license for cover albums. Until that changes, I'll be sticking with Square-Enix's soundtracks.
Vegeeta/Magus: I don't understand. How can you be semi perfect. Your either all perfect or you're ot me. Semi-Perfect Cell/Lavos: oh you think you're cute Vegeeta/Magus: B!tch I'm adorable.
My 12 year old daughter is playing through chrono trigger - we played it together when she was about 6, and she decided to start trying some games on her own this summer. She's (again) in love with the music - I am so excited to share Malcolm's music with her when she finishes the game!
You're lucky, I have two girls who show no interest in RPGs at all. I have a two year old son that I hope, one day, I can share the classics with, and hopefully he'll appreciate the music as much as we all do, which is truly some of my favorite ever.
I love how this song blends Lavos’s theme and Chrono/your team’s. The organ is still there, though not as loud and up front as in Lavos’s theme, so it doesn’t overpower the underlying melodies. Then the brass picks up with the triumphant hero’s theme, before switching back to Lavos. Then at 1:21 it switches between strings for the Main Theme and the off brass and strings for Lavos’s theme. It’s an epic battle between each side, even the song reflects it, and you have the mode of the song change so week with each instrument’s style. Meanwhile the underlying, quick moving melody reflects how you’re constantly switching through time. So awesome. I’m glad that you chose this as your last orchestration.
My favorite song in the whole game/soundtrack. Really makes you feel the weight of what you’re doing once you find what lies at the heart of what you called “Lavos” and what it had done to cultivate all life just to consume it.
I screamed all around my house at this notification from the heavens ! I had been expecting this remix for months and months - it was bound to come. And it's finally here ! Thank you, Malcolm, thank you once again for your skill and dedication - and thank you for finally making this happen.
Dude you've never disappointed and this is THE best cover of this track, from Square's Dream Project in the 90's. Thank you for this and your work on these covers!
What I love about this boss theme is it has both the themes of the villain, and hero, so it's not just a boss theme, but it's about the heroes, as well.
The title is fitting if you think about it. As the planet in as it was dying its "life" flashed bovore its eyes and it opened the gates in an desperate attempt to save it self and summoned Crono and his friend, the greatest heroes that ever existed. They are the embodyment of the planet throwing everything it has at Lavos to rid it self from the parasite that is tormenting it. "The world is revolting/world revotution" But I'm not a good with analysis so maybe I'm overthinking this.
That's a good analogy, like the body's immune system fighting back. In fact, the mentions it a few times were they believe an "entity" is determining their destiny.
Was the planet acting like a conscient being in the mind of its life forms trying to find a solution to prevent his destiny of demise? (Flah back to marle saying "I refuse to believe the world ends like this") 3 individual from year 1000 learned the world would be destroyed 999 years in the future, long after they and all their beloved ones perish but they don't selfishly think only of their lives, they want to make sure the future is still a nice place to live. Just like them all party members are people (and a robot) whose present is not the moment the world ends. But they decided to prepare themselves and travel to different eras in search for a solution as the single ray of hope of the World saying "no" to it's death
played this game when i was 6 or 7, back in the day when it released for SNES. First game i played and beat by myself. The soundtrack has such a special place in my heart. Even though age and time has dulled my emotions and sense of novelty, this music takes me back to being a child full of awe and fear and determination. Thank you for your works
Yes! It's finally been released! :D Malcolm, thank you for time and effort into making these awesome covers of Chrono Trigger music over the years! I've listen to practically every single song cover in the Playlist for Chrono Trigger and some other songs outside the games that present in your channel! With the release of World Revolution, you did not disappoint! Once again, thank you for your time in making these covers and best of luck to your future projects, I look forward to it!
Thanks you very much Malcolm!!! Your orchestration are the best. Chrono trigger was endearing to me during my childhood/adolescence and your arrangements throw me back to memories and gives me chills. Cheers from Mexico, and thank you again!!!
I don't know, and won't ever know, if you will read this comment but I will do it anyway. You're the only one, with Yasunori Mitsuda, who were able to catch exactly the right feeling of the song and make me fell (in a way) that there song are ameliorated and created for a remake ! Thanks for all the memories you brought back, keep up the good work ! Ps: I'm also a music producer (btw just a amateur), but I can imagine the times you spent on this and it's crazy...
Got this game in 2016 on the DS and I’ve not found a single game that tops it. It’s the best game of all time. The music, the story, the characters and the environments are incredible.
How about Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story or Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling? They may not be as good as Chrono Trigger, but they sure as hell were something.
Man oh man oh man! I've been lurking your channel for the last few weeks listening to some of your old arrangements, and now you bring us this! Thank you thank you thank you! :)
I thought TH-cam was pulling my leg for a second. Welcome back! Thanks for another fantastic submission from Chrono Trigger! Here's hoping someday you have a change of heart and make a Volume 3. There is more than enough source material worthy of the Malcolm Robinson treatment waiting in the wings. No one does it quite like you.
Thank you! I've actually been thinking about making a Volume 3, but it's a tough call since I've already covered all my favorite music from the game. If I do it, it'll probably be after I finish making a Chrono Cross album.
The only must haves I can think of that are missing are The Hidden Truth, People Who Threw Away the Will to Live, and Underground Sewer. Maybe Lucca's Theme or the Gato song. For some reason I thought Underground Sewer was already in the playlist. Those are just ideas for if you take an interest in revisiting CT down the road but there are probably quite a few more too that slip my mind. Until such a time comes, I'm looking forward to what you can do with Chrono Cross. Thanks again, though. Your dedication to faithful reproduction ascends the soundtrack several tiers.
You are aware that Man on the Internet used this orchestral mix for his World Revolution song of Chrono Trigger the Musical? It’s what brought me here :3
Congrats on the release of the 2 volume collection of your Chrono Trigger arrangements! They’re amazing and deserves praise! Looking forward to your work again this year!

I thought, "pff, probably just a glitch or something...right?" After not having checked in roughly a month, I clicked. ... "5 hours ago!?!?!" Honestly, your long-awaited cover is exactly what this song would have sounded like were it released in this age. It's on-point in every way: the organ, the synth-sounding thing in the background, the tappy sounds (if you couldn't tell, I have essentially no musical knowledge). I bet Mitsuda'd be proud! All in all, it was well worth the wait. Thank you, Mr. Robinson.
Thanks for the comment! One of my goals when I cover a track is to make it sound like it could be used in a remake of the game, so I'm glad to hear that from you.
So much thanks for all your effort bringing us one of the best arrangement ccolections. You do more than just justice to the tracks, you give them all a new, incredible sound. Which is just amazing Amazing remixes, to go with an amazing game. Excellent work, and thank you for the awesome melodies
Superb and phenomenal work on World Revolution, one of Chrono Trigger's most impressive tracks. Hope everything has been going well with you. I was starting to worry you'd fallen ill or something.
Thanks! Everything's been going well with me. I spent the past year focusing on other things and I lost track of my TH-cam channel, but I'm back now for good.

Thanks for making music the way you do. I absolutely love it. If I subscribed to channels I would subscribe to yours. Keep up the good work!
I would really love to cover more CT music, though for some reason I'm not too excited about covering Robo's theme. Maybe it's because it sounds so much like Never Gonna Give You Up. I think it's highly likely that I'll cover some additional tracks from the game, but just not anytime soon. Guardia Millennial Fair is the track I'm most interested in.

I don't think there is a better example of "dueling soundtracks" than this song in gaming history.
See, that's the best part of time travel; to us, malcolm has been gone for months, whereas to him it was but a mere moment
Why do I hear Thanos' voice when I read this??
I love how this song blends Lavos’s theme and Chrono/your team’s. The organ is still there, though not as loud and up front as in Lavos’s theme, so it doesn’t overpower the underlying melodies. I really never noticed that until I read your comment. Great catch!
It is so hard for folks to nail the "dueling themes," and you've done so wonderfully.
My favorite song in the whole game/soundtrack. Really makes you feel the weight of what you’re doing once you find what lies at the heart of what you called “Lavos” and what it had done to cultivate all life just to consume it.

Oh, yes. I have listened to over 15 diferent covers and mixes, and this is the best.
0:36 is my favorite part for some reason. Probably just because it sounds so heroic.
Yea the brass man it hits hard!!!!!
Absolutely the best part
Mine too, and it kind of blends Lavos’ and Chronos’ theme and has some of the fastest pace in the whole soundtrack.
HE DID IT! THE MAD LAD DID IT!
