Imagine if the people at White Star Line were told that over a century later, people would be interested in every little nook and cranny of their beautiful ships they built at the time.

    11:38 photo made me think....
110 Years Ago: A perspective of Age.....If an old man was 100 years old today, he would've been born in 1922, a whole decade after the Titanic sank! His parents would have been born 125 years ago around 1897 for them to have wed in their early 20's to have a baby a year or so later. They would have died in the late 1980s as a very old couple.
The Titanic slowly succumbs to rust and evidence shows that she is now deteriorating at an accelerated degree. It is superb that this highly detailed simulation is being produced, otherwise, we would only have old photos to remind us of this once majestic and now very enigmatic ship. Phenomenal work THG Team, you have our appreciation and we look forward to its release, so many can (albeit virtually) walk her decks and relax their eyes in those sumptuous 1st class rooms....although I might spend my immediate time in steerage for added realism!😉

Absolutely fascinating! Thank you for outlining the INTENSE amount of research that went into creating TH&G & the deck plans. I had no idea that this much effort was committed to your development effort & it certainly speaks to the veracity of the details as you've presented them to date. Your recognition that the data is fluid & may continue to evolve over time & be reflected in your ongoing work product is also extremely reassuring from a historical context. I wish you would give some consideration to including BOTH sides of the exterior hull (plus stern & bow views) in your plan sets so that we can FINALLY have a correct presentation (at least as is humanly possible) of the portholes (sizes, types & locations), coal doors, discharge pipes, & rivets (locations & types) as well. A detailed rigging diagram would really be the icing on the cake!!!

It’s a shame none of the a la carte Restaurant staff survived (the cooks and waiters), because if they did then you could’ve gone back to their testimony for some of the materials on the Galley. If I remember right, the only three survivors from Gatti’s restaurant staff were Paul Mauge and two lady cashiers. They were more involved with the bookkeeping and so they were not as familiar as the food handlers were.

One suggestion I would have for the digital plans is to include the Deck letter in the filename. Most of us navigate around the ship using these letters rather than Shelter Deck, Saloon Deck etc so I prefer to see something like Shelter C Deck - Linen.jpg rather than Shelter Deck - Linen.jpg. I personally find it much easier to find the deck plan I want if the letter is included.

"C" has some dashed lines running from B to C. I assume they represent some type of hidden structure. Wondering if there is any way to know if they are hidden in the ceiling or in the floor? With the dining room I would say look for the path of least resistance, like what would be the easiest way for passengers to transverse the room without colliding into each other to and from their cabins and use that as your base, as the ship was on its maiden voyage, which meant that someone probably had an idea of how well it would work, only for passengers, waiters and people to move it around based on what actually worked.
after all just because an engineer said this goes here, doesnt mean it stayed there, so I would work from what the nearest deck plan to what it was after the ship got fitted and then work things around to work from the direction of the cabins and the people coming and going.
maybe even seeing how maybe a certain cheff that worked on the olympic had things set up there that maybe got transfered to the titanic, as their must have been someone on the white star line that got transfered from that ship to the titanic that maybe brought some of his knowledge of the ship with him to help with what was essentially the ships shakedown cruise
also dont forget the evacuation codes that would come from the titanic disaster would mean that the paths between the areas would be further cleared to help in the event of an emergency, so the plans after the disaster should be discounted from the design given they would be influenced by that
and not how it was, after all the britannic, a hospital ship managed to get the same amount of people that were lost on the titanic OFF of it in half the time with only 22 souls lost
and it was a hospital ship, those people werent exactly in the best condition to begin with so you can bet that the design plans must have been extremely optimized to pull off such a thing in addition to the new lifeboat systems that were put in place
like its truly incredible to think that the ship with its back literally broken by a mine was able to evacuate that amount of people so quickly.
and to think it took the hit for the lusitania's sister that was supposed to be working that path that day, not the britanic
as from what I understand hospital ships were off limits, yet the lusitania's sister was carrying munitoons so it wasnt, and I think they made a mistake and got the wrong ship sadly.

@@DerpyPossum it was something historic travels brought up on his series on the britannic where he mentioned the ships using that travel route, the britannic was taking the line ment for the Mauretania which was carrying supplies and munitions
which means the britannic took a bullet ment for another ship, as they were not allowed to sink hospital ships, only ships carrying goods and munitions.
as it sounded like two ships were hospital, the Britannic and something else, and the others were goods and munitions, the Mauretania and someone else. and like they switched routes that day given some problem with the ship

    • @DerpyPossum
      @DerpyPossum 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kavinskysmith4094 i think there’s some confusion going on here.
the Mauretania never intended to go Britannic’s route. it was the AQUITANIA that was intended to go Britannic’s route. it was receiving minor repairs after a storm, so Britannic was sent in her stead.
and i think the note of Mauretania carrying munitions is confused with the LUSITANIA, which was carrying munitions as a passenger liner the year prior.
if i remember correctly, Mauretania was acting as a troop ship at the time of Britannic’s sinking. could be wrong, but still.

Using a computer to do your work.. would be invalid here. The point of the computer in your brain is to learn. Not to let a device decide.
Also.. when the most knowledgeable people are available to speak to about the subject... they are more valueable than some... computer.
This isnt google.. and suggestions only aggravate someone when they know what they want and have to use their brain to sort it out. --- Better to have your brain work out a solution instead of... just knowing where to find it (as we have rewired our brains)

Would you guys mind if I use your deck plans to help create an interior on my Titanic I built-in in Minecraft? I would definitely give you guys credit for the deck plans, considering how much heart and soul you put into them.

Can we just meet in the stairwell like normal
I'm running a titanic grief project from the view of the ship, working with Japan, please be considerate that when you criticise the ship you're currently criticising me. It's quite a fun persona though. "STTOOOOPPPPP TOUCHING MEEEEEEEEEE" etc.
Also...we're still on English passengers. There's so many mysteries to uncover. Like what post was on the Royal Mail Steamer heading for the world Peace symposium that never made it prior to world war 1 breaking out. Dun...dunnnn...dunnnnnnnn!!!!!
And who was the last person to send a telegram to the ship as it sank? You know England, at least one person tried.

    • @DerpyPossum
      @DerpyPossum 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      MGY (Titanic) to Cape Race
      to
      George Simund, New York
“Weather Delightful, Feeling Fine. Hope All-“
(message interrupted by Capt. Smith requesting the distress signals to be sent)
i’m unsure atm which passenger sent this final commercial telegram, however.

@@DerpyPossum That is incredibly timely. I'm going to start digging into the ones that tried to send but we're never received. It's going to take a lot of investigative work though. I also need to talk to people about Steads auto writing skill. Normally auto writing has people tapped into your psyche who write your death scene. I'm not sure how he would have felt to know the ghosts he was writing about were people in his proximity and not dead people. I want to locate his issues of Borderlands too. It was discontinued for being twaddle.
