We learned a lot in our time with the Blazer EV, and while it has its positives, we aren’t sad to see it go. Would you consider a Blazer EV now that most of its issues are fixed? Let us know!
I purchased the RS RWD a few months ago, and I’ve really enjoyed driving it. So far, I haven’t encountered any issues. As for the sound system, mine is equipped with Bose, and the sound quality is excellent.
When a car manufacture offers to buy your car back without even asking you should probably let them. They have clearly found a problem that might lead to lawsuits.
yeah and they could've finished the test with a properly working car to get a better idea of what the experience was like. The car was doomed in terms of their opinion after the first few months, they seemed to want to drive its reputation fully into the ground by not accepting the buyback
@@Jay-bw3fl the question is why- in the video he says they wanted to show the public the "real" experience by not taking the offer. A private owner would've taken the offer.
I purchased the Blazer EV RS AWD in June. It has been a pleasure to drive. I do suggest that Chevy updates the later releases with faster DC Charging and a bigger battery pack on the AWD model for people who want to take road trips. I love the smooth comfortable ride and it is quick enough, even though I know there are other EV with way faster acceleration. I have seen a few glitches with the crash sensor and the screen going out, but that seems to have been fixed with the last update a few months ago. All in all, the only thing I would have done differently would have been to lease it, instead of buying it.
I don't think they are biased against the vehicle, from my short years of adulthood I've learned most new vehicle platforms have issues. Electric vehicles are no different. This is wishful thinking, gm fixes the quirks out for the second third year models.
the stop sale led to software update that fixed most of the issues for most people. Dont know what is wrong with their car. Maybe they dont have competent dealer.
Traded our 2022 Mach-e Select for a leased Blazer. Software issues in the Ford were worse, and after 2 years none of them had been fixed and OTAs stopped. The Ford started confusing remaing range with distance to next charger - car just freaks out saying you can't go anywhere. At least the Chevy will recognize compatible Superchargers and add them to your route.
Have it for hardly 6 months and ours has been in the shop 4 times for "high voltage battery" errors with different issues including a full battery replacement after getting bricked the first time. A certain % of vehicles on Ultium platform (Lyriq, Prologue)are plagued with similar issues.
It's been awesome. Couple of glitches, front wipers quit, and went out both things at different times, both went away with shutdown and restart. I LOVE this SUV!!! 2024 BLAZER EV LT
4 months and 16,000 kms on my '24 RS AWD and no issues aside from needing to replace the charger that came with it. Bought my own, still waiting for all 3 pieces to come in for the new one. I DID however turn off front collision as it would occasionally slam the brakes on me as I was coasting down the road. Luckily there was no car behind me but it sure wrenched my back and neck. And I also shut off the rear braking too so it wouldn't slam on the brakes when I backed out of my garage. - Adaptive cruise is a bit too sensitive, as it will sometimes suddenly slow down for a second when a car going the opposite direction goes by you in the next lane. Happens a lot at night time and especially if it's raining. And on corners too when you meet another car. - Definitely needs a better stereo but I can live with it, not much of an audiophile - I don't miss Apple or Android but I would like satellite view on either Google Maps or Waze. And no, it's not available on Google Maps in the car version. Not a problem, just on my wishlist. - My biggest peeve: Placement of the rearview mirror camera! They put it down in the middle next to the backup camera so it immediately gets dirty or snow covered making your rear mirror useless. Plus when in the drive through all you see of the car (or truck) behind you is their grill and headlights. Move it up to the top of the glass! Aside from those issues I love the car, it has a much nicer suspension than the Equinox EV, and I don't get uncomfortable during long trips. No problems yet, hopefully never!
I got mine after the stop sale and the only problem I had was a bad tail light which they replaced free! But then the insane flipper door over the charge port quit, which everyone expected, and I had to park the car while I waited for the part! I have tried shutting off safety to stop the insane beeping but some still remain and the brakes jam on when backing on loose gravel and twice while backing out of my garage! I love the car but there are too many cute things and I loved driving my Ram P.U. When the charge port was blocked so I could enjoy Apple CarPlay! Chevy must go back to building regular cars instead of gimmicks!
Have test driven several EVs and the Blazer EV is my favorite. Did not purchase as want a bit more elevated seating position, and perhaps it's good I didn't. But a friend has owned the related Cadillac Lyriq for several months with almost no issues except for weak air conditioning, which is supposedly being improved for 2025.
We went with the Blazer in July because of the weak AC in the Lyriq (Apple Valley, CA); our backs were damp after the test drive, and we had the seat cooling on and tried EVERY adjustment for the AC.
I have a Cadillac Lyric with Apple CarPlay. The GM new in-car google system is decent. I have not had any issue so far. If I have any in the future, I will post here. I also don't use CarPlay much. When using the in-car google map to navigate to a charging station, the car will precondition the battery for fast charging.
@ my issue is the subscription based motives. I’m not paying for something that my phone already has and other cars offer. GM has been ahead of their time pushing subscriptions with the stupid north star bs for decades. It’s not surprising they’re the first to try to force everyone into more
@Jay-bw3fl yeah, except Android auto isn't that great either. The lexus my father has uses wireless aa, yet it doesn't connect automatically like it's supposed to. Since the damn chevy uses an Android based system anyway, i lose nothing by not having Android auto in the car. At all. And it's free until you have to give the lease up anyway, so what does any one care really?
Woww very sad that the Blazer had that many problems. I almost got one, but for some reason the dealership couldn't deliver it. So I took it as a bad sing and I passed. I got instead the Equinox EV, and so far so good no problems at all, and I hope to stay that way. Nice review.
I've had my RS rwd for three weeks. Wi far its been nearly flawless. The only two issues ive had is it randomly braking because of anticipated collisions and losing audio in the infotaiment. I turned off the automatic braking, but hopefully GM can fix that because its very jarring when the vehicle slams on the brakes for no reason.
I still don't understand how the range can be regularly over 300 miles on a charge. Even with efficiency numbers in the low 3 mi/kWh that doesn't add up with the battery capacity. Heck I believe real world (Midwest) efficiency of the Blazer is more like 2.6-2.8mi/kWh unless it's purely city. Leaving out the real world DCFC performance in this video is a miss too.
Being the first person in Maine to lease or buy one in March, shortly after the stop sale was lifted and the system was updated, I have to say, overall, it's not a bad experience. I went from a 2019 Volt Premiere to the RS edition Blazer EV and while at first, I hated it because it was SO big, I got used to it rather quickly. Yup, no Apple CarPlay is a nightmare at times. Why Chevy Why???? Give us the option! I've learned to live with Google and it works fairly well. Sometimes though, it can't run commands because AT&T service around my home is spotty at best. Why did they switch Onstar from T-Mobile? The overall ride is superb though. Smooth and amazingly quiet. The backing up and the system doing a hard brake when there's nobody behind me - yeah, that's happened a few times at a parking lot at my favorite Chinese restaurant. Why? Plus the system sometimes thinks I am going to slam into another car when I'm not so the big flashy red alert comes up on the HUD and the seat vibrates. I've learned to ignore it. The noise maker - yup, it's loud. So much so that with the windows closed, you can still hear it inside the cabin. My neighbors can hear it almost a block away! Everyone knows when I'm coming home. The seats - SUPER comfy! I'm 6'5" and a hefty dude and those have gotta be one of the comfiest seats in a car that I've ever sat in. I could do a long trip without any back or butt issues. Range - I haven't had to go on a long trip where I needed to charge on the go, but i have to say, it has some good mileage. Overall, I'm happy with it. I wish it had a better sound system. It kind of sucks. Especially coming from the Bose from the Volt. This thing sounded like a tinny AM radio. Such a disappointment for a flagship EV. Do better please!
Just got one from the same dealer as Edmunds. Agree on the safety system (but at least I can turn it off) and the car sound at low speeds is so dumb. The way they optioned this car is weird. Supercruise should be standard. And you have to get the cheaper trim to get a sunroof. Makes no sense. But I'm loving the car regardless. Agree on all points about the ride quality. It drives way better and faster than it should for its "powertrain". And I really, really like the Google system. The charging integration is second only to Tesla. Speaking of, having the ability to use Tesla superchargers is awesome. I would never pay $60k for it but you don't have to. They're discounting them so much, I'm leasing mine for less than I'd pay for an Equinox. It's significantly cheaper right now than the Ioniq 5, EV6, or Mach E. That's a no-brainer.
I thought about buying an EV this past summer but decided against it because I live in rural east Tennessee and places to charge are few so I decided to put it off 3 to 4 years and let the infrastructure grow and also to let the development of EV's progress to the point where they are reliable and cheaper so I ended up buying a new truck for $32,000. I want an EV SUV or Truck but the problems with the EV Blazer and other EV's is the reason I backed off! EV are not ready for prime time!
If you can charge at home, infrastructure is almost a non-issue. Unless you want to road trip often. That said, it's always good to wait until you're more comfortable. But for me, I have charging at work, so the EV experience is amazing.
This seems like one of those cars where it’s awesome to drive, but a nightmare to live and deal with. It really goes to show that reliability and livability isn’t just engine and drivetrain issues, but also electrical and software issues now.
I almost bought this car, backed out after seeing the comparison video. I still think this would have been my ideal car. I settled for a mach E because I don't like Elon. But the mach E feels like a compact sedan compared to the blazer EV. If they thoroughly fix the issues and add supercruise and carplay i will get it.
Why keep it for only 8,000 miles? Car and driver does long term tests with 40,000 miles. Now THATS a true long term test. This doesn’t even cover a year of driving for the average American.
If you saw the full video, you would know that it spent months in shop getting fixed. Also, with all its problems, I bet people just didn't want to drive it and risk getting stuck with no screens or haywire emergency safety controls activating.
Got my Blazer EV RS in October. It's had some infotainment quirks, but I enjoy it a lot more than my VW ID.4. The lease special made it difficult to pass up also--$5,600 one-pay lease for 24 months.
Some of your complaints are valid but just don't matter to me. I don't want apple car play or supercruise so while its true it doesn't have these as standard, this also bugs me not at all. Don't want to jinx it but I've had the car for 1500 miles and 6 weeks and not one of your issues has shown up. Maybe they worked out the bugs?
they cant conceive of anyone not caring about carplay, during the video he said its a feature that "everyone" wants. I guess Android users are irrelevant in spite of being half of phone users. And even some apple users arent wed to carplay
Some of these comments crack me up all I’ve had my car now I’ve only got 1500 miles and I’ve had no problems you shouldn’t have any problems at 1500 miles you really shouldn’t have problems at 15,000 miles I mean I’ve had Toyota’s but I had very little problems with him 300,000 miles. The TVs are not quite perfected and they probably won’t because you’re gonna be constantly updated software I’m not buying one probably ever because of my age but they sure do seem to be plagued with issues not just GM products all of them.
