  • The attorney of the man identified by investigators as the operator of the boat that hit and killed Ella Riley Adler in Biscayne Bay over the weekend spoke out Wednesday, saying her client is devastated.
Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables, is named as the boater in a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission incident report on the Saturday afternoon crash that killed the 15-year-old.
"This is the worst possible tragedy that anyone could imagine," attorney Lauren Field Krasnoff said.

Why aren't we hearing anything about the driver of the boat that the girl was being towed by? He or she has a big stake in this accident. Towing kids on boards in a high traffic area in choppy water and, as reported, using a boat that is not normal for pulling skiers or wake boards.

This accident happened inside a very busy navigational channel where there are dozens of large boats speeding by creating allot of wake and waves. It is very difficult to see a coconut sized head in the waves especially if a boat is on plane. News media is disingenuous.. Calling it a hit and run for the general public that doesn't understand boating. It's hit and run, if you have knowledge that you hit something. The headline should be Terrible Boating Accident. I guess if it bleeds it leads. BY the way there is still the possibility it wasn't even his boat.
That color, on one of the most sold boats (Boston Whaler) is a stock color. I'm sure there were a few more machining that description in that area.

All parties involved in this GROSS NEGLIGENCE should be taken to task. The driver & passengers of the boat pulling the victim - why didn't you raise that red flag that indicates to other boaters there is a person in the water? What exactly was the driver of the boat who killed the victim doing? PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!!! As an experienced mariner, I am still horrified at just how many idiots are out there!! Same thing with automobile drivers--IF YOU CAN'T PARK THE VEHICLE, YOU SURE AS HECK CAN'T DRIVE IT!

So there were 13 people on that boat, which IMO is WAY to many for that boat I bet, and NONE of them had their phone out videoing?

Could they have thought phones are too expensive?

He knew 100%. For days authorities were asking public's help with descriptions that exactly matched his boat. He also knew where the girl was hit so he knew he was boating in the same area at the same time. Yet he never turned himself in and played dumb until he got caught. Now he's playing the old and feeble card for sympathy.

Wow when I first saw the lead in photo, not knowing it was his attorney yet, I though it was Ella's mother, looks like her.

The only way he would not know is if she was just below the surface
