Great overview of the process of skiving, and of the machine. I was glad to see that the chrome leather wasn't distorted or stretched going through the skiver, as happens with a manual skiver, so this review confirms that this is the type of skiver that I need. Well done, and thank you!
Great overview. Your description was very methodical and easy to understand. Camera work was good.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you, my friend!
Your online shop is amazing....the leather is beautiful...I just placed an order from Spain. Thanks for all these excellent videos.
Thank you very much!
Finally a review on the techsew skiver. I’ve been on the fence on which machine to buy. This one looks good. And gotta ask you where you got your glasses, cause I have been looking for square frames like that for a while now with no luck.
hahah! I think I got those ones from zenni optical online!
I have bought one and let me say you will be impressed it will skive the leather like a Lazer it's built like a brick you know what we'll worth it I'm surprised it's not 2500 $
@@oaleathersupply I bought from zenni once. cheap, the same Canadian shops sell 6-10 times more.
Just ordered ours today! You made the decision far easier. In fact you sold us on the machine.

Thank you!!
I’d love to see a video on your story; how you got into this...and the photography on your site and this channel is excellent.
Thank you! I love that idea! A bit of my story is on my site :)
I really appreciate this video. I too was on the fence.....decision made! Ordering one!
Great video and how thin can that skiver thin out leather? Can it reach 0.4mm thickness?
Yes, absolutely
@@oaleathersupply Great, thank you
Can you do a video on a 1460 explaining presserfoot tension and such
Have you tried the roller foot?
Would it reduce the chance of marking the top side?
That acrylic cover requires a hinge for installation. The cover is meant to be flipped up when access is needed.
That machine is beautiful!!
Is this machine made in China or the USA? I need one, but expensive. Japanese Nippy is compact, but more expensive
Really nice video.
thanks for great video. I was needd it
Glad it was helpful!
Any thoughts on the model w/vacuum suction? I'm sure the it's helpful to have, but I could really use the addtl. $900 towards another machine. Any work around?
I don't use it, but I know some that do! So it's really just up to personal preference! :)
Organized my delivery today, I’m so excited! Do you know if there is a way to get a beveled skive with this machine?
He mentioned that it was possible (with a lever) in the beginning part of the video. But I don't remember him showing it.
Dang dude the quality has jumped man thats crazy. one day ill own that haha
Thank you my friend!! :)
I did enjoy the video, except that I didn't hear you mention anything about price range
Thank you! I usually don't mention the price ranges because the prices can be subject to change. But here is the link for you: www.oaleathersupply.com/products/techsew-sk-4-leather-skiving-machine?_pos=1&_sid=cec972ffa&_ss=r
how does this compare to a Consew, Highland, thore, cowboy, tandy? so so many. are they all Chinese?
I haven't had experience with the others, but I can say I am very, very pleased with the Techsew Skiver.
where did you get yours from@@oaleathersupply
It looks as though the machine creates a groove on the top side of the leather from the piece that presses the material down. Is there a way to avoid this?
You can adjust the pressure on the leather or alternatively you could also place a thin material around the arm to prevent this. I believe with time it will smooth out a lot and eliminate that line effect. Also, on leather such as pebbled chrome tan it will not leave a mark.
There is also an optional roller presser foot which may reduce marks on “impressionable” leather.
Add Teflon tape to the presser foot.
Do you ship to Canada?
I anm located in Sask Canada my friend!
@@oaleathersupply Yea, I have notices that when I looked at your logo. I am your client. LOL.
I see the beginning part isn’t skived?
thank you!!!!!
I want to know the price. Can you ship to india
Unfortunately we can't right now, I'm so sorry!
