Love the depiction of autistic adults with spouses and children! Usually you only see depictions of autism in children. It's like people forget that autistic people become adults too.
Neither of the parents have autism
This isn't autism
The dad had a TBI and mom is intellectually disabled. People with autism typically have average intelligence. Get your facts straight 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

this movie was a real eye opener for me. its hard to comprehend how some children never get to really be themselves and that some are actually full time carers for their parents. what an amazing storyline, something that is actually based on real world issues and told in a very unique way. excellent movie.
I’d watch anything with Kiernan Shipka in it. She makes every frame worth it and leaves you wanting for more.
I totally recommend this movie. Best one I've seen in awhile.

Such a entertaining touching movie. Such a good cast. Jean, Dash... and of course Shipka, who nailed the narration! Dash delivers some really funny lines. He is really good at making something that should be serious funny.
Highly recommend this. It's a fun flick.

That’s Coda. The one that won a few Oscars. This is a different movie but has some similar aspects.

top of the world performance by wes reeve, I can’t seem to find this song, it was played in the movie.
I don't know.... I know a couple like this with 5 children, 2 with down syndrome as well, 2 without problems but with slower development thanks to the parents and another one born without issue but started having big problems thanks to the parents i don't know, they don't work and never will, so i can speak for everyone, but I'm conflicted.

Why do they insinuate the “worst that could happen” is her parents getting married that is so incredibly ableist and insulting every on deserves love. Why is is portrayed as a joke that two people with intellectual disabilities finding love when “normal” people in movies find love it’s romantic but when people with intellectual disabilities find love it is reckless and irresponsible.

This movie looks so stressful to watch, how horrible and selfish do you have to be to have a child when you can’t take care of them properly??? This is an incredibly horrific concept for a movie- like at least in I Am Sam his neighbor helped raise his daughter.
Non disabled parents do it all the time!!! Sometimes people just get pregnant and they want to raise the kid the way they can, sure it would be great if people only had children once they are prepared but there's no guarantee one will have resources and mental stability their whole life even of they started their journey as parents having it, life takes unexpected turns and the situation in the movie is very much real for many kids born from disabled parents yet is little spoken about, it's neither selfish for a disabled person to want to have a family nor for their kid to want to prioritise themselves...
