Gorgeous dresses. I love style Arc, in my opinion their patterns are very well designed. I believe their patterns are not for beginner dressmakers. I think a lot of sewers have possibly been spoilt with instructions from indie pattern companies.
I agree Style Arc pattern instructions are not suitable for beginners but they do some lovely patterns at a reasonable price. Love your wrap version and have added this pattern to my list. Thank you for the detailed and honest review xx
Love them all, to be honest. Good to see them in different fabrics. Have been looking at the hope dress for some time now but thinking I should go for it.
Hi Bev, thank you for the video. It’s great to see your versions and the changes you made. Now looking forward to the Montana extension pack makes. No pressure😂 great job and beautiful fabrics. Alex 🇬🇧
Thank you for the review of the hope, I wasn't sure abiut it but seeing you modelling it has convinced me and have sent for the pattern. I have 5 Montana and have just made one of the extension pack. I can see me making a few of the hope as well 😂
Thank you for this video - literally taking notes over here! :-) I, too, love the Hope dress and having made one last year, your video makes me want to make more and do some adjustments for a better fit. All your versions look amazing!
I’m definitely in love with this pattern and it’s expansion pack. You’ve given such great advice for each make - thank you! I love the result of the flutter sleeve for your viscose version, without the cuff. No real favourite, I loved them all. But I personally have a pear figure, and i like the tie from your first dress, but I also love the tie die Beach theme of your second where you’ve downsized, plus I love the faux wrap… really, there’s something I love about all of them. Looking forward to your Montana review.
I love all your versions, but the last one with the Lady McElroy fabric is just stunning! I’ve been tempted by this pattern but I’m not sure the “buffet” type dresses and this high neck would suit me. Now that I’ve seen your version with the ties at the waist and the keyhole detail, I think I’m going to have to give it a try! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Montana because I’ve been tempted by that one too! Great video - thank you! 💞
Thanks for this review. It’s been very helpful and I’m looking forward to your review on the Montana next! I do love the Lady McElroy versions best too ☺️
I’ve recently been looking at a 3 year old vlog by Kristin from The Dahlia Sewciety regarding Stylearc patterns and nothing regarding their instructions (or lack of) seems to have been taken on board. It’s such a pity as I really like a few of their patterns but it puts me off buying them because of that. I’m a not a beginner BUT I suppose lack confidence and prefer clear instructions regardless of what the pattern is for. 😊
I can understand that, I must admit there is a few I love the look of that sit more at an intermediate level that I havent got for these reasons, I have now started doing a bit of a search on the patterns beforehand as I find Minerva and other vloggers often do sew alongs which can help you through the lack of instructions when you reach that scratch your head moment :-)
Great review Becky! Not done the hope dress yet, but it does keep coming up and I’m definitely going to try it. It’s a tough Choice to make when picking my favourite of your Hope dress but I think it’s the tie dye one! 💜
I absolutely love the wrap front - I've been waiting for your review and you do not disappoint! I do love them all but adore the bright fabric of the last look [the button down]. However the wrap version is definitely the one for me. It seems a little less smock like and a bit more sophisticated. I do think they all look great but my jaw dropped at the wrap! I am also thinking of making the Montana so really excited you are going to review these. I really like Style Arc instructions - they are quite simple but do assume you know how to finish off and press and line pieces up etc. I was very nervous of using a Style Arc pattern but find them modern, original and seem quite straightforward. Having said all this - next thing is I won't have a clue what they mean when I next sew an outfit LOL. I always love your reviews - thankyou!! Sue x
Ah thanks so much lovely, I wore the wrap version today and really enjoyed how I felt in it, I had some lovely compliments, that one definitely feels like a hit 😊 I agree with you on style arc instructions if you know what your doing they are fine 😊 xx
Your fabric choices are just fabulous Becky ❤ I really love them all but the wrap over version is just 😍 Out of interest, have you made M7969 at all? If so how do the two compare ( apart from hope having raglan sleeves). X
Unfortunately I haven’t made the M7969 however it is on my make nine list so it will be coming soon and I will be able to compare 😊 I am wearing the wrap version to work today and I love it xx
Hi Becky. Loved your versions of the hope dress. Out of interest where did you add the inch on the bodice, at the side or on the length? I've looked at that pattern before, but wasn't sure if I would like it, but now I think I might like to try it. Also, you mentioned the Montana Dress. I have that one and I made it when I was very overweight during lockdown, but I lost about 1.5 stone and then I found it fitted better in the bust, but was really oversized, so I added elastic in the back waist seam and it made a huge difference. However, as I have quite a large bust, the length of the bodice was great. Perhaps when I make it again, I might put a dart in the side to give the bust a bit of shape, but stick with the size I used. I'll have to think about it. I too bought the expansion pack and wanted to try some of those styles too. I made it in the white double gauze from the Hayley Jane box, and she put a picture of me in it, in the magazine the next month. It is lovely with double gauze. I have done a few of the Style Arc patterns, and yes, the aren't brilliant for instructions but, like you, I managed to get through them.
Hi, Firstly thank you :-) So I added the inch to the length on the bodice, just so it sat slightly lower. of you have a larger bust I really recommend it. The pattern instructions are never great on style arc, but I always find a bit of experience and you tube if your really get stuck, you can always muddle through. I have a Blue double gauze with gold leaves on it that is tempting me to make another version with, but I am planning my Montana's next :-)
Thanks Bec for a great video, I have the pattern and desperate to make it but wasn’t sure if it would suit me. Thanks for sharing your measurements too, we have the same waist so as you look so great in them I’m thinking it would look good on me too 😄. Susiesews8
Hi Bec, I'm a beginner and I'm struggling with the Hope extension pack. I want to sew the wrap version (bodice B) with the cuff sleeves (2). I don't understand how to place the pattern on the fabric. Ie pattern pieces 17 Says to cut on the fold but the diagram shows it near the selvedge. I'm making up a toile first in a size 14 but I think I may need to make it up in the 12. I can do that once I have mastered the toile. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. X
My pockets are sewn the way I always do the Tilly and buttons way, sew each down right sides facing, then fold back and understitch the join together when I pull the skirt together x
Lovely makes i have the extension pack i agree with crossover had the same problem thanks for all the tips
I am glad I am not the only one :-) thanks for watching x
Gorgeous dresses. I love style Arc, in my opinion their patterns are very well designed. I believe their patterns are not for beginner dressmakers. I think a lot of sewers have possibly been spoilt with instructions from indie pattern companies.
❤️
Love all your makes but the Faux wrap is my absolute favourite it looks amazing on you
Ah thank you, I am wearing that one today for work and I do feel good in it x
I agree Style Arc pattern instructions are not suitable for beginners but they do some lovely patterns at a reasonable price. Love your wrap version and have added this pattern to my list. Thank you for the detailed and honest review xx

Thank you, it’s definitely my favourite version 😊 x
Love them all, to be honest. Good to see them in different fabrics. Have been looking at the hope dress for some time now but thinking I should go for it.
I would definitely recommend xx

Ah thanks lovely, I like the wrap style x
Ooh! So much choice Becky! I love both of the Lady McElroy versions with the tie dye one coming a very close third 😍
thank you, I think the Lady McElroy are my Favs too :-)

Thank you for the review of the hope, I wasn't sure abiut it but seeing you modelling it has convinced me and have sent for the pattern. I have 5 Montana and have just made one of the extension pack. I can see me making a few of the hope as well 😂

Just bought this pattern to do the wrap version. Thanks for this great video!
I’m glad you enjoyed 😊 xx
I've 2 favourites😅- the wrap one and the floaty leopard print
Ahh thank you, the Wrap one seems to be the most popular :-)
My favourite ones are the wrap one and the button front one . Lovely makes too.

ah thank you, I am also Pear shaped and I love this dress in all versions on my figure, I think they are comfy and flattering :-)
I love all your versions, but the last one with the Lady McElroy fabric is just stunning! Ah glad you enjoyed it, I also style sometimes with a belt and that helps too x

Oh my how do you choose? The beach vibe maybe oh and the button front but hey honestly they are all gorgeous 🤞💜❤️💚💙
Ah thank you, I think the button one is my fav but I think it is the fabric that does it for me 😊 x
Love last dress you made could you tell me where you bought the fabric from please just love the fabric lv Canterbury Kent
Hi, it’s Lady McElroy hun x

Love your Hope makes and I am thinking about making one but as I like a more fitted look, am thinking I might add in a French dart - any thoughts?.
I think a waist tie works because with the raglan a dart could be tricky
Button fastening you could stitch in the ditch for facing security ,
That’s true 😊

Hi, I would size down, it is oversized.
I don’t have the pattern in front of me, is it the wrap part?
I forgot to ask Bec, how do you do the pockets? I struggle with the style arc method.
My pockets are sewn the way I always do the Tilly and buttons way, sew each down right sides facing, then fold back and understitch the join together when I pull the skirt together x
Would a solid light/medium linen work???
Yes I absolutely think it would, it would be structured like a lawn but would definitely work :-)
xXX,👍👍👍
