I was not aware of the UN fleet of aircraft, but when I worked for MartinAir Holland CARGO, we frequently shipped armored SUVs, solid white with bold UN on the sides and top. I did some contract work for the "UN" most of their aircraft are operated by companies from all around the world, you often see Kenya, South Africa, Russia, Canada on their registration. You mostly see CRJ, ERJ, Dash-8, C-130, Mil-MI8, IL76, Beech 1900 and other Russian and Ukranian type that unfortunatly I cannot remember... the type of aircraft really depend on the type of mission they are using it on. The interior of those aircraft have nothing different than any commercial aircraft from the same type, I flew the dash-8 in DRC and Niger and it look quite the same as the Dash-8 I flew elsewhere, maybe it just look a bit older Hope this help

Well it’s February 20, 2022 … in Ottawa there is a massive violent crackdown on what’s being called the largest most peaceful protest in history..the claims of Canada are that police from across Canada are gathering in the countries capital to deal with the overstayed protesters… many police have come out against this. But despite that the crack down took place… many troops were observed in non-identifiable uniform/riot gear… it was odd to us citizens because the equipment is vastly different than our own Canadian issue riot gear… there is now UN Lear jets in NorthBay Ontario… I personally feel it to be quite a coincidence that we had troops in odd gear with no identification numbers on them… I believe the UN are supplementing troops to the Canadian police services.. I think that is illegal…

Would like to add some information. UN peace keeping troops from Nepal used to travel via Ethiopian airlines flight but last 2 flights that occured about 1.5 months back to Congo were done by A330 from Nepal airlines.

Why not the UN just buy/lease military aircraft like the C-17 and A400M? Those planes are long range and STOL, so they should be able to operate in badly paved runways as well, or even get itself a C5 Galaxy, since they utilize military equipment anyway. Even a C130J could help. Only reason they would need passenger aircraft is for ambassadors or humanitarian civilian workers, and for transporting locals out warzones or places affected by natural disasters
Thats not correct at all! They don’t own any aircraft. They lease them from a wide range of companies, I flew for one such company. The UN pays a fee for the aircraft, crew, maintenance and fuel. They have very high requirements for a company to be able to bid for one of the UN contracts.

"Number" often implies an integer value whereas "amount" implies a decimal value hence you cannot have an amount of sand or grain as you cannot have half a grain or half a grain of sand. Furthermore, the nuance in the difference is insignificant in most scenarios and so these terms are often used interchangeably in this context. However, you are correct: amount is technically not the right term however it is good enough as you have understood what the video is trying to convey. I hope that this helps you understand the weird mess of a language that is modern English.
