    I was not aware of the UN fleet of aircraft, but when I worked for MartinAir Holland CARGO, we frequently shipped armored SUVs, solid white with bold UN on the sides and top. Was pretty cool to see these vehicles arrive to the cargo warehouse, placed on cookie sheets, strapped down, ready to fly across the pond and beyond.

    I did some contract work for the "UN" most of their aircraft are operated by companies from all around the world, you often see Kenya, South Africa, Russia, Canada on their registration. You mostly see CRJ, ERJ, Dash-8, C-130, Mil-MI8, IL76, Beech 1900 and other Russian and Ukranian type that unfortunatly I cannot remember... the type of aircraft really depend on the type of mission they are using it on. The interior of those aircraft have nothing different than any commercial aircraft from the same type, I flew the dash-8 in DRC and Niger and it look quite the same as the Dash-8 I flew elsewhere, maybe it just look a bit older
    Hope this help

    Well it’s February 20, 2022 … in Ottawa there is a massive violent crackdown on what’s being called the largest most peaceful protest in history..the claims of Canada are that police from across Canada are gathering in the countries capital to deal with the overstayed protesters… many police have come out against this. But despite that the crack down took place… many troops were observed in non-identifiable uniform/riot gear… it was odd to us citizens because the equipment is vastly different than our own Canadian issue riot gear… there is now UN Lear jets in NorthBay Ontario… I personally feel it to be quite a coincidence that we had troops in odd gear with no identification numbers on them… I believe the UN are supplementing troops to the Canadian police services.. I think that is illegal…

    Why not the UN just buy/lease military aircraft like the C-17 and A400M? Those planes are long range and STOL, so they should be able to operate in badly paved runways as well, or even get itself a C5 Galaxy, since they utilize military equipment anyway. Even a C130J could help. Only reason they would need passenger aircraft is for ambassadors or humanitarian civilian workers, and for transporting locals out warzones or places affected by natural disasters

    “Amount of people”... well, people are not sand or grain. “A number of people”, would be more appropriate.

    • @tigershark2328
      @tigershark2328 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Number" often implies an integer value whereas "amount" implies a decimal value hence you cannot have an amount of sand or grain as you cannot have half a grain or half a grain of sand. Furthermore, the nuance in the difference is insignificant in most scenarios and so these terms are often used interchangeably in this context. However, you are correct: amount is technically not the right term however it is good enough as you have understood what the video is trying to convey.
      I hope that this helps you understand the weird mess of a language that is modern English.

    • @zloinaopako
      @zloinaopako 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tigershark232 There are countable and uncountable nouns. People are not uncountable. Sand is. Some sugar, flower, rice. A few/few apples, oranges, people. English has not evolved beyond this concept in the past decades, as far as I know. From Merrimack-Webster:”Number is regularly used with count nouns, /a large number of mistakes /any number of times/, while amount is mainly used with mass nouns”.

    • @tigershark2328
      @tigershark2328 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zloinaopako Number and amount are used interchangeably. Theoretically, there is no amount of anything as everything can be quantified into a number of quarks. The English Language is weird, as long as you get the intended meaning of the message that is in front of you, it's all good. Everything that is not abstract is countable. The terms: Countable and Uncountable are completely arbitrary and based on human perception.
      Furthermore, the dictionary you have cited uses: regularly and mainly. These suggest that there is some interchangeability of the words: number and amount in this context as otherwise these adverbs would not have been used.

      👋Hello, thanks for this comment! I'm sorry you're not a fan of this advert. This is a shame, it really helps support us and grow this channel to produce better videos every day. Unfortunately, creating videos isn't free.
      - We pay a voiceover artist and video producer to help make these videos.
      - Simple Flying has a team of 30 people all over the world who write content, some of - which make it into these videos.
      - Simple Flying isn't just a TH-cam channel. We have a website where we publish over 200 stories per week, we have a podcast, a mobile app and more!
      All of the above isn't free for us, but it's free to you due to help from our sponsors and advertisers. Thanks for your support! 🙏✈️
