    Great look on the Grabbers. The hub caps add to the look of your Bus

      I got tired of not having hub caps. That rusty commercial cap was expensive!

      If you ever come up with 3 hubcaps with that patina let me know. My 67 riviera camper is in need of them!!

      @@OldVolksTV today I removed the axles and replaced the rear brake lines. Tomorrow new axles and work on rear brakes. Then the next week new front brakes and master cylinder. Then I’m down to putting the freshly rebuild motor in.

      @@OldVolksTV 11 years for me. I still love them! Great snow tire too. Sand, and a little mud. They don't clean out that well though. Quiet on the highway.

    Good seeing the tyre fitter using a torque wrench on the wheel studs, wondering if they actually removed the sticky label fixed to the tread, they don't like doing that here... Greetings from the UK!

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made sure he used the torque wrench. And he pulled the stickers AND cleaned the white letters. Very professional!

    yea you guys got hit hard this year on the cold , cool vid and we have had to buy a balancing ring to do these rims , because the local shop wont , but they have no prob asking us to send it over or will come pick it up is they need to borrow it

      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a couple of those balancing doodads floating around town. I got lucky and this shop had the big cone.

    Do you know if these will work with a stock 74 westy?

    I've found a way,by watching TH-cam, to fix a valve stem in the field. I've tried it and it works. All you need is 3 to 4 feet of 4x4 fence post WD-40, and the little tool that takes the valve core out and attaches to the inner or outer threads and the new stem. Just lay the wheel on the ground, lay the post on the tire up to the rim spray the lube where the tire meet the rim (valve side up) drive on the post and break the bead loose replace the stem and air up. Also you would need air compressor. This is easier on older rims with no safety bump on the inside.

      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a pinch I bet that would work! I found out later that I also had a huge pointy rock that poked a hole in the tire.

      @tomasalvarez6040 this was the AC industries kit from SoCal auto parts. The link is in the video description.

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gained a little top speed, and so far it does pretty good on the trails. These tires are pretty quiet for as aggressive the treads are.

  • @salesdepartment3917
    @salesdepartment3917 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What size tires did you get? Would this size allow you to put chains on the tires if needed?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are 27x 8.5x 14. Unfortunately there's no room for even cable chains between the tire and the spring plate. We're working on a fix for that tho.

    • @salesdepartment3917
      @salesdepartment3917 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OldVolksTV Thank you for answering me. I would be curious about how chains can be used. I might try getting a slightly smaller size as my spares, and get two wheels to carry around with chains on them.

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard that's what the SST guys do. We've tried to fit cables on the grabbers, but it's super tight.

    I'm having a hell of a time finding 14 for my bus I heard about some Hankook r18 vantra but I can't afford those I have a 70 bay window bus stock height my question is are the tires quiet?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They're not too bad. Everything else in the bus rattles and squeaks so I hardly notice tire noise. Discount tire usually has access to the 14" grabbers at a decent price.

    What were the downsides of rhe tires?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far the only down side is that they're huge. It's a tight fit between the tire and the spring plate, but no rubbing that I can see. Also it takes a lot of power to get them moving, I can definitely feel the difference. The reduction boxes and dual carbs on SP manifolds helps with torque though so I'm not worried about hills too much.

    A PO put 15s on my 71 Westy, thinking about getting some grabbers and original 14s myself! How do 14s handle?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far so good. Quiet on the road and grippy off road. It's a tight fit, but no rubbing so far.

      @@OldVolksTV that’s good to hear. The fifteens I’m running rub when making sharp turns, so sharp I feel like if I ran 14s it wouldn’t be there.
